Episode 31: Life is a Carnival (1) | |
One night, police have gathered around a suspect that has stolen a card but the
suspect uses it to strike back. It doesn't go unnoticed as Kari finds out and is
fully aware of who the suspect is. The suspect calls Kari and we find out his
name is Charlie and seems to be making up info as he goes along, claiming to be
Kari's old boyfriend and they can discuss it if Kari brings him his motorcycle
and deliver some food. Kari is in no mood but recalls the last time they met and
gives Yuma a call. Yuma is excited to get one more duel in but gets Kari's call
and the order to keep Charlie busy while she makes food. Yuma isn't really in
the mood but obeys anyway. They know nothing about Charlie but find a commotion
nearby and rush over. Shark is in the midst of a duel where his Submersible Carrier Aero Shark finishes off his latest opponent. When Yuma confronts him, Shark admits to being in the World Duel Carnival but only as long as he needs to and that's to settle the score with Quattro. Kite is also in a duel where his Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon finishes off two opponents and obtains 2 souls and 2 Number cards. At the Dododonut area, Yuma and Tori are wading through the crowd when Tori spots Charlie and has to snap Yuma out of his recent encounter with Shark. Yuma and Charlie converse before another duelist approaches to duel instead and since Charlie isn't in the Duel Carnival, he suggests wagering one of Yuma's Heart Pieces and is confident he'll win with the luck he's been having so far. Meanwhile, Mr. Heartland updates Dr. Faker on the status of the Duel Carnival and Kite's progress. Back outside, Charlie is losing badly to his opponent, whom has 3 Xyz Monsters and all his LPs compared to Charlie's lack of monsters and 100 LPs. Yuma suggests forfeiting but Charlie resumes and draws before using Reload to shuffle all cards in his hand to his Deck, then draw the same amount from his Deck. Next he uses Triple Ace to Special Summon 3 Dice Levelers (0000) in Attack Mode. Due to their effects, Charlie rolls a die and their result is added to their Level. He beats the 1 in 216 odds and gets three sixes, making all of his monsters Level 7. Next he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 7: Lucky Straight (700) in Attack Mode. With that done, Charlie uses Dream Dice to roll a die and if he gets a six, his opponent's monsters lose all their ATKs but if not, his monster's ATK becomes 0. He gets another six, leaving his opponent's monsters without any ATK. His attack prompts him to use Number 7's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and roll a die, then multiply Lucky Straight's ATK by the die result. A six comes up again and Number 7's ATK climbs to 4200 to take out his opponent's monsters to win the duel. Astral is amazed at the overwhelming odds that Charlie overcame in the duel but the police are back and Charlie doesn't have time. Charlie plays rough again and uses his Number card to grab other Number cards like Yuma's Number 11: Big Eye and send the giant donut on top of the building to crash to the ground. Everyone but Charlie scrambles out of the way and as luck would have it, Charlie is unscathed and now owns other duelists' cards. When Charlie decides to bolt, Yuma and Tori give chase. Kari intercepts and learns what happened. Further down, they converse with what happened and what Kari's research on the Number 7 card found. Charlie was also on some of their dad's expeditions and the duo agree to look all over town to find him. Astral realizes that he's seen the phrase Life is a Carnival before and decides to lead the group to the areas surrounding where the phrase was found. Along the way, they find the police racing by on the highway below and get their next lead. Charlie is once again surrounded in front of the train, whose passengers have been released. Yuma and Tori race through and arrive in time to board the train that Charlie forced to get moving using his Number card. On board, Yuma and the others catch up to Charlie and relay the info to Kari but they're going to be there a while so Charlie proposes a duel to pass the time. Duel preparations on top of the train take place and Kari see it herself but there's no way to stop the train. It's time to get their duel started! |
