Episode 28: Heavy Metal | |
We find Yuma, Tori and Astral meandering through a construction site because
Yuma didn't want to miss the previews. Astral learns about how construction
works before Tori is threatened by falling debris and Yuma rushes to save her.
As a result, an excavator saves Tori instead and begins chasing them while
destroying the walkway. A beam gets in the way and Yuma and Tori jump over it
and leave the excavator to crash to a halt behind it. It appears to be
self-driven until a small man appears to explain everything. The man, revealed
as Cody, explains that he's in middle school like Yuma and Tori and is just
short. Tori commends him for his bravery and he shows his embarrassment towards
her. Cody then explains the dump truck below and Yuma takes it more literal than
needed (though calling loads "hogs" doesn't exactly make it easier to
understand). Astral is worried about how metal beams are only held together with bolts before Cody gloats at how good his Deck is and he's also in the World Duel Carnival. They agree on a duel and duel preparations get underway before Cody draws and summons Jumbo Drill (1800) in Attack Mode. Next, he uses Charging Construction to Special Summon Road Roller (2100) in Defense Mode since he played a Machine-Type monster. Due to JD's effect, it gains 300 ATK since Cody controls another Machine-Type monster. (The real card doesn't have this effect.) With that, he sets 1 card to end his turn so Yuma draws and summons Gagaga Magician (1500) in Attack Mode, then later regrets it when he realizes that it's the weakest monster. However, Yuma regains his confidence and equips GM with Bound Wand, raising its ATK by 100 times its Level to 1900. Next, he uses GM's effect to make it Level 8, giving it 400 more ATK by BW's effect to put its ATK up to 2300. His attack prompts Cody to activate Foreman's Fury to make GM lose 1000 ATK, bringing it down to 1300. As a result, GM is destroyed and Yuma is on the ground and down to 3200 LPs. Due to BW's other effect, Yuma revives Gagaga Magician in Defense Mode, then sets 1 card to end his turn, leaving Cody to question Yuma's strategy. Cody then draws and summons Strong Shovel Excavator (1800) in Attack Mode, giving JD 300 more ATK to 2400. Next, he attacks GM with SSE but Yuma counters with Half Unbreak to prevent its destruction in battle and halve the Battle Damage. Nevertheless, Cody attacks with JD to leave Yuma down to 2500 LPs. However, JD hen goes to Defense Mode by its effect. Yuma draws and after switching GM to Attack Mode, summons Mystical Donator (800) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to make its ATK 0 and give the boost to GM, raising GM's ATK by 800 to 2300. His attack takes out SSE to leave Cody on the ground and down to 3500 LPs. Finally, he sets 1 card to end his turn, returning his monsters' ATKs to normal. Yuma protests that it's not all about power but Cody disagrees as he's been through hard times due to his height. Cody draws and uses Scrap and Build to Special Summon Strong Shovel Exvavator from the Graveyard, activating SSE's effect to give it 1 Level to Level 4. Next he uses Overhaul to give his monsters a Level to Level 5. Now he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry (3200) in Attack Mode. Worse still, Cody uses Digvorzhak's effect to detach an Xyz Material and send the top 3 cards of Yuma's Deck to the Graveyard and destroy 1 monster on the field for each monster sent to the Graveyard. Since 2 monsters are sent, Yuma loses his 2 monsters on the field. Cody attacks directly and after some miscommunications, Yuma activates Small Resistance to make Digvorzhak lose ATK equal to the ATK of a monster with 1000 or less ATK in Yuma's Graveyard and Yuma chooses Mystical Donator, making Digvorzhak lose 800 ATK 2400 and leaving Yuma down to 100 LPs. Astral shows Yuma a weakness in how buildings and machines are created using just a nut on the ground. Yuma gets the idea and draws before playing Kurivolt (300) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Kurivolt's effect to convert Digvorzhak's Xyz Materials into Kurivolt Tokens. (The real card detaches 1 Xyz Material to Special Summon 1 Kurivolt from your Deck.) Next he uses Mini-Guts and orders the tokens to attach to Digvorzhak. Nothing seems to happen until Digvorzhak begins moving and loses all of its bolts and thus its ATK by MG's effect as Yuma tributed 2 Level 1 monsters to make Digvorzhak's ATK 0. (The real card lets you Tribute any monster you control.) His attack not only takes out Digvorzhak to leave Cody down to 3200 but since the monster affected by MG was destroyed in battle, Cody takes its original ATK as damage, winning Yuma the duel. Yuma explains not to underestimate tiny monsters and Cody gives Yuma his Hear Piece, having underestimated what he's capable of. Tori asks COdy if he'd like to see a movie with them but another worker scolds Cody for being there in the first place and the group races off. |
