Yu-Gi-Oh Anime Cards (Page 10)

*Card effects below are as accurate as possible.
Episode 176: Grappling with a Guardian (3)
Altar of Restoration
Anime Normal Spell
Remove from play the top 2 cards of your Deck and select 1 card in your Graveyard. Add that card to your hand.
COMMON
Rating: 1
Comments: There are far better ways to retrieve cards from your Graveyard than this.
Spirit Hunting
Anime Normal Trap
Select 1 monster you control. Change its battle position, then destroy all Defense Position monsters your opponent controls.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: If your monster has high ATK and your opponent is just running a Stall Deck, this wouldn't be too bad but is still pretty situational.
Episode 175: Grappling with a Guardian (2)
Underworld Circle
Anime Continuous Spell
Destroy all monsters on the field and remove from play all monsters in both players' hands and Decks. Once per turn, during each Standby Phase, each player can Special Summon 1 monster from their Graveyard, ignoring the Summoning conditions. If a monster is destroyed, remove it from play instead of sending it to the Graveyard.
COMMON
Rating: 1
Comments: People seem to think it's an overpowered card but both players end up with less and less monsters because what's in their hand and Deck is automatically banished. Really don't see why this would need any changes if released.
Magical Pigeon
Anime Quick-Play Spell
Return 1 face-up "Dark Magician Girl" you control to your hand. Special Summon 2 "Pigeon Tokens" (WIND/Winged Beast-Type/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Defense Position. During the End Phase, destroy all "Pigeon Tokens" you control, and Special Summon 1 "Dark Magician Girl" from your hand.
COMMON
Rating: 1
Comments: Swapping Dark Magician Girl for 2 tokens that won't survive is pretty stupid. You'd be better off changing DMG to Defense Mode or playing Scapegoat.
Obedience
Anime Normal Spell
This turn, when the monster on the field with the highest ATK attacks a Defense Position monster, change the attack target to face-up Attack Position.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: There are benefits to using this but some monsters have this effect built in or heck Karakuris have their own Field Spell that will change to either Battle Position.
Guardian Formation
Anime Normal Trap
Activate only when a face-up "Guardian" monster you control is selected as an attack target. Negate the attack and move the monster to an unoccupied Monster Card Zone. Then, you can activate 1 Spell Card from your hand or Deck.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: The only good thing about it is you an activate any Spell Card you want from your hand or Deck but most of the Guardians are virtually useless.
Episode 174: Grappling with a Guardian (1)
Guardian Shield
Anime Equip Spell
Equip only to a "Guardian" monster. It gains 300 DEF. If a "Guardian" monster you control would be destroyed by battle, you can destroy this card instead.
COMMON
Rating: 1
Comments: Meaningless DEF boost and other cards such as Mist Body can prevent any monster's destruction in battle and/or card effects without giving themselves up. Plus as stated earlier, Guardians are pretty well useless except for Eatos and even that doesn't warrant using this card.
Guardian Force
Anime Counter Trap
Activate only while there are no "Guardian" monsters in your Graveyard. Negate the activation of an opponent's Spell, Trap, or monster effect and destroy it.
COMMON
Rating: 3
Comments: Since Guardian monsters are pretty well useless in today's meta, this card would inevitably get some use if left as is because the odds of not having Guardians in the owner's Graveyard will be quite high.
Episode 173: Fighting for a Friend (5)
Vow of Tribe
Anime Normal Trap
If both players each control a face-up monster with the same name as each other, those monsters cannot attack this turn.
COMMON
Rating: 1
Comments: It's utterly pointless because you can prevent monsters from attacking regardless of what their names are.
Episode 172: Fighting for a Friend (4)
Nightmare Tri-Mirror
Anime Normal Trap
Activate only when your opponent Special Summons a monster(s). Select 1 face-up monster you control. For each monster your opponent Special Summoned, Special Summon 1 "Copy Token" that has the same original card name, Level, Type, Attribute, ATK, DEF, and effect(s) as the selected monster. During the turn they are Summoned, "Copy Tokens" cannot attack or be Tributed for a Tribute Summon (or Set).
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: It's easily triggered but there's very little you can do with your new Tokens and since we don't have the ability to have 10 monsters on the field at once like with the anime, the best we can get out of this is 4 Tokens, which Scapegoat already does for even less effort and it's a Quick-Play Spell.
Aero Nail
Anime Equip Spell
Equip only to "Harpie Lady". It gains 300 ATK. If this face-up card on the field would be sent to the Graveyard, you can equip this card to another "Harpie Lady" on the field instead.
COMMON
Rating: 1
Comments: It's utterly worthless if you equip it to any Harpie Lady you have because at best, that means 2100 ATK with Cyber Harpie Lady and there are better Equip Spells that can recycle themselves.
