Episode 195: One Step Ahead (2)

At the duel, Zigfried is enjoying how he's winning the duel and uses the effect of Nibelung's Ring to let Kaiba draw twice but no monsters are drawn so Kaiba sets 1 card and ends his turn. Zigfried draws and uses his Fortune Chariot's effect to let VZ attack directly but Kaiba activates Attack Guidance Armor to redirect the attack to another Valkyrie monster but Zigfried activates Wotan's Judgment to negate the attack by switching a Spell Card with the top card of his deck and is pleased with the result. Next he activates Goddess Urd's Verdict, Goddess Verdandi's Guidance and Goddess Skuld's Oracle and uses their effects to force Kaiba to set, reveal and remove from play Blue-Eyes White Dragon (2500) in Defense Mode. Kaiba draws and discards the BEWD drawn by NR's effect, then uses Monster Reborn on that BEWD and summons it in Attack Mode and attacks but Zigfried destroys Fortune Chariot to save VZ but his score drops to 1100 since VZ was weaker.

Once again, Zigfried uses his Goddess cards' effects to force Kaiba to set and remove from play his Luster Dragon #2 (1400) in Defense Mode. Next he uses Gryphon's Feather Duster to destroy all of his Spells and Traps to gain 500 LPs for each one, raising his score by 1500 to 2600. Finally he tributes Valkyrie Erste and Valkyrie Zwei for Valkyrie Brunhilde (2000) in Defense Mode to end his turn. Kaiba draws and discards Cave Dragon by NR's effect then attacks, not destroying VB by her effect, leaving her down to 1000 DEF. He sets 1 card to end his turn. Zigfried draws and switches VB to Attack Mode, raising her ATK by 300 for each Dragon-Type monster on the field, putting its ATK up to 2100. Next he equips her with Enchanted Sword Nothung, raising her ATK by 400 and removing from play all Dragon-Type monsters on the field, returning her ATK to 1800 before raising it up to 2200. Then he uses Pegasus Wing to halve her ATK to 1100 and let her attack Kaiba directly but Kaiba activates Shrink, halving her ATK to 550 and leaving Kaiba down to 550.

Soon Kaiba will get what he deserves after being exposed as a thief and a fraud but Kaiba isn't buying it and draws, using Graceful Charity to draw 3 cards, then discard 2 (BEWD and Cloning). Next he removes from play a BEWD and Pitch-Dark Dragon in his Grave for Chaos Emperor Dragon (Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End in the CG) (3000) in Attack Mode. Next he sets 1 card and uses Emergency Provisions to send his face down card to the Grave and regain 1000 Life Points (why not send Nibelung's Ring since it prevents your XYZDC from attacking or send both it and your face down card?), raising his score to 1550. Then he activates CED's effect to pay 1000 Life Points and send everything on the field and in both players' hands to the Graveyard, returning his score to 550 and leaving the field empty and Zigfried down to 1100 LPs.

Zigfried draws and uses Pot of Greed. Next he activates Magical Alms, raising his LPs by 1000 to 2100, then letting both players predict how many Spell Cards they'll use during their respective turn and gain 500 Life Points per card but if fewer than that number are used, they take 1000 damage for each card predicted to be used. Then he plays Final Light, his only predicted Spell Card to be used, bringing his score up to 2600 by MA's effect, letting him pay 1000 Life Points and allowing both players to Special Summon a monster from their Grave, bringing his score down to 1600 and bringing back Valkyrie Brunhilde while Kaiba brings back Cave Dragon (2000) in Attack Mode. As a result of a Dragon-Type monster being on the field, VB gains 300 ATK, putting its ATK at 2100. His attack with VB destroys CD and brings Kaiba down to 950 LPs (due to MA's effect giving both players the 500 LP boost but that's not stated here).

Kaiba draws, predicting he'll use 4 Spell Cards, raising his score to 2950 and Zigfried's to 3600 by MA's effect, and playing Card of Demise to draw cards until his hand holds 5, giving him 5 cards. Next he uses Soul Release to remove from play the CED in his Graveyard. Then he uses Spell Reproduction to discard 2 Spell Cards (Cost Down and Spell Absorption or Absorb Spell) and retrieve Dimension Fusion, which he uses to pay 2000 LPs and bring back 3 BEWDS, Luster Dragon #2 and CED in Attack Mode, bringing his score back down to 950. However, this raises VB's ATK by 1500 to 3300 with 5 Dragons in play. He attacks VB with LD#2, destroying LD#2 and bringing his score down to 50 and leaving VB down to 3000. His next attack on VB is with CED, destroying itself and leaving VB down to 2700 ATK and 1000 DEF by its effect. The next attack, leaves Zigfried down to 3300 and VB with 0 DEF (and at 19:32 into the Japanese episode, Zigfried's score is shown to drop from 3300 to 3000 instead). His remaining 2 BEWD attacks destroys VB and win Kaiba the duel.

Zigfried isn't happy but he has to face facts and get out of Kaiba's life!
