Episode 56: Sad but Truesdale

Chazz is making a documentary on Jaden and his crew. Syrus and Hassleberry are trading insults. Jaden asks for them to calm down since they're going to be roommates. Chazz continues his documentary with the "natural habitat" phrase. Did Chazz forget how to knock (actually, knowing Chazz didn't CARE to knock.) Jaden says his documentary needs a plot twist. Alexis arrives, saying she left her dorm for good and asks if they have room for one more. Chazz shows Alexis "Chez Chazz". Jaden asks if it's overdoing it but Syrus said they overdid it between the bowling alley and the three-ring circus. Alexis is impressed with Chazz and asks if she can "crash" there. Wasn't she just going to crash in their room? Chazz says that she can't help wanting the best. Jaden isn't convinced. So why'd Alexis leave her dorm? Alexis says that Crowler wanted her to wear a red dress and become some pop star when she duels. Can they even picture her wearing it? (Chazz can) She then says that Crowler's using them to make his career better.

Bastion shows, saying that he was looking for Syrus about a duel between him and an Obelisk Blue named Missy. Alexis says that she hates that girl but she's seen her duel and says she's very good. Syrus requests that when he finds the brave Syrus to tell him that the wimpy one is looking for him and runs off crying. Hassleberry chases after him. In the Slifer Red Dorm, Hassleberry tells Syrus that he can't hide in there forever. Syrus knows, he just wants to hide for a week tops, he has all that he needs. Hassleberry gives Syrus a "fear is the enemy" speech, then asks what scares him. We then see Syrus outside, remembering that he got Power Bond from his brother when they were kids. If he didn't have the PB, he'd be nothing. (Obviously, since he runs a Machine deck) The next day, Syrus hands a card in an envelope and orders not to tell anyone (Chazz fails this). At the duel arena, Missy says she wasn't expecting someone like him. Alexis briefly continues her rant about Missy's looks.

She starts off with Prickle Fairy (2000) in Defense Mode, whose effect protects Insect monsters. (The real card only protects monsters from being attacked, they can still be targeted/destroyed by effects.) Syrus starts with Shield Crush, destroying PF, then summons Steamroid (1800) in Attack Mode and attacks directly, leaving Missy with 2200. Missy plays Pinch Hopper (1000) in Attack Mode. Syrus isn't scared, saying that he lives in a roach-infested dorm. Missy says her next move bugs people out and plays Multiplication of Ants, sending PH to the Grave for 2 Army Ant Tokens (500 x2) in Attack Mode. Syrus still isn't impressed but Missy says she was using MoA to bring out Insect Princess (1900) in Attack Mode (it's actually Pinch Hopper's effect that brings out IP as MuA tokens can't be used for a Tribute Summon unless that's what she means here). Syrus says that his deck has no Insect-Type monsters but Missy says that's about to change and plays Insect Garden, changing all non-Insect monsters to Insect monsters and allows her to give Insect monsters she controls to Syrus. The ant tokens go to Syrus' field. Missy equips Insect Pheromone to her Princess and attacks, destroying the Ant Token and leaving Syrus with 2600. IP's effect gives her 500 ATK for destroying an Insect-Type monster, raising her ATK to 2400.  Then, IP forces the other token to attack IP, destroying itself, putting Syrus' score to 700 and raising IP's ATK to 2900.

Syrus asks if she's done but Hassleberry shouts that he'll never defeat the enemy if he doesn't defeat his fear. Syrus realizes that whenever things get tough he starts doubting himself. He switches Steamroid to Defense Mode. Then he plays Submarineroid (800) in Attack Mode. Missy says that it's not going to touch her princess but Syrus says it's going for her LPs and attack directly, leaving Missy with 1400. Then with its special ability, it goes to Defense Mode. Jaden says what Syrus really needs is to play Power Bond but Chazz replies he can't it's not in his deck and hands Jaden the envelope.  Everyone accuses Chazz of stealing the card but Chazz says Syrus gave it to him to give to Jaden. Why? Syrus sets 1 card to end his turn.

Missy says she must win to meet Zane and plays Magical Longicorn (600) in Attack Mode and gives it to Syrus. Next she attacks it with IP but Syrus activates No Entry!!, switching all monsters Missy controls to Defense Mode and forcing her to discard her last card. (The real card doesn't require the opponent to discard anything.) Missy's not impressed. She says that people don't win duels by luck, then says that perhaps luck is all Syrus has. Syrus asks what she said means. Missy tells him that he won't be as good as Zane. Syrus plays Vehicroid Connection Zone but Missy says that her Longicorn negates and destroys Spell Cards. Syrus tells her that VCZ can't be destroyed by monster effects. (The real card makes it so that the Fusion Monster can't be destroyed by card effects, nor can its effect be negated.) He sends his 2 monsters on the field plus the Drillroid in his hand to his Grave for Super-Vehicroid Jumbo Drill (3000) in Attack Mode and attacks, destroying IP and winning the duel by SVJD's effect. Poor Missy complains of not seeing her "sweet Zane". Crowler announces Syrus the winner. Back at the dorm, the gang talks about Syrus' moving to Ra Yellow. Syrus gives a speech about how he doesn't need PB to be as good as his brother and asks Jaden to keep it but Jaden says it belongs with Syrus, if not in his deck, as a souvenir for how brave he is. Later, Syrus barks at Hassleberry for stealing his seat. He thought Syrus moved out. Syrus says they can't get rid of him that easily. Since when did he become so tough? Since he took Hassleberry's advice! Chazz complains of losing his appetite and Jaden gladly decides to have Chazz's dinner but Chazz isn't willing to give it up just yet. He, Syrus and Hassleberry quarrel and Chazz then says he just wants out.
