Episode 20: Roots of the Problem | |
At a duel, a duelist uses their 3 Giant Germs as Xyz Material for
Number 96: Dark Mist (100) in Attack Mode. In
spite of Bronk and Astrals' fears, Yuma attacks to take out Number 96 to win the
duel and eventually claim the card. Afterwards, Bronk reminds Yuma of keeping
his roots but Yuma not only doesn't want them, he's going solo and the two get
into an argument. The next day, Yuma finds himself constantly running into his
battle-scarred buddy and neither of them make any attempt to make-up. Later,
Bronk and Yuma are in different areas recalling their past duels. That evening,
Tori orders Yuma to apologize to Bronk but Yuma doesn't have the courage, even
when Bronk is standing right in front of him. Bronk walks away but when Yuma gets his attention, Bronk knocks Yuma's key off his neck and Yuma lands on the ground where a puddle of black liquid appears. The liquid has become a black version of Astral that is trying to take control of Astral since Yuma dropped his key and allowed Number 96 to escape. Worse still, Astral is thrown into the abyss and Number 96 captures Yuma, whom is forced to give Utopia to Bronk. Number 96 tries to take Utopia but Yuma's key shields Bronk and Bronk proposes a duel for the card. Dark Mist agrees and lets Yuma go before duel preparations get underway. Bronk starts the duel by summoning Aye-Iron (1600) in Attack Mode. Next, he equips it with Spring Punch, dealing Yuma half of AI's ATK when it gains ATK. Next, Bronk uses AI's effect to give itself 400 ATK to 2000, triggering SP's effect to deal Yuma 1000 damage, brining his score down to 3000. Finally, he plays Gearspring Catapult to end his turn. Dark Mist and Yuma draw before they Summon Acorno (200) in Attack Mode by discarding Pinecono. Next, they Special Summon Pinecono (400) in Attack Mode since it was sent from the hand to the Graveyard. Then he plays Darklon (100) in Attack Mode, triggering its effect to increase the Levels of his monsters by 1 to Level 2. Now he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 96: Dark Mist in Attack Mode and this reveals its true form. They attack and activate Dark Mist's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself, half AI's ATK to 1000 and add the amount to its own ATK, raising its ATK to 1100. Their attack takes out AI to leave Bronk down to 3900 LPs. Finally, they sets card to end their turn. Bronk isn't scared and puts a counter on his GC. Next he summons Tin Goldfish (800) in Attack Mode. After that, he uses Iron Call to Special Summon Aye-Iron from the Graveyard in Defense Mode since he controls a Machine-Type monster. Now he uses Iron Draw to draw 2 cards since he controls 2 Machine-Type monsters. Next he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 39: Utopia (2500) in Attack Mode, then uses GP's effect to remove a counter and give Utopia 500 ATK to 3000 this turn. His attack prompts Yuma and Dark Mist to use Dark Mist's effect again to halve Utopia's ATK to 1500 and give itself half of Utopia's ATK to 2600. As a result, Bronk uses Utopia's effect to detach an Xyz Material to negate the attack. Dark Mist and Yuma wanted this and activate Counterforce to deal Bronk the difference in their two monsters' ATKs since Bronk negated the attack, bringing him down to 2800 LPs. While Astral calls out to Yuma with a plan, Bronk continues his turn with Automatic Gearspring Machine, giving it 2 Gearspring Counters, then 1 more GC during each of his following turns or he can send it to the Graveyard and move the counters to a different card. Bronk sets 1 card to end his turn, bringing Utopia down by 500 to 1000 since GC's effect expired. Yuma and Dark Mist draw and attack with Dark Mist, raisng DM to 3100 and bringing Utopia down to 500 by DM's effect. As a result, Bronk uses Utopia's effect but Yuma and Dark Mist counter with Overlay Banish to negate the effect, leaving Utopia to be destroyed in the attack and bring Bronk to the ground and down to 200 LPs. Next, after Yuma spoils Bronk's strategy to Dark Mist, the duo resume their turn and use Xyz Cyclone to destroy Bronk's Gearspring Exploder since an Xyz Monster was destroyed and thus end their turn. Bronk isn't about to give up and realizes that Yuma was leading Dark Mist down the wrong path and draws. Next he gains counters for his 2 Gearspring Spell Cards, then removes 3 from AGM to Special Summon Gearspring Spirit (100) in Attack Mode. Due to GS' effect, Bronk makes Number 96's ATK 0 this turn. Then he uses Monster Reborn to revive Utopia in Attack Mode. Yuma and Bronk reveal that Yuma had been tricking Dark Mist to forget about GC and Bronk uses GC's effect to remove a counter and give Utopia 500 ATK to 3000. His attack takes out Dark Mist to win the duel before giving Yuma his key back while Astral dispels of Dark Mist for good. While Yuma and Bronk celebrate, Astral looks at his newly obtained Number 96 card and wonders if other memories are like it. |
