The Dark Side of Dimensions Movie Pack

MVP1-EN057
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Slifer the Sky Dragon (3rd artwork)
DIVINE / Divine-Beast / Level 10 / ATK ? / DEF ?
Requires 3 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Normal Summon cannot be negated. When Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the Graveyard. This card gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each card in your hand. If a monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to your opponent's field in face-up Attack Position: That monster(s) loses 2000 ATK, then if its ATK has been reduced to 0 as a result, destroy it.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 4
Comments: So they decided to reprint the tournament legal Slifer in this pack and it's a worthy inclusion given all the effects are faithful to the anime version.
MVP1-EN056
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Dark Magician Girl (5th artwork)
DARK / Spellcaster / Level 6 / ATK 2000 / DEF 1700
This card gains 300 ATK for every "Dark Magician" or "Magician of Black Chaos" in either player's Graveyard.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Her stats alone make her the strongest of the Magician Girls in this pack but she still needs extra help to survive on the field.
MVP1-EN055
Card Type: Normal Monster
Card Info Blue-Eyes White Dragon (8th artwork)
LIGHT / Dragon / Level 8 / ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
This legendary dragon is a powerful engine of destruction. Virtually invincible, very few have faced this awesome creature and lived to tell the tale.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: Even after all these years, this monster has continued to remain at the top thanks to all the new support its gotten and it'll overpower Dark Magician, even without any help.
MVP1-EN054
Card Type: Normal Monster
Card Info Dark Magician (7th artwork)
DARK / Spellcaster / Level 7 / ATK 2500 / DEF 2100
The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: He's gotten much support since his debut back in LOB but even with all that support, his stats are still below Blue-Eyes White Dragon's.
MVP1-EN053
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Palladium Oracle Mahad
LIGHT / Spellcaster / Level 7 / ATK 2500 / DEF 2100
When you draw this card: You can reveal this card; Special Summon it from your hand. If this card battles a DARK monster, its ATK is doubled during the Damage Step only. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon 1 "Dark Magician" from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: A free way to bring him out is nice, especially since it only requires you to draw it any way you can and he'll overpower pretty much any DARK monster he faces. Too bad the other effect doesn't work on any Dark Magician monster.
MVP1-EN052
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Chocolate Magician Girl
WATER / Spellcaster / Level 4 / ATK 1600 / DEF 1000
Once per turn: You can discard 1 Spellcaster-Type monster; draw 1 card. Once per turn, if this card is targeted for an attack: You can target 1 Spellcaster-Type monster in your Graveyard, except "Chocolate Magician Girl"; Special Summon it, then change the attack target to it, and if you do, the attacking monster's ATK becomes half its current ATK.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: In an all-Spellcaster-Type monster Deck, she'll actually be pretty useful because she'll set up your Graveyard for her other effect and let you draw an extra card each turn.
MVP1-EN051
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Lemon Magician Girl
LIGHT / Spellcaster / Level 2 / ATK 800 / DEF 600
Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 "Magician Girl" monster, except "Lemon Magician Girl"; add 1 Spellcaster-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, if this card is targeted for an attack: You can Special Summon 1 Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand, but its effects (if any) are negated, then change the attack target to it, and if you do, the attacking monster's ATK becomes half its current ATK.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: She can save herself from attacks but that requires you to have a Spellcaster in your hand you can Summon with her effect. The other effect isn't that good either.
MVP1-EN050
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Lord Gaia the Fierce Knight
EARTH / Warrior / Level 7 / ATK 2300 / DEF 2100
If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Once per turn, if a monster(s) with ATK higher than this card is Special Summoned to your opponent's field (except during the Damage Step): You can make this card gain 700 ATK until the end of this turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: A minor step above Swift Gaia but neither of its effects make it worthwhile to use.
MVP1-EN049
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Gandora-X the Dragon of Demolition
DARK / Dragon / Level 8 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
When this card is Normal or Special Summoned from the hand: You can destroy as many other monsters on the field as possible, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the highest original ATK on the field among those destroyed monsters (your choice, if tied). This card's ATK becomes equal to the damage inflicted to your opponent by this effect. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Halve your LP.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Its ATK and damage inflicted will depend on the strongest monster you destroy but regardless, you'll be down half your LP each turn and this guy's DEF is static.
