Episode 131: The Beginning of the End
One night, Jacob, Lester and Primo know that their time is closing in for their plan and they cannot fail. Primo says what they have will come in handy and while he explains what secret powers ZONE told him about, Lazar makes a delivery to Team 5Ds' hideout but they're nowhere to be found and Officer Trudge and Mina find him instead with Carly shortly after but none of them know where Team 5Ds is. Trudge has a hunch of where they are and we find them gazing into the sky as Leo tries to see the floating palace in the sky that the others can see. Luna figures Leo can't see it because he's not a signer and Leo taps into some Signer powers from Akiza's arm. As a result, Leo gets to see the floating palace but it's not a sight he's thrilled with.
Yusei explains that he had a talk with the remains of his dad recently that said something big was coming and as the group conclude what the floating palace means with that, the Trudge and the others find them and try to understand what they're doing. Team New World appears, disappointed that their upcoming match is not as promising as they'd hoped and explains that the floating palace is the Divine Temple that is part of their Grand Design. Jacob isn't willing to spoil what the temple actually is until they win but Lester adds that it may not matter for the temple will crash down on the city and that doesn't sit will with Trudge and the others. The fate of the world is in their hands but Team Ragnarok says not to doubt themselves and give Team 5Ds the courage they need to face Team New World the next day. That day comes and Lazar is considering other options as he fears Team New World will win when Trudge enters and suggests Lazar do his job and warn the public but that'd create panic so Trudge heads back down to watch the duel. Jack and Lester take their positions with Lester taking a little ridicule. When duel preparations are complete, Lester doesn't care about the first turn and gives it to Jack. Jack draws and plays Dark Resonator (300) in Defense Mode before setting 3 cards to end his turn. Lester reminds Jack of what their Meklord Emperors can do (though DR isn't a Synchro, it's a Tuner monster).
Lester draws and summons Sky Core (0000) in Defense Mode before also setting 3 cards to end his turn. Jack believe he has Lester's strategy figured out and activates Dimension Switch, letting him either remove from play a monster or bring a monster removed from play by its effect back to the field. He uses its effect to remove DR from play, then Summons Gear Changer (1500) in Attack Mode. Next, he uses GC's effect to increase its Level by the Level of Lester's monster, making it Level 5. Next he uses DS' effect again to send itself to the Graveyard and return DR to the field, then uses his monsters as Synchro Material for Red Dragon Archfiend (3000) in Attack Mode. Lester already knew this was coming so Jack summons Trust Guardian (0000) in Attack Mode. Next he Special Summons Red Nova (0000) in Attack Mode since has RDA on the field. Then, he uses his monsters as Synchro Material for Red Nova Dragon (3500) in Attack Mode. Since RND gains 500 ATK per Tuner in Jack's Graveyard, it gains 1500 for the three currently there, raising its ATK to 5000.
Lester is amazed at Jack's ignorance so Jack attacks but Lester activates Twin Vortex to destroy both monsters but since RND can't be destroyed by card effects, only SC is destroyed, letting Lester Special Summon Meklord Emperor Skiel Infinity (0000), Skiel Top (600), Skiel Attack (1000) and Skiel Carrier (400) in Attack Mode and Skiel Guard (300) in Defense Mode. Then he combines them into Meklord Emperor Skiel (2200) in Attack Mode to (apparently) end his turn. (Interestingly, the explanation uses Skiel as though it's one monster like the CG even though we know in the anime this isn't the case.) Jack draws and attacks but Lester uses Skiel Guard's effect to negate the attack so Jack activates Power Pressure (though you never see the card, only hear that it's being activated) to deal Lester 1000 damage since his monster's attack was negated.
However, Lester activates Infinite Aura, which gets 1 counter for every 100 damage Lester takes, putting it up to 10 (and of course it wouldn't have anything in the CG as no damage was dealt to Lester when it was activated). He doesn't mention what it'll mean later but warns that Jack doesn't want to be near it when it has enough counters. The rest of Team 5Ds cheers but the rest of Team New World knows it's the beginning of the end and Jack ends his turn. Lester draws and attempts to use MESI's effect to take RND but Jack counters with RND's other effect to remove itself from play. (The real card can only remove itself from play when attacked.) Disappointed, Lester sets 1 card to end his turn and Jack gets Red Nova Dragon back. Jack then draws and summons Force Resonator (500) in Attack Mode. Next, he uses FR's effect to Tribute itself and prevent Lester from using his monster's effects when Jack attacks.
With another tuner in Jack's Grave, RND gains 500 more ATK to 5500. Jack attacks but Lester activates Infinite Prison to discard 1 card and put 1 monster in his Graveyard on his field as a Spell Card. Nevertheless, Jack's attack connects, winning him the duel and giving IA 30 more counters to 40. Most of Team 5Ds celebrates but Yusei feels it's way too easy and we see Lester returning as well, knowing that Primo would've been the one to lose had it not been for a game of rock, paper scissors. What matters is their plan is in motion and New Domino City's time is almost up!
