Episode 5: A Blast from the Past (2)

At the duel, Jack says that Yusei could've just taken the card back and gone back to Satellite but instead he decided to prove his own but Yusei intends to do more than prove his own and draws, playing Shield Warrior (1600) in Defense Mode. Next he switches Junk Warrior to Defense Mode and sets 1 card to end his turn. Jack shouldn't be surprised as Yusei was never a fighter. Inside, Lazar protests that the duel be stopped or Jack's reputation is ruined. However, the duel rages on as Jack draws and attacks with Red Dragon Archfiend, destroying both of Yusei's monsters by its effect, then asks why Yusei isn't fighting back and we learn it's part of Yusei's strategy. Nevertheless, Jack attacks Yusei directly with Stardust Dragon, leaving Yusei down to 500 LPs. Yusei remains hesitant to make a move after two laps but then draws and plays Sonic Chick (300) in Defense Mode (and while they go back to the helpful card interruption for it from 5:23 to 5:30 into the US episode, I have to ask why the didn't use it back when it was first Summoned). With that, he sets 1 card to end his turn.

Jack asks Yusei what he'll do if he wins before answering it for him and attacking with RDA. However, in response to RDA's effect, Yusei activates Remote Revenge to destroy RDA and Stardust yet Jack counters with Stardust Dragon's effect, which can be activated if a card is played that would destroy Jack's monsters (or really any card on the field), it takes one for the team. (The real Remote Revenge works only against a monster being targeted by a card effect and moves that effect to an opponent's monster.) Jack sets 2 cards and ends his turn with Stardust Dragon returning to the field (by its effect but, you guessed it, they don't tell you that). However, Yusei activates Harmonia Mirror to take Stardust since it was Special Summoned outside of a Synchro Summon. Yusei hates to admit it but Jack's words from their past duel taught him to believe in all of his cards and he used the duel to come up with new strategies.

Nevertheless, Jack doubts Yusei will win no matter how many Stardust Dragons he controls but demands Yusei bring it on. Yusei draws and activates Speed Spell - Silver Contrails, giving his WIND attribute Stardust Dragon 1000 ATK for the turn, raising its ATK to 3500. He attacks but that triggers an unusual sensation in his and Jack's bodies. The professor sees the energy surge from behind a glass window but Jack activated Synchro Deflector to negate the attack and destroy Yusei's weakest monster Sonic Chick. Yusei isn't done as he plays Ghost Gardna (1900) in Defense Mode and sets 2 cards face down to end his turn. The sensation continues and the professor reports to Goodwin about the energy surge, warning that it's out of control and could get much worse if not dealt with.

Jack draws and attacks, taking out GG instead of SD by GG's effect, lowering RDA's ATK by 1000 to 2000 by GG's other effect. Furthermore, Yusei activates Counterattack Beacon, raising SD's ATK by 500 to 3000 and forcing it to attack, though it takes two tries to declare the attack because of the weird sensation. However, Jack activates Prideful Roar to pay 1000 LPs and give RDA 1300 more ATK, putting his score down to 900 and raising RDA's ATK to 3300 (the 1300 comes from the 1000 ATK difference + 300 from PR's effect but they don't tell you that). However, their colliding attacks cause addition havoc on their field and where the professor is yet Yusei uses Shield Warrior's effect from the Graveyard to remove it from play and prevent SD from being destroyed in battle but Yusei still takes the ATK difference, bringing his score down to 200.

As Jack goes to activate a Speed Spell, the sensation activates again and both players' arms begin glowing. A red dragon of sorts appears and causes Jack and Yuseis' eyes to glow red but Jack resumes the duel by activating Speed Spell - End of Storm (rather End of the Storm according to Wiki) but when Yusei activates his Trap Card (Meteor Stream) in an attempt to win the duel, the red dragon finds a spot and disappears, leaving Jack and Yusei no longer in the duel with a glowing red mark on their arms and the town without power. Sector Security arrives and surrounds Yusei, stating that he's in violation of a rule but Yusei still has no idea what the mark on his arm is from.