MVP1-EN048
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Celtic Guard of Noble Arms
EARTH / Warrior / Level 4 / ATK 2100 / DEF 700
Cannot attack while you have any cards in your hand. Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 "Celtic Guard" monster from your hand. When this attacking card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can draw cards equal to the number of "Celtic Guard" monsters you control.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: All that ATK is going to be useless much of the time unless used in Infernities, which benefit from having no cards in the hand, though you probably won't draw many cards with the other effect.
MVP1-EN047
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Clear Kuriboh
LIGHT / Fairy / Level 1 / ATK 300 / DEF 200
During either player's turn, when your opponent activates a monster effect that would inflict damage: You can discard this card; negate the activation. When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; draw 1 card, if it is a monster, you can Special Summon it, then change the attack target to it. You can only use this effect of "Clear Kuriboh" once per turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Not many choices for countering the first effect but the 2nd effect isn't too bad, even if it is a 1-in-3 chance.
MVP1-EN046
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon
LIGHT / Dragon / Level 8 / ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by revealing "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in your hand. You can only Special Summon "Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon" once per turn this way. This card's name becomes "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" while it is on the field or in the Graveyard. Once per turn: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy it. This card cannot attack the turn this effect is activated.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: It's pretty easy to Summon, especially since Blue-Eyes can easily be added to your hand with The White Stone of Legend and other cards. Of course, it also counts as BEWD while on the field or in the Gravyeard so anything that mentions the original will count with this guy. Destroying an opponent's monster with its effect won't do you much good though as it cannot attack the turn you activate the effect.
MVP1-EN045
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Unification of the Cubic Lords
Normal Trap
Fusion Summon 1 "Cubic" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or field as Fusion Materials. If a face-up "Cubic" monster is destroyed by battle or leaves the field: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Cubic" monster from your hand or Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions, and if you do, it cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects this turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: So far, we only have Crimson Nova Trinity to work with so I'll give this the benefit of the doubt, though you still have other ways to Fusion Summon it.
MVP1-EN044
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Cubic Mandala
Continuous Trap
If you control a "Cubic" monster: Activate this card by targeting any number of monsters that are in your opponent's Graveyard because they were destroyed and sent there this turn; Special Summon them to your opponent's field, but each becomes ATK 0 and has 1 Cubic Counter placed on it. (Monsters with a Cubic Counter cannot attack, also negate their effects.) While your opponent controls any of the monsters Summoned by this effect, negate any monster effects your opponent activates. When the last of these monsters leaves the field, destroy this card.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: All this does is give your opponent more options and since Cubic Monsters only retain ATK via their effects, it won't take much to knock them down, especially since their ATKs only go up so high.
MVP1-EN043
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Cubic Rebirth
Normal Trap
When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: Target the attacking monster; your opponent Special Summons, in Attack Position, as many monsters as possible from their hand, Deck, and/or Graveyard with the same name as that monster, also, the ATK of the targeted monster and those Special Summoned monster(s) become 0 and place 1 Cubic Counter on each. (Monsters with a Cubic Counter cannot attack, also negate their effects.) Also, after that, if any Cubic Counters were placed by this effect, Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Cubic" monster from your hand, ignoring its Summoning conditions.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: So this is how they intend to have you get Cubics out. Well it's a pitiful way to do it because while you get 1 monster, your opponent gets up to 3 and only when your opponent declares an attack. Plus, your new monster won't be Summoned by its effect and thus won't gain any ATK, unless it's Geira Guile, which is just as poor an option.
MVP1-EN042
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Info Cubic Wave
Normal Spell
Target 1 "Cubic" monster you control and 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; the ATK of that monster you control becomes double its current ATK, and if it does, the ATK of that monster your opponent controls become half its current ATK. You can banish this card and any number of "Cubic" monsters from your Graveyard, then target face-up monsters your opponent controls equal to the number of those banished "Cubic" monsters; place 1 Cubic Counter on each of them. (Monsters with a Cubic Counter cannot attack, also negate their effects.)
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Much like Cubic Karma, the strongest Cubic monsters are really the only worthwhile targets, especially since the others all only have their ATKs while they have their effects and take more effort to get out.
