The Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack (Page 3)
MVP1-EN057 | |
Slifer the Sky Dragon (3rd artwork) DIVINE / Divine-Beast / Level 10 / ATK ? / DEF ? Requires 3 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Normal Summon cannot be negated. When Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the Graveyard. This card gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each card in your hand. If a monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to your opponent's field in face-up Attack Position: That monster(s) loses 2000 ATK, then if its ATK has been reduced to 0 as a result, destroy it. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 4 |
Comments: | So they decided to reprint the tournament legal Slifer in this pack and it's a worthy inclusion given all the effects are faithful to the anime version. |
MVP1-EN056 | |
Dark Magician Girl (5th artwork) DARK / Spellcaster / Level 6 / ATK 2000 / DEF 1700 This card gains 300 ATK for every "Dark Magician" or "Magician of Black Chaos" in either player's Graveyard. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | Her stats alone make her the strongest of the Magician Girls in this pack but she still needs extra help to survive on the field. |
MVP1-EN055 | |
Blue-Eyes White Dragon (8th artwork) LIGHT / Dragon / Level 8 / ATK 3000 / DEF 2500 This legendary dragon is a powerful engine of destruction. Virtually invincible, very few have faced this awesome creature and lived to tell the tale. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 3 |
Comments: | Even after all these years, this monster has continued to remain at the top thanks to all the new support its gotten and it'll overpower Dark Magician, even without any help. |
MVP1-EN054 | |
Dark Magician (7th artwork) DARK / Spellcaster / Level 7 / ATK 2500 / DEF 2100 The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | He's gotten much support since his debut back in LOB but even with all that support, his stats are still below Blue-Eyes White Dragon's. |
MVP1-EN053 | |
Palladium Oracle Mahad LIGHT / Spellcaster / Level 7 / ATK 2500 / DEF 2100 When you draw this card: You can reveal this card; Special Summon it from your hand. If this card battles a DARK monster, its ATK is doubled during the Damage Step only. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon 1 "Dark Magician" from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 3 |
Comments: | A free way to bring him out is nice, especially since it only requires you to draw it any way you can and he'll overpower pretty much any DARK monster he faces. Too bad the other effect doesn't work on any Dark Magician monster. |
MVP1-EN052 | |
Chocolate Magician Girl WATER / Spellcaster / Level 4 / ATK 1600 / DEF 1000 Once per turn: You can discard 1 Spellcaster-Type monster; draw 1 card. Once per turn, if this card is targeted for an attack: You can target 1 Spellcaster-Type monster in your Graveyard, except "Chocolate Magician Girl"; Special Summon it, then change the attack target to it, and if you do, the attacking monster's ATK becomes half its current ATK. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 3 |
Comments: | In an all-Spellcaster-Type monster Deck, she'll actually be pretty useful because she'll set up your Graveyard for her other effect and let you draw an extra card each turn. |
MVP1-EN051 | |
Lemon Magician Girl LIGHT / Spellcaster / Level 2 / ATK 800 / DEF 600 Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Magician Girl" monster, except "Lemon Magician Girl"; add 1 Spellcaster-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, if this card is targeted for an attack: You can Special Summon 1 Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand, but its effects (if any) are negated, then change the attack target to it, and if you do, the attacking monster's ATK becomes half its current ATK. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | She can save herself from attacks but that requires you to have a Spellcaster in your hand you can Summon with her effect. The other effect isn't that good either. |
MVP1-EN050 | |
Lord Gaia the Fierce Knight EARTH / Warrior / Level 7 / ATK 2300 / DEF 2100 If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Once per turn, if a monster(s) with ATK higher than this card is Special Summoned to your opponent's field (except during the Damage Step): You can make this card gain 700 ATK until the end of this turn. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | A minor step above Swift Gaia but neither of its effects make it worthwhile to use. |
MVP1-EN049 | |
Gandora-X the Dragon of Demolition DARK / Dragon / Level 8 / ATK 0 / DEF 0 When this card is Normal or Special Summoned from the hand: You can destroy as many other monsters on the field as possible, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the highest original ATK on the field among those destroyed monsters (your choice, if tied). This card's ATK becomes equal to the damage inflicted to your opponent by this effect. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Halve your LP. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | Its ATK and damage inflicted will depend on the strongest monster you destroy but regardless, you'll be down half your LP each turn and this guy's DEF is static. |
MVP1-EN048 | |
Celtic Guard of Noble Arms EARTH / Warrior / Level 4 / ATK 2100 / DEF 700 Cannot attack while you have any cards in your hand. Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 "Celtic Guard" monster from your hand. When this attacking card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can draw cards equal to the number of "Celtic Guard" monsters you control. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | All that ATK is going to be useless much of the time unless used in Infernities, which benefit from having no cards in the hand, though you probably won't draw many cards with the other effect. |
MVP1-EN047 | |
Clear Kuriboh LIGHT / Fairy / Level 1 / ATK 300 / DEF 200 During either player's turn, when your opponent activates a monster effect that would inflict damage: You can discard this card; negate the activation. When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; draw 1 card, if it is a monster, you can Special Summon it, then change the attack target to it. You can only use this effect of "Clear Kuriboh" once per turn. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | Not many choices for countering the first effect but the 2nd effect isn't too bad, even if it is a 1-in-3 chance. |
MVP1-EN046 | |
Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon LIGHT / Dragon / Level 8 / ATK 3000 / DEF 2500 Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by revealing "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in your hand. You can only Special Summon "Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon" once per turn this way. This card's name becomes "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" while it is on the field or in the Graveyard. Once per turn: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy it. This card cannot attack the turn this effect is activated. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 3 |
Comments: | It's pretty easy to Summon, especially since Blue-Eyes can easily be added to your hand with The White Stone of Legend and other cards. Of course, it also counts as BEWD while on the field or in the Gravyeard so anything that mentions the original will count with this guy. Destroying an opponent's monster with its effect won't do you much good though as it cannot attack the turn you activate the effect. |
MVP1-EN045 | |
Unification of the Cubic Lords Normal Trap Fusion Summon 1 "Cubic" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or field as Fusion Materials. If a face-up "Cubic" monster is destroyed by battle or leaves the field: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Cubic" monster from your hand or Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions, and if you do, it cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects this turn. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | So far, we only have Crimson Nova Trinity to work with so I'll give this the benefit of the doubt, though you still have other ways to Fusion Summon it. |
MVP1-EN044 | |
Cubic Mandala Continuous Trap If you control a "Cubic" monster: Activate this card by targeting any number of monsters that are in your opponent's Graveyard because they were destroyed and sent there this turn; Special Summon them to your opponent's field, but each becomes ATK 0 and has 1 Cubic Counter placed on it. (Monsters with a Cubic Counter cannot attack, also negate their effects.) While your opponent controls any of the monsters Summoned by this effect, negate any monster effects your opponent activates. When the last of these monsters leaves the field, destroy this card. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | All this does is give your opponent more options and since Cubic Monsters only retain ATK via their effects, it won't take much to knock them down, especially since their ATKs only go up so high. |
MVP1-EN043 | |
Cubic Rebirth Normal Trap When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: Target the attacking monster; your opponent Special Summons, in Attack Position, as many monsters as possible from their hand, Deck, and/or Graveyard with the same name as that monster, also, the ATK of the targeted monster and those Special Summoned monster(s) become 0 and place 1 Cubic Counter on each. (Monsters with a Cubic Counter cannot attack, also negate their effects.) Also, after that, if any Cubic Counters were placed by this effect, Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Cubic" monster from your hand, ignoring its Summoning conditions. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 1 |
Comments: | So this is how they intend to have you get Cubics out. Well it's a pitiful way to do it because while you get 1 monster, your opponent gets up to 3 and only when your opponent declares an attack. Plus, your new monster won't be Summoned by its effect and thus won't gain any ATK, unless it's Geira Guile, which is just as poor an option. |
MVP1-EN042 | |
Cubic Wave Normal Spell Target 1 "Cubic" monster you control and 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; the ATK of that monster you control becomes double its current ATK, and if it does, the ATK of that monster your opponent controls become half its current ATK. You can banish this card and any number of "Cubic" monsters from your Graveyard, then target face-up monsters your opponent controls equal to the number of those banished "Cubic" monsters; place 1 Cubic Counter on each of them. (Monsters with a Cubic Counter cannot attack, also negate their effects.) ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | Much like Cubic Karma, the strongest Cubic monsters are really the only worthwhile targets, especially since the others all only have their ATKs while they have their effects and take more effort to get out. |
MVP1-EN041 | |
Cubic Karma Continuous Spell When this card is activated: You can target 1 "Cubic" monster you control, except "Vijam the Cubic Seed"; send any number of "Vijam the Cubic Seed" from your hand and/or Deck to the Graveyard, then that monster gains 800 ATK for each (even if this card leaves the field). During your opponent's turn, if "Vijam the Cubic Seed" is Special Summoned by the effect of a "Cubic" monster: Send this card to the Graveyard, and if you do, halve your opponent's LP. You can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 "Cubic" monster from your Deck to your hand. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | Crimson Nova and Crimson Nova Trinity are really the only viable targets with this since you can't select Cubic Seed and those two are the strongest of the bunch. |
MVP1-EN040 | |
Crimson Nova Trinity the Dark Cubic Lord DARK / Fiend-Type Fusion / Level 10 / ATK 4500 / DEF 3000 3 x "Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord" Must be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Materials and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Cannot be targeted, or destroyed by, your opponent's card effects. When this card declares an attack: Halve your opponent's LP. When this card destroys a monster by battle: You can activate this effect; this card can make a second attack during this Battle Phase. If you take effect damage: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the damage you took. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 3 |
Comments: | There's enough benefits here that getting those three boss monsters together for this guy is worthwhile, especially since your opponent's LP are halved whenever it attacks and they'll take effect damage when you do. |
MVP1-EN039 | |
Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord DARK / Fiend / Level 10 / ATK 3000 / DEF 0 Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by revealing 3 other "Cubic" cards in your hand with different names, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Unaffected by other monsters' activated effects, whose original ATK is 3000 or less. When this attacking card destroys a monster by battle: You can activate this effect; this card can make a second attack during this Battle Phase. During your End Phase: Each player takes 3000 damage. You can only use this effect of "Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord" once per turn. ULTRA RARE |
|
Rating: | 2 |
Comments: | I'd rate it higher but once it's out, both players are hit for major damage at every End Phase it stays out, leaving you to only play it when your LP are higher and that's not always going to work out. |
