Mai activated Rose Whip, giving her monster 300 ATK to 1600. (You can't activate Equip Spell cards anytime other than your Main Phase 1 or Main Phase 2 in the CG.) Mai's counterattack takes out FG, leaving Tea`'s score down to 1100. She tells Tea` to save any friendship speeches as she's heard them all before. Mai sets 1 card for her turn. Tea` draws Shining Friendship, remembering her own friendship and wishing it were that strong and plays it (1300) in Attack Mode. Mai rudely decides not to wait and attacks but Tea` activates Waboku, reducing the ATK of the other monster to 0 (actually it reduces Battle Damage you take that turn to 0 and prevents your monster's destruction in battle).

As Mai figured, Tea` gives another friendship speech that has a tiny affect on Yugi but not enough for a drastic change. Next she equips SF with Silver Bow and Arrow, raising its ATK by 300 to 1600 and its DEF by the same amount to 1400. Mai isn't worried as she equips her own monster with Cyber Shield, putting her own monster's ATK at 2100. Then she uses De-Spell to destroy SBaA, leaving SF back to its original stats. Her attack takes out Tea`s face down Magician of Faith (300) in Defense Mode, letting Tea` take back a Spell Card from her Grave (and in which case, attacking that monster was brainless). This time, Yugi makes a slight noise and ponders Mai's words.

Tea equips her monster with both the SBaA card and Elf's Light, giving SF a combined 700 ATK boost to 2000. Mai attacks again (now who doesn't know the rules?) but Tea` activates her own De-Spell, destroying Cyber Shield and leaving HL down to 1600. Tea`'s attack takes out HL, leaving Mai down to 1600. Instead of activating what Yugi suspects is Harpie's Feather Duster, Mai surrenders, leaving Tea` perplexed. Mai didn't even need the star chips anyway and promptly dumps them in Tea`'s hands. Yugi asks about the card but is told it was a throw-away (not what your thoughts indicated earlier, Mai). At last, Yugi takes the star chips and the group races to the top of the castle.