MVP1-EN041
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Info Cubic Karma
Continuous Spell
When this card is activated: You can target 1 "Cubic" monster you control, except "Vijam the Cubic Seed"; send any number of "Vijam the Cubic Seed" from your hand and/or Deck to the Graveyard, then that monster gains 800 ATK for each (even if this card leaves the field). During your opponent's turn, if "Vijam the Cubic Seed" is Special Summoned by the effect of a "Cubic" monster: Send this card to the Graveyard, and if you do, halve your opponent's LP. You can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 "Cubic" monster from your Deck to your hand.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Crimson Nova and Crimson Nova Trinity are really the only viable targets with this since you can't select Cubic Seed and those two are the strongest of the bunch.
MVP1-EN040
Card Type: Fusion Monster
Card Info Crimson Nova Trinity the Dark Cubic Lord
DARK / Fiend-Type Fusion / Level 10 / ATK 4500 / DEF 3000
3 x "Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord"
Must be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Materials and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Cannot be targeted, or destroyed by, your opponent's card effects. When this card declares an attack: Halve your opponent's LP. When this card destroys a monster by battle: You can activate this effect; this card can make a second attack during this Battle Phase. If you take effect damage: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the damage you took.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: There's enough benefits here that getting those three boss monsters together for this guy is worthwhile, especially since your opponent's LP are halved whenever it attacks and they'll take effect damage when you do.
MVP1-EN039
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord
DARK / Fiend / Level 10 / ATK 3000 / DEF 0
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by revealing 3 other "Cubic" cards in your hand with different names, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Unaffected by other monsters' activated effects, whose original ATK is 3000 or less. When this attacking card destroys a monster by battle: You can activate this effect; this card can make a second attack during this Battle Phase. During your End Phase: Each player takes 3000 damage. You can only use this effect of "Crimson Nova the Dark Cubic Lord" once per turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: I'd rate it higher but once it's out, both players are hit for major damage at every End Phase it stays out, leaving you to only play it when your LP are higher and that's not always going to work out.
MVP1-EN038
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Indiora Doom Volt the Cubic Emperor
LIGHT / Fairy / Level 4 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by sending 3 "Cubic" monsters you control to the Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. If Summoned this way, this card gains 2400 ATK. If this card is Special Summoned from the hand: Inflict 800 damage to your opponent. If this card in your possession is sent to your Graveyard by your opponent's card (by battle or card effect): You can target up to 3 "Cubic" monsters in your Graveyard; Special Summon them, then you can add 1 "Cubic" card from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: If you want a Level 4 monster with 2400 ATK, try Lionhearted Locomotive, which also doesn't have a terrible summoning requirement attached.
MVP1-EN037
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Vulcan Dragni the Cubic King
FIRE / Fairy / Level 3 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by sending 2 "Cubic" monsters you control to the Graveyard. If Summoned this way, this card gains 1600 ATK. If this card is Special Summoned from the hand: Inflict 800 damage to your opponent. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card battled: You can target up to 3 "Vijam the Cubic Seed" in your Graveyard; send this card to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon them, then you can add 1 "Indiora Doom Volt the Cubic Emperor" from your Deck to your hand.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: The so-called Cubic King has a mere 1600 ATK when Buster Gundil can have 3000 and there's another card that already has that ATK coming up.
MVP1-EN036
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Geira Guile the Cubic King
WIND / Fairy / Level 2 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by sending 1 "Cubic" monster you control to the Graveyard. If Summoned this way, this card gains 800 ATK. If this card is Special Summoned from the hand: Inflict 800 damage to your opponent. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card battled: You can target up to 2 "Vijam the Cubic Seed" in your Graveyard; send this card to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon them, then you can add 1 "Vulcan Dragni the Cubic King" from your Deck to your hand.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: Perhaps the worst offender is this guy. Even when Summoned by its effect, it'll only have 800 ATK and deal feeble burn damage when Special Summoned from the hand and while trading it for two Cubic Seeds from your Graveyard would be better, you might as well not bother with this card at all.
MVP1-EN035
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Buster Gundil the Cubic Behemoth
LIGHT / Beast / Level 4 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by sending 3 "Cubic" monsters you control to the Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. If Summoned this way, this card gains 3000 ATK. This card can make a second and third attack during each Battle Phase. If this card in your possession is sent to your Graveyard by your opponent's card (by battle or card effect): You can target up to 3 "Cubic" monsters in your Graveyard; Special Summon them, then you can add 1 "Cubic" card from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: Even with the few Cubic monsters you can send to bring this guy out, you still had to work hard just for a Level 4 monster that will only have 3000 ATK while it has its effects.
