Episode 29: Doomsday Duel (1)

Inside his office, Sheppard watches the storm, saying the war begins. A mysterious bird-like thing flies by and lands, revealing a dark figure, whom holds the other half of the medallion. The medallion glows. Meanwhile, Jaden's half of the medallion also glows and Syrus cannot figure out how Jaden can sleep through a thunderstorm but Chumley says to worry about the one who can't. The next day, Jaden starts to dine on his lunch when Banner says that Sheppard wants a word with him. Maybe it's good, like an award but Chazz says it's never good with Sheppard. (Why isn't he sitting in the Slifer Red area when he was placed there after leaving?) Banner adds that Sheppard wants to see Bastion, Alexis and Chazz. Inside the hallway, Jaden adds that Banner doesn't need to escort them to Sheppard's office but Banner insists that he does as Sheppard wants to see him as well. They are confronted by Crowler and Zane and enter the office where Sheppard tells them about the Sacred Beast cards. Jaden suggests they take the cards out for a spin. Hasn't he been listening? How are they supposed to guard the cards? Sheppard explains that the seven gates need seven keys to unlock them and Sheppard has one for each of them. All of them take the keys and Jaden tells the story to his roommates, then decides to sleep.

Outside, Alexis ponders about what Sheppard said and decides she must warn Jaden. Meanwhile, the figure also shows, with red-eyes glowing. Elsewhere, Jaden sleeps when a very bright light enters the room, Winged Kuriboh tries to wake him up and at first, Jaden refuses but after seeing bright light, he changes his mind and tries to wake Syrus and Chumley but to no avail. Alexis sees the light and races into their dorm but a laughter is heard and the figure says the first duel is happening. The two of them appear on a thin floor surrounded by molten lava/fire. A fiery snake-like thing surfaces then forms the figure, whom wants to be called Nightshroud. He's the one who will be taking the key around Jaden's neck and to be sure of it, he invites Syrus and Chumley, whom are trapped in a sphere. (How did he know who they were?)

Of course, Jaden accepts the duel and Nightshroud begins with Troop Dragon (800) in Defense Mode and 1 card face down to end his turn. Jaden plays Elemental Hero Wildheart (1500) in Attack Mode and attacks TD, destroying it. Nightshroud forgot to mention that when TD is destroyed, he can play another one and he does. Next, he plays his face down card, Call of the Haunted to revive his Troop Dragon from the Graveyard. Call has once again been redesigned for US as shown at 13:24 into the episode.

Next he tributes his monsters for Red-Eyes Black Dragon (2400) in Attack Mode. (The real card's name is Red-Eyes B. Dragon.) Inside the sphere, the walls are still intact...or are they as Chumley's hand slips through. Nightshroud attacks and destroys Wildheart, dropping Jaden's score to 3100. Jaden plays Polymerization for Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster (2500) in Defense Mode and interestingly enough, both versions of the episode show the ATK and DEF together instead of one of the two as it has been in past episodes. Also note the card art change of RB's card art for US at 15:22 into the episode (although it's pretty difficult to see.)

With her effect, she can attack directly by halving her ATK and does so, dropping Nightshroud's score to 3000. Nightshroud draws and smiles, saying that RB cannot protect him from Red-Eyes' attack since his attack is an actual card, Inferno Fire Blast, which deals him damage equal to Red-Eyes' ATK, reducing his score to 700. Next he plays Attachment Dragon (100) in Attack Mode and with its effect, it forces the monster it equips with to Attack Mode. Jaden draws, thinking that by the looks of the orb, it may be his last!