Take One Chance
Anime Normal Trap
Select 1 random card in your Graveyard. If it is a Monster Card, Special Summon it, ignoring the Summoning conditions. If it is a Spell or Trap Card, activate it immediately, ignoring the activation conditions.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: You'll get to use the new card right away even if the activation requirements aren't met but you may get a card you don't want to play and that could cost you the Duel.
Phoenix Gravitation
Anime Normal Spell
Activate only if you control a face-up "Psychic Armor Head". Special Summon 4 Armor monsters from your Graveyard. All monsters Special Summoned by this effect are destroyed during the End Phase.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: Although you'll lose the monsters during the End Phase, you can still do other things with them and more so than what would've been possible in the anime where this card appeared but it still needs you to have the worthless Psychic Armor Head out.
Episode 171: Fighting for a Friend (3)
Extinction Fist
Anime Normal Trap
Activate only when your opponent declares a direct attack with a Fusion Monster or a Ritual Monster. Destroy that monster, and Special Summon the monster(s) that were used to Summon that monster from your opponent's Graveyard to their side of the field. Then, end the Battle Phase.
COMMON
Rating: 1
Comments: A steep activation requirement because it not only requires you to be attacked directly but be attacked directly by a Ritual or Fusion Monster, which is pretty rare these days and your opponent gets possibly more monsters than they lost while all you get is a free pass to watch them go through the rest of their turn and Negate Attack will do all this better.
Roll of Fate
Anime Normal Spell
Roll a six-sided die. Draw cards equal to the result, then send an equal number of cards from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: We got this in the form of Sixth Sense but that's a Trap Card and is currently banned so this is basically a Spell Card Sixth Sense.
Aura Armor
Normal Trap
Activate only when an opponent's monster declares a direct attack while your Life Points are 2000 or less. Negate the attack, and Special Summon 1 "Player Token" (Warrior-Type/EARTH/Level 4/ATK ?/DEF ?). When that "Player Token" is Special Summoned, halve your Life Points. The ATK and DEF of the "Player Token" are equal to your Life Points.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: Do I really need to explain why this card is so bad? Strict activation requirements and restraining your Token's ATK and DEF to your LP, which although can be good, in our case, the best it could be in most cases is 4000 but that'll quickly drop over time.
Black Hole Shield
EARTH / Machine-Type Armor / Level 4 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
When another face-up Armor monster you control is selected as an attack target, you can Tribute this card. If you do, this turn, that monster cannot be destroyed by battle, and you take no Battle Damage from battles involving that monster. (Only 1 Armor monster can attack per turn. If you control 2 or more Armor monsters, and 1 is selected as an attack target, you can change the target to another Armor monster you control.)
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: Other than Tributing itself, there isn't really anything good about it except to redirect attacks made on it.
Episode 170: Fighting for a Friend (2) (Continued)
Data Brain
Anime Equip Spell
Equip only to "Psychic Armor Head". If the equipped monster is destroyed by the effect of an opponent's Spell Card, during your next turn, you can activate this card from your Graveyard treated as that Spell Card, and its effect is the same as that Spell Card's. If this card is activated this way, destroy it during the End Phase.
COMMON
Rating: 2
Comments: You'll get to do some payback on your opponent but only have a 1 in 3 chance of doing so as the equipped monster has to be destroyed by a Spell effect and once it's used, this card self-destructs.
Buster Pile
EARTH / Machine-Type Armor / Level 4 / ATK 0 / DEF 0
This card cannot be destroyed by battle. You take no Battle Damage from battles involving this card. If this card attacks an opponent's monster, destroy that monster after damage calculation, and inflict 500 damage to your opponent. (Only 1 Armor monster can attack per turn. If you control 2 or more Armor monsters, and 1 is selected as an attack target, you can change the target to another Armor monster you control.)
COMMON
Rating: 3
Comments: Wasn't sure we were going to get any Armor monsters rated higher than 2 but this one sure threw that out the window by making itself invincible in battle and not only reducing battle damage you take from its battles to 0 but destroying the opponent's monster and dealing them a little burn damage.
Advanced Shield
EARTH / Machine-Type Armor / Level 4 / ATK 1000 / DEF 0
If you control no face-up Armor monsters, you cannot Summon this card. This card cannot declare an attack. (Only 1 Armor monster can attack per turn. If you control 2 or more Armor monsters, and 1 is selected as an attack target, you can change the target to another Armor monster you control.)
COMMON
Rating: 1
Comments: It cannot even attack regardless of how many Armor monsters you have and you'll need at least 1 to even Summon it but with those low stats, why would you bother using this?