MVP1-EN034
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Blade Garoodia the Cubic Beast
FIRE / Beast / Level 3 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by sending 2 "Cubic" monsters you control to the Graveyard. If Summoned this way, this card gains 2000 ATK. This card can make a second attack during each Battle Phase. When this card destroys a monster by battle: You can target up to 3 "Vijam the Cubic Seed" in your Graveyard; send this card to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon them, then you can add 1 "Buster Gundil the Cubic Behemoth" from your Deck to your hand.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: As long as that first line of text resides, there's no reason for me to give a rating higher than 1 unless the effects are well worth it. This guy doesn't meet such criteria either.
MVP1-EN033
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Dark Garnex the Cubic Beast
EARTH / Beast / Level 2 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by sending 1 "Cubic" monster you control to the Graveyard. If Summoned this way, this card gains 1000 ATK. When this card destroys a monster by battle: You can target up to 2 "Vijam the Cubic Seed" in your Graveyard; send this card to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon them, then you can add 1 "Blade Garoodia the Cubic Beast" from your Deck to your hand.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: The card's very first line of text pretty much ruins this card's chances of having even a 2 star rating because everything else hinges on that and is not very good at all.
MVP1-EN032
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Vijam the Cubic Seed
DARK / Fiend / Level 1 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
Cannot be destroyed by battle. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card battled an opponent's monster: You can place this card face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone as a Continuous Spell Card, and if you do, place 1 Cubic Counter on that opponent's monster. (Monsters with a Cubic Counter cannot attack, also negate their effects.) If this card is treated as a Continuous Spell Card by this effect, during your Main Phase: You can Special Summon this card from your Spell & Trap Zone.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: As weak as Arcana Force 0 but better by far given that you can still change its battle positon and you can also put it in your Spell &Trap Card Zone to avoid monster destruction.
MVP1-EN031
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Spiritual Swords of Revealing Light
Continuous Trap
Once per attack, when an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can pay 1000 LP; negate that attack. During your opponent's turn: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; this turn, your opponent's monsters cannot attack directly.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: A pricy way to save your monsters and/or LP but it may prove to be better than taking direct damage or losing that monster.
MVP1-EN030
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Metalhold the Moving Blockade
Continuous Trap
Activate this card by targeting any number of Level 4 Machine-Type monsters you control; Special Summon this card as an Effect Monster (Machine-Type/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 0/DEF 0), then equip those face-up monsters to this card. (This card is also still a Trap Card.) If Summoned this way, this card gains ATK equal to the combined ATK of the monsters equipped to it by this effect, monsters your opponent controls cannot target monsters you control for attacks, except this one, also your opponent cannot target monsters you control with card effects, except this one.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: Much like Metamorphortress, this card snatches your monsters to protect itself, leaving them more vulnerable than they were as monsters. Worse still, this guy has literally 0 DEF on its own so losing its precious inhabitants leaves it exceptionally vulnerable.
MVP1-EN029
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Final Geas
Normal Trap
If a monster(s) with an original Level of 7 or higher is sent from each player's field to the Graveyard this turn: Banish as many monsters from the Graveyards as possible, then you can Special Summon the 1 highest-Level Spellcaster-Type monster among those banished monsters to your field (your choice, if tied).
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: You're hurting yourself just to have the chance to retrieve a Spellcaster from the banished pile you created. Not exactly a worthwhile trade-off.
MVP1-EN028
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Magicians' Defense
Continuous Trap
While you control a Spellcaster-Type monster, any damage you take is halved. (You cannot halve the same damage twice this way.) If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can target 1 Spellcaster-Type monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Halving damage can allow you to last a bit longer in a duel but you'll need a Spellcaster to stay out to even get that benefit, though should this card go, you'll get a Spellcaster from your Grave in return.
MVP1-EN027
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Metamorphortress
Continuous Trap
Activate this card by targeting 1 Level 4 or higher monster you control; Special Summon this card as an Effect Monster (Rock-Type/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 1000/DEF 1000), then equip that face-up monster to this card. (This card is also still a Trap Card.) If Summoned this way, this card gains ATK and DEF equal to the ATK of the monster equipped to it by this effect, also if it attacks, change it to Defense Position at the end of the Damage Step.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: So this guy is supposed to make one of your monsters its host but then switches to Defense Mode after attacking and with only 1000 ATK and DEF to start, once the attached monster is gone, this card won't be far behind.
