Episode 101: The Dark Mist Rises (1) | |
While Vector follows Don Thousand somewhere, Astral continues following the map
to the next dueling location. Elsewhere, a man has just opened up a children's
library, then heads out and we find it's all a ruse thanks to Vector disguised
as Ray. However, the man talking to him reveals himself as Number 96, leaving
the real congressman to fall to the floor. With that, Vector proposes to help
but Dark Mist isn't convinced until Vector shares where a new Number card is and
is willing to give that info and Barian's Force's power. Meanwhile, the airship
is experiencing turbulence Yuma is flopping around like a rag doll for not being
in his seat as requested. Number 96 and Vector arrive at site number two before
Vector feels whatever Don Thousand did to him before pressing on. While the duo proceed down the way Vector's feeling leads them, Yuma and crew arrive at the same location but Rio literally senses danger and they stop for a second before proceeding. When they see the markings on the wall, Rio is all to familiar with the legend behind them and tells the story before becoming weak temporarily. Further ahead, Vector and Dark Mist arrive where judgment was performed. Vector gets the sensation that Yuma and the others are there and despite wanting to duel them himself, Don Thousand interferes and Dark Mist takes off for the Number card. However, Dark Mist finds himself in front of the guardian of the Number and agrees to duel it. Back upstairs, Yuma uses the star on the column to guide them even though it could be a trap. It turns out to be a trap as they find themselves chased by a giant boulder. However, Yuma finds another star and activates the button it is on, allowing them to escape. Yuma figures his dad left the stars to help them avoid the traps (though given you guys fell for the trap, I'd say that's false.) Worse still, trap doors open up beneath their feet and they plunge into separate jail cell-like areas. Vector is enjoying that they're there, especially when he has the Number card they've been after. Nevertheless, Vector agrees to duel for it but it's not a duel with Yuma, it's one with Astral and Yuma gets a puny island to stand on right behind Astral. Since Vector never said he was the one to duel Astral, he sends Number 96 instead and Astral accepts After duel preparations get underway and Astral obtains Yuma's Deck, Dark Mist draws and plays Maliceverous Spoon (100) in Attack Mode. Next he discards Maliceverous Knife to Special Summon Maliceverous Fork (400) in Attack Mode. Finally, he uses MS' effect to Special Summon the discarded Maliceverous Knife (600) in Attack Mode. With that, he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 96: Dark Mist (100) in Attack Mode, a card all-too-familiar to Yuma and Astral. Dark Mist sets 1 card to end his turn so Astral draws and Special Summons Toy Knight (200) in Attack Mode since he controls no monsters. Next he summons a 2nd Toy Knight in Attack Mode and Dark Mist thinks he has it all figured out and activates Small Stopper to prevent all monsters with 1000 or less ATK from attacking and dealing Astral 1000 damage whenever a monster in Attack Mode doesn't attack. With no other option, Astral uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode. Despite Yuma's protest that it won't work, Astral has a plan and equips Utopia with Guard Robe Exchange, giving it 500 ATK to 3000. His attack prompts Dark Mist to use his effect to detach an Xyz Material from himself, halve Utopia's ATK to 1500 and gain that amount of ATK, putting his ATK up to 1600. However, this is what Astral wanted as due to GRE's effect, Dark Mist takes damage equal to the ATK Utopia lost, putting Dark Mist down by 1500 to 2500 LPs. Furthermore, Astral uses Utopia's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and negate the attack. Dark Mist wasn't dumb enough to take damage without consequence as Vector reveals that whenever Dark Mist takes damage, Yuma suffers the consequences as an axe swings above his head. If Astral wins, Yuma doesn't! |
