| Episode 39: Pets Peeved | |

We find some kind of warehouse/building where a bunch of dogs have gathered
around one dog perched higher up. After some growling and snarling, the dog
higher up orders them out. Meanwhile, Yuma learns from Bronk that he and Caswell
are doing fine. However, only the good duelists remain but Cathy is still in it
with 2 Heart Pieces. Tori advises not to make it about him and while Cathy
becomes angry, a dog snatches his Heart Pieces and races off with other dogs. As
a result, Cathy calls her cats and orders them after the dogs. The cats search
all around and eventually find the dogs' hideout. Yuma and the others follow but
are greeted by the snarling dogs. Their pack leader appears to apologize but
Cathy is in no mood to be nice. Cathy gives examples of what the dogs have done but the pack leader protests how bad cats are (Both are equally bad depending on their training. A dog trained to attack will attack but a dog trained to behave will behave.) and surprises everyone with its ability to talk, especially when it proposes a duel to settle things. Cathy accepts the duel and the pack leader accepts the conditions so duel preparations take place. To start, Cathy draws and plays Stray Cat (100) in Attack Mode before setting 2 cards to end her turn, confident that the dogs will attack it. The pack leader draws and summons Tribulldog (1200) in Attack Mode, then another Tribulldog by the first TD's effect. Then he uses Doubulldog to Special Summon a third Tribulldog from his Deck since two TDs exist on his field. After that, he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Sumo King Dog (2600) in Attack Mode. With that done, he uses Pooch Party to Special Summon 2 Pooch Party Tokens (0000 x2) in Attack Mode Now he uses Dogking, giving SKD 500 ATK per Dog monster he has out, raising its ATK by 1500 to 4100. He attacks as Cathy wanted as Cathy activates Cat Confusion to negate the attack and return SKD to the Deck. However, Pack Leader is ready with SKD's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself to negate CC and destroy it. The attack connects but Cathy activated Cat Food to Tribute SC for Stray Cat Girl (600) in Attack Mode, leaving her score down to 500 and keeping SCG on the field by its effect. Unphased, Pack Leader sets 1 card to end his turn, destroying the Pooch Party Tokens by Pooch Party's last effect and leaving SKD down to 3100 ATK. After she insults Pack Leader, Cathy draws and summons Cat Girl (1200) in Attack Mode and uses her monsters as Xyz Material for Cat Girl Magician (2000) in Attack Mode. Next she equips it with Catnip Turbine to give it 1200 ATK to 3200 but preventing it from attacking Pack Leader's monsters. However, Cathy gets around the side effect by using CGM's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself, halving its ATK to 1600 and letting it attack directly, leaving Pack Leader down to 2400 LPs. As Pack Leader retaliates, a little girl's voice is speaking too and we see the little girl on top. Realizing she's caught, the little girl hides but Cathy gets her to come out, reveal her name as Pip and speak about why she's pretending to be a dog. Furthermore, she learned her dueling from Rasco, the dog that was initially dueling. It's clear to Cathy that Pip's mind has been made up for her and will not give humans a chance. The dogs bark in retaliation and Pip is about to cry when Rasco gives her the courage to get her equipment ready to duel. When that's done, Pip draws and uses Raise the Woof to Special Summon 4 Woof Tokens (0000 x4) in Attack Mode since she controls no Level 3 or lower monsters. As a result, SKD gains 2000 more ATK to 5100. Her attack prompts Cathy to activate Gold Coins for Cats to add half of SKD's ATK to CGM but Pip uses SKD's effect again to negate the effect and destroy GCfC. Since CGM's ATK remained at 3200, Cathy then activate Counter Meowsure to not only destroy a Spell or Trap Card but double CGM's ATK this turn since one of her Trap Cards was destroyed, raising CGM's ATK to 6400. She chooses to destroy Dogking. It'd be the end as Pip thinks but Yuma and Tori help keep her confidence up to activate Superior Howl to destroy Dogking herself and return all monsters on the field to their original ATK, returning, SKD's ATK to 2600 and CGM's ATK to 2000. As a result, CGM is destroyed and Pip wins. Yuma is thrilled but realizes he still doesn't have his Heart Pieces and becomes bummed until Pip returns them. As a result, Cathy gives Pip her own Heart Pieces as a reward. Cats and dogs aren't so different because just as Pip came out of her shell, so did Cathy and the town is big enough for both animals. Astral feels that Yuma would make a good dog but Yuma is ready to obtain his last Heart Piece. |