MVP1-EN026
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Dark Horizon
Normal Trap
When you take battle or effect damage: Special Summon 1 DARK Spellcaster-Type monster from your Deck with ATK less than or equal to the damage you took.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: The stronger the Spellcaster you want, the more damage you have to take and there's no guarantee that what you bring out will survive. You'd probably be better off with Dark Magic Veil.
MVP1-EN025
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Dimension Mirage
Continuous Trap
Activate this card by targeting 1 face-up Attack Position monster your opponent controls. At the end of the Damage Step, when it attacks a monster, but the attack target was not destroyed by the battle: You can banish 1 monster from your Graveyard; it must attack again in a row. If the targeted monster leaves the field, destroy this card.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: Getting rid of a potential monster revival later isn't worth forcing the monster to attack twice, especially when we have An Unfortunate Report to do that for us without having you lose anything from anywhere in your possession.
MVP1-EN024
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Dimension Guardian
Continuous Trap
Activate this card by targeting 1 face-up Attack Position monster you control. It cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. If the targeted monster leaves the field, destroy this card.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: Since the card's effect only initially applies if the monster is in Attack Mode, you can switch it to Defense Mode later and still have this card protecting it.
MVP1-EN023
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Dimension Sphinx
Continuous Trap
Activate this card by targeting 1 face-up Attack Position monster you control. Once per battle, during the Battle Step, if it is attacked by an opponent's monster with higher ATK: You can inflict damage to your opponent equal to the difference between the attacking monster's ATK and the targeted monster's. If the targeted monster leaves the field, destroy this card.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 1
Comments: Regardless of how much damage you deal your opponent, the monster probably isn't going to stick around afterwards without help and this only works on monsters in face-up Attack Position.
MVP1-EN022
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Dig of Destiny
Normal Trap
When you take battle damage: Draw 1 card. If this card in its owner's control is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can draw cards, equal to the number of "Dig of Destiny" in your Graveyard.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: The 2nd effect makes this almost better than Defense Draw because you can draw extra cards, though only when you have extra copies in the Graveyard.
MVP1-EN021
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Dimension Reflector
Continuous Trap
Activate this card by banishing 2 monsters you control, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; Special Summon this card in Attack Position as an Effect Monster (Spellcaster-Type/DARK
/Level 4/ATK ?/DEF ?) with ATK and DEF equal to that face-up monster's ATK. (This card is also still a Trap Card.) If this monster is Summoned this way: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to this card's ATK.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: You could probably get away with banishing 2 Tokens and then get a Beatstick out of this but once it's dealt the damage, there isn't anything else you can do with it.
MVP1-EN020
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Info Magical Contract Door
Normal Spell
Add 1 Spell Card from your hand to your opponent's hand, then add 1 Level 7 or 8 DARK monster from your Deck to your hand.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: It may help with cards that require you to declare a card in your opponent's hand but there aren't many of those and even fewer good ones but either way, you do get any Level 7 or 8 DARK monster from your Deck and can give your opponent a worthless Spell Card for it.
MVP1-EN019
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Info Dark Magic Veil
Normal Spell
Pay 1000 LP; Special Summon 1 DARK Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand or Graveyard.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Less steep or restrictive than Dark Magic Curtain, which gets Dark Magician from the Deck for half your LP but this is still has restraints and not all DARK Spellcasters are worthwhile for the price.
MVP1-EN018
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Gold Gadget
LIGHT / Machine / Level 4 / ATK 1700 / DEF 800
When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 Machine-Type monster from your hand. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 "Gadget" monster from your Deck, except "Gold Gadget". You can only use 1 "Gold Gadget" effect per turn, and only once that turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: While not searchable, its Attribute is also LIGHT so Honest can help it take down anything in its way and it has everything else Silver Gadget has to offer.
MVP1-EN017
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Silver Gadget
LIGHT / Machine / Level 4 / ATK 1500 / DEF 1000
When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 Machine-Type monster from your hand. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 "Gadget" monster from your Deck, except "Silver Gadget". You can only use 1 "Silver Gadget" effect per turn, and only once that turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: Unlike the original Gadgets, which only fetch their friends, this guy and its partner bring the new monster straight to the field, all whether Normal or Special Summoned, making it a great use with Shining Angel. Plus, you also have Honest in case it gets attacked, or you can let it fall and replace it with its twin or another Gadget monster. The downside is, if you use one effect, you can't use the other or either effect on any other copies you bring out right away.
