Episode 142: The Final Face-Off (5)

At the duel, Odeon continues making his way to the duel platform despite all of Dark Marik's remarks. He reaches the railing and learns he's too late and shortly DM will win against Yami. However, Odeon protests that he's come to help Good Marik prevail and is thrown back against the tower's edge by Dark Marik's Millennium Rod. Odeon gets up and orders Good Marik to fight the evil within him and is again thrown backward. He staggers back to the dueling platform and Good Marik is convinced to enter Dark Marik's body and DM clutches his face in pain. When he removes his hand, Good Marik makes a speech that Odeon applauds. Good Marik pleas for Yami to attack, for it's the only way to save the world. Since Yami has 2 Spellcaster-Type monsters out, he can use Ragnarok's effect to destroy all of Dark Marik's monsters but must remove all monsters in his hand, deck and Grave and and the group watch as Yami's monsters fly by.

When it's done and the smoke clears, Good Marik appears with 1 Life Point left and a complete body.

However, Dark Marik's eye returns but despite DM's advice, Good Marik surrenders the duel, dropping his score to 0 and causing DM to vanish. Roland announces Yami the victor after the darkness lifts and Yugi is freed. Ishizu notes that Good Marik has completed his task as a Tomb Keeper, letting them start over with a new life that Ishizu thinks should be with the rest of the world. Marik (as Dark Marik is gone now) assures that everyone sent to the Shadow Realm will return and hands over Ra to Yami but neither Yami nor Yugi know what to do with them. Marik shows Yami the pharaoh's secret but Yami has no idea what it says but remembers the stone tablet and wonders if the pharaoh's secret is locked within.

Before leaving, Marik hands over the Millennium Rod and Ring to Yami. Kaiba has had enough and advises them to board his airship to go home as the Duel Tower will self-destruct in one hour. Worse still, the engines are not as repaired as Mokuba thinks (at least Roland seems to to indicate this). Kaiba and Mokuba prepare the detonation sequence and the countdown begins. The gang enter Mai's room but there's been no progress so Joey starts begging. Soon after, we learn that Mai and Serenity were playing a joke. They exit and find Bakura eating as he explains there wasn't much to eat in the Shadow Realm. They move on to the airship but are told that the airship isn't going anywhere without Kaiba or Mokuba and neither of them can be located. The engines briefly rev up but then shut down again and there's only 45 minutes left!
