Episode 24: Face-Off (3)

At the duel site, Kaiba says nothing Yu-Gi-Oh has can take out his Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon and Yu-Gi-Oh's friends know he's right. However, things change as Yu-Gi-Oh draws the card to defend against BEUD and plays Kuriboh (300) in Attack Mode. Kaiba protests that it's the weakest monster in Duel Monsters (well there's also Thousand-Eyes Idol, Relinquished and Thousand-Eyes Restrict, all of which have 0 ATK but I guess you don't know about all the cards in the game, do you Kaiba?). Yu-Gi-Oh's last card is Multiply, making boundless Kuribohs since its ATK is less than 500. (The real card creates Kuriboh Tokens in all of your open Monster Card Zones by Tributing Kuriboh itself.) Kaiba refuses to believe Yu-Gi-Oh's words and attacks but nothing happens except more Kuriboh's appear.

Yu-Gi-Oh decides to go on the attack but Kaiba protests that Yu-Gi-Oh has nothing strong enough. However, Yu-Gi-Oh plays Mammoth Graveyard (1200) in Attack Mode, Polymerization and Living Arrow, letting Yu-Gi-Oh fuse his monster with Kaiba's. Polymerization doesn't allow this in the CG and Living Arrow isn't a real card either.) Since MG has 1200 ATK, it'll drain that amount from BEUD's ATK and with that, BEUD's ATK lowers to 3300. Soon it'll be weak enough for Yu-Gi-Oh to destroy! Still in denial, Kaiba attacks again but to no avail and nothing in his deck can reverse this. Yu-Gi-Oh simply draws and ends his turn with his combo, leaving BEUD down to 2100 ATK. Once again, Kaiba attacks and fails to achieve anything. With BEUD's ATK down to just 900, even Yu-Gi-Oh's weakest monsters can take it out. Kaiba can't believe that he's failed. A vision plays in his mind and the gang can't believe Kaiba's just spaced out. It doesn't matter what card Yu-Gi-Oh draws, anything will beat it. He draws and plays Celtic Guardian (1400) in Attack Mode and takes out a BEUD head, leaving Kaiba down to 400 as Bakura explains why BEUD is still standing (though in the CG, Joey would see it exactly as he thought it should've been as BEUD is 1 monster).

Kaiba says it cannot end this way for if he loses, Pegasus will keep Mokuba prisoner. He decides to back up to the Castle's edge in hopes Yu-Gi-Oh surrenders but Joey isn't buying it. He and Tea` try convincing Kaiba but to no avail. Kaiba uses Reborn the Monster to revive a BEUD head with an ATK of 3000 (in the CG, he'd be bringing back the entire monster itself) and it can win Kaiba the duel next turn. Yu-Gi-Oh ignores Yugi's protests and attacks but Tea` rushes to stop him, which works. Yu-Gi-Oh, now back as Yugi, stops the attack with tears in his eyes. Kaiba attacks to win the duel. Kimo announces the duel's results to Pegasus and is told to let Kaiba in.

The group rush to his aid as Yugi explains that the presence inside him wanted to go all out against Kaiba and because of that, Yugi is afraid to duel ever again. If Yu-Gi-Oh had done what needed to be done, he'd be entering the castle instead of Kaiba but Tea` shares a few words about compassion and heart, something Yugi had but Kaiba has all that he needs and walks away gaining entry into the castle. He'll defeat Pegasus once and for all!