MVP1-EN016
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Kiwi Magician Girl
WIND / Spellcaster / Level 5 / ATK 1800 / DEF 1200
During either player's turn: You can discard this card; "Magician Girl" monsters you currently control gain 300 ATK and DEF for each "Magician Girl" monster with different names on the field and in the Graveyards, until the end of this turn. Spellcaster-Type monsters you control cannot be destroyed by card effects, and your opponent cannot target them with card effects.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: By default, the affected Magician Girls you control will gain 600 ATK (300 for itself and 300 from Kiwi's effect), which could be enough to take down a threat but the stronger the affected monster(s) are, the less likely they'll be attacked. The other effect is probably the better of the two, though that'll mean either Tribute Summoning her, which is pretty bad, or Special Summoning her.
MVP1-EN015
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Apple Magician Girl
FIRE / Spellcaster / Level 3 / ATK 1200 / DEF 800
Once per turn, if this card is targeted for an attack: You can Special Summon 1 Level 5 or lower Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand, then change the attack target to it, and if you do, the attacking monster's ATK becomes half its current ATK. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can target up to 3 other "Magician Girl" monsters with different names in your Graveyard; add them to your hand.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: You won't be Special Summoning the likes of Dark Magician or Dark Magician Girl but you still have the likes of Gemini Elf to choose from and she'll halve the ATK of the other monster while forcing it to battle your new monster. The other effect isn't too bad either.
MVP1-EN014
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Berry Magician Girl
EARTH / Spellcaster / Level 1 / ATK 400 / DEF 400
If this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 "Magician Girl" monster from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when your opponent activates a card or effect that targets this card, or targets this card for an attack: You can change this card's battle position, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Magician Girl" monster from your Deck, except "Berry Magician Girl".
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: If it weren't for the last effect, I'd have certainly given her only one star because she's weak and has to be Normal Summoned to get anything. Of course, what she actually has, isn't a great deal better.
MVP1-EN013
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Marshmacaron
LIGHT / Fairy / Level 1 / ATK 200 / DEF 200
If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon up to 2 other "Marshmacaron" from your hand, Deck, and/or Graveyard. You can only use this effect of "Marshmacaron" once per turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: A variant of Marshmallon that replaces itself from pretty much anywhere in your possession but they're pretty weak and don't do anything else.
MVP1-EN012
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Sentry Soldier of Stone
EARTH / Rock / Level 3 / ATK 1300 / DEF 2000
If all monsters you control are Rock-Type monsters (min. 1) while this card is in your Graveyard: You can Special Summon this card. You can only use this effect of "Sentry Soldier of Stone" once per turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: The next evolution of Giant Soldier of Stone doesn't bring much but in an all Rock-Type monster Deck, this probably won't be too bad, especially with 2000 DEF.
MVP1-EN011
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Krystal Avatar
Continuous Trap
When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack, if its ATK is greater than or equal to your LP: Special Summon this card in Attack Position as an Effect Monster (Warrior-Type/LIGHT/Level 4/
ATK ?/DEF 0) that has ATK equal to your LP, then change the attack target to this card. (This card is also still a Trap Card.) If this card Summoned this way is destroyed by battle, after damage calculation: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: A bit risky to play but if successful, you''ll not only have a new monster that'll probably be a powerhouse unless your LP are low and then if it's destroyed, you'll deal some effect damage too.
MVP1-EN010
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Counter Gate
Normal Trap
When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: Negate the attack, and if you do, draw 1 card, then if it is a monster, immediately after this effect resolves, you can Normal Summon it in face-up Attack Position.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: For risking it all on a direct attack, this card doesn't provide you with much hope because unless your new card is a monster, which is a 1 in 3 chance, your new card probably won't help you, though you probably won't get a strong monster anyway.
MVP1-EN009
Card Type: Trap Card
Card Info Induced Explosion
Normal Trap
When a card(s) you control is destroyed by a Spell effect (except during the Damage Step): Target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it. During either player's turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard, when a card(s) you control is destroyed by a Spell effect (except during the Damage Step): You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: It's specific to destruction by a Spell effect but you could at least lessen the damage you take.
