Episode 105: Courtroom Chaos (2)

At the duel, the evidence points to Joey's defeat and Johnson finds Joey guilty of poor dueling. Nevertheless, Joey draws, ponders his options, then summons Panther Warrior (2000) in Attack Mode, then sets 1 card to end his turn. Johnson knows Joey is up to something (you think?) and draws before activating his face down Leading Question card, giving all of his Fusion Monsters 800 ATK, putting Kamionwizard's ATK at 2100. He attacks but Joey retaliates with his face down Skull Dice card and at first the card's result yields a six but Johnson re-rolls the die to have it land on 1 instead, leaving Kamionwizard's ATK unchanged, destroying PW and leaving Joey down another 100 LPs to 1100. In Johnson's courtroom, it's perfectly legal to twist facts, especially when it helps him (some honest Judge you are).

Thanks to his Sinister Justice card, Johnson gets another 800 LPs since his Fusion Monster dealt Battle Damage, raising his score to 1800. Joey draws, knowing that he has indeed used up his best monsters already but still decides to play the only monster in his hand, Swordsman of Landstar (500) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Graceful Dice in hopes of getting a high number and he does but Johnson makes the result a 1. Johnson uses his Deck Master ability to pay 1000 LPs and destroy Joey's monster (which IMO is a waste, given that Joey's monster isn't threatening at all), putting his own LPs down to 800 and Joey's down to 600. Joey sets 2 cards to end his turn. Johnson draws and uses Pot of Greed, a card Joey needs desperately but Joey is ready with his Gamble Trap Card, which as Yugi explains forces Joey to flip a coin and if right, Joey draws 5 cards but if wrong, Joey loses his next turn.

While the group wait to see what the toss result is, Kaiba and Mokuba enter through another door to a virtual sunset but Mokuba just wants out of there. Kaiba protests that if Noah thinks he can play with their emotions, he doesn't know who he's dealing with but Noah says he knows he's dealing with a thief. He checks on Joey's duel as Joey uses Scapegoat to give him 4 Goat Tokens (0000 x4) in Defense Mode. Next, he uses Reinforcement of the Army to pick up the Armail Warrior-Type monster. Next he uses Polymerization to send them to the Grave for Dragoness the Wicked Knight (1200) in Attack Mode. He uses LQ's effect to power up his Fusion Monsters before they each take out one of Joey's Goat Tokens (which is unnecessary as they all have 0 DEF, meaning virtually any monster could take them out in battle).

Joey isn't giving up but learns the hard way not to throw his fist down on the virtual railing in front of him. Yugi and Yami sense that Johnson is cheating and go to step in when Noah appears. Kaiba and Mokuba watch the same duel from a TV in the sand as Noah orders the duel stopped, stating that Joey's dice rolls were tampered with using the virtual software itself and doesn't want to hear Johnson's excuses, explaining that he's been in Kaiba's shadow, hoping to prove himself to Gozaburo.

Kaiba mentally protests that Gozaburo Kaiba has been missing for five years and doesn't understand why Noah would want to prove anything to him. Noah is about to punish Johnson when Joey sets a deal in which Johnson is forgiven if he duels honorably from here on. Noah agrees but warns that the stakes remain. Joey uses his own Pot of Greed. Next, he moves his Deck Master Flame Swordsman (1000) to his field in Attack Mode and equips it with Burning Soul Sword. Johnson protests that Joey needs to tribute a monster to activate the card's effect and has none but Joey is ready with his Arduous Decision card, letting him draw 2 cards, then Johnson picks one of them. If his chosen card is a monster, Joey can play it but if not, both cards are sent to the Graveyard. Johnson isn't feeling so confident now but Tea` wants a card picked quickly. At first, Johnson picks the non-Monster Card and Joey taunts him by asking if he's sure. Johnson briefly shows confidence in his choice but a quick snicker from Joey makes him change to the monster so Joey plays Goblin Attack Force (2300) in Attack Mode, then tributes it for BSS' effect, giving FS a golden makeover and 2300 more ATK to 3300. His attack destroys DtWK and winning the duel, making Johnson and his Deck Master disappear. Their celebration is short-lived as Joey remembers that they have to find the others and darts off to find Serenity with his friends following suit.