MVP1-EN008
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Info Chaos Form
Ritual Spell
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Chaos" or "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field, and/or banish "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" or "Dark Magician" from your Graveyard, whose total Levels exactly equal the Level of the "Chaos" or "Black Luster Soldier" Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: If you're going to go through the trouble of using a Blue-Eyes or Dark Magician to Ritual Summon, you might as well do it from the hand but luckily, you don't have to and this doesn't just work to bring out Chaos MAX Dragon.
MVP1-EN007
Card Type: Spell Card
Card Info Dragon's Fighting Spirit
Quick-Play Spell
Target 1 Dragon-Type monster you control that was Special Summoned this turn; for each monster your opponent currently controls that was Special Summoned this turn, it gains 1 additional attack during each Battle Phase this turn.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Since this'll likely be activated on your turn (as your monster cannot attack on your opponent's turn), you may be able to win but it's not likely your opponent will do much Special Summoning on your turn.
MVP1-EN006
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Pandemic Dragon
DARK / Dragon / Level 7 / ATK 2500 / DEF 1000
Once per turn: You can pay LP in multiples of 100; other face-up monsters on the field lose that much ATK. Once per turn: You can target 1 monster on the field with ATK less than or equal to this card's; destroy it. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: All face-up monsters on the field lose 1000 ATK.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: Not very strong for a Level 7 monster but it can at least overcome that using its effect, or better yet Burden of the Mighty. Of course, its destruction means your monsters get weker too.
MVP1-EN005
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Deep-Eyes White Dragon
LIGHT / Dragon / Level 10 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
When a face-up "Blue-Eyes" monster(s) you control is destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect, and you have a Dragon-Type monster in your Graveyard: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, inflict 600 damage to your opponent for each Dragon-Type monster with different names in your Graveyard. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: Target 1 Dragon-Type monster in your Graveyard; this card's ATK becomes equal to that monster's. If this card on the field is destroyed by a card effect: Destroy all monsters your opponent controls.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: I'll give it some credit for being able to become a Beatstick under almost any way of being Summoned, though that's dependent on what's in your Graveyard at the time and without that, it doesn't really have the ability to survive in either battle position. You may also get some decent burn damage though, but that also depends on what's in your Graveyard.
MVP1-EN004
Card Type: Ritual Monster
Card Info Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon
DARK / Dragon-Type Ritual / Level 8 / ATK 4000 / DEF 0
You can Ritual Summon this card with "Chaos Form". Must be Ritual Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Cannot be targeted, or destroyed by, your opponent's card effects. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict double piercing battle damage to your opponent.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: While it has to be Ritual Summoned, you can easily do so using Ritual Raven to count as the entire Tribute and thus you'll have a monster immune to your opponent's effects and doubling any damage it deals with attackinng Defense Position monsters.
MVP1-EN003
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Assault Wyvern
LIGHT / Dragon / Level 4 / ATK 1800 / DEF 1000
When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type monster from your hand or Graveyard, except "Assault Wyvern".
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: The effect probably isn't in your best interest to use as you risk losing the new monster and thus leaving you with one less obstacle for your opponent to overcome but you still have a solid Beatstick that Honest can partner up with.
MVP1-EN002
Card Type: Effect Monster
Card Info Kaiser Vorse Rader
DARK / Beast-Warrior / Level 5 / ATK 1900 / DEF 1200
If you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: This card gains 500 ATK. If this card is destroyed by battle: The monster that destroyed it loses 500 ATK.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 3
Comments: It'll get stronger with each monster it takes out and can be Special Summoned in a fairly easy way.
MVP1-EN001
Card Type: Fusion Monster
Card Info Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon
LIGHT / Dragon-Type Fusion / Level 12 / ATK 4500 / DEF 3800
"Blue-Eyes White Dragon" + "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" + "Blue-Eyes White Dragon"
At the end of the Damage Step, if this is the only face-up card you control, and this Fusion Summoned card attacked: You can send 1 "Blue-Eyes" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck to the Graveyard; this card can attack again in a row. You can use this effect of "Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" up to twice per turn. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets a "Blue-Eyes" monster(s) you control: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.
ULTRA RARE
Rating: 2
Comments: As easy to Summon as the original BEUD but not much better because allowing it to attack extra times forces you to waste Extra Deck space with Blue-Eyes Fusions you probably won't be using anywhere else and even this doesn't guarantee successful attacks. On top of that, its protection effect forces it banish itself from your Graveyard, reducing the odds of an easy revival later.
