A fleet of aircraft carriers and helicopters race towards Duel Academy. Duel Academy's finally getting their new rare cards! Meanwhile, at the Slifer Red Dorm, while Jaden's sleeping, Syrus, with 3 Monster Reborn cards on his head is praying that he faces his exam today. He wants to get into Ra Yellow. Jaden's alarm clock goes off but Jaden sleeps right through it. Syrus orders Jaden to wake up. If Jaden misses this exam he cannot advance to the next dorm! In his sleep, Jaden's apparently dreaming about dueling and says he plays a Trap. Syrus jumps back. Why can't Jaden be dreaming in Defense Mode when Syrus wakes him up? Chumley tells him it'd be better for the both of them if Jaden sleeps right through it and says that after the written test is their field test and he doesn't want to go up against the guy who beat Dr. Crowler. Syrus races off and tells Jaden he'll save him a seat.

Later, Jaden races out, saying that Chumley sure can cook and passes a woman pushing a van. He stops and tries to assist her. She says she'll remember this day. Jaden tells her she should remember next time to bring the insurance. He arrives at the exam, telling Syrus he wasn't aware that it was an oral exam. Chazz yells at him to keep it down, saying that some of us plan on passing the exam. Jaden tells him that he always planned on passing it just doesn't work out that way. Banner chimes in and asks Jaden to come down and get his exam. Alexis hopes Jaden finishes. Elsewhere, Crowler says that while Jaden can dream of dueling in his written exam, his field test will be a nightmare! Banner says the test is over and tells everyone to get in line for the new rare cards yet everyone races out the door. Chazz's friends tell Chazz that the new cards have arrived but Chazz isn't interested. Bastion says that Jaden and Syrus had better get some serious thought to waking up. Syrus jumps up disappointed, thinking he flunked the exam.

Jaden lifts his head and adds if there was an exam on melodrama Syrus would get an 'A'" then puts his head down. "Where'd everyone go?" Syrus asks. Bastion says that that's what he wanted to tell them, the new rare cards were here. Syrus asks Bastion why he isn't getting one and Bastion explains that one new card would throw his entire deck off. He and Jaden race off. Back outside, duelists bang angrily on the door to the store. Army vehicles arrive and the captain of the aircraft carrier brings in a suitcase with the cards but when the suitcase opens, there aren't any left. A man in a robe reveals that he got all of them. Syrus and Jaden race over. They couldn't have....run out of cards already?! Jaden asks the clerk if there are any cards left. The clerk tells her that they have cards left and puts a pack on the counter. They said some not one!

Jaden offers Syrus the last pack after Syrus says he's going to flunk his field test because he couldn't upgrade his deck. The woman with the van trouble walks in. Jaden asks the woman if she works there too but she tells him she owns here. "You know her?" Syrus asks. The woman tells them she has something for them, telling them that it's a thank you for helping her. Meanwhile, Chazz and his friends are in the Obelisk Blue dueling arena talking about how some "robed man" stole every last card. They apologize to Chazz but Chazz tells them that they're the ones who are sorry but it doesn't matter, no one can defeat him no matter what rare cards are in their deck...except for that kid Jaden Yuki that is. The robed man appears again. He shows them the cards he bought all lined up in his coat, which Fusion Weapon (top left) gets a redesign for US at 8:10 into the episode.

 and reveals himself to be Crowler. Crowler instructs Chazz to use the rare cards to beat Jaden. However, Chazz and Jaden aren't in the same dorm, they can't duel each other. Crowler says he'll arrange it so that it does. When Jaden awakens, he's shocked to find that he's dueling Chazz. "What an honor," Crowler says. Bastion says that it must be a trap and only a fool would agree to it, yet Jaden does. Everyone's going to watch Jaden get slammed by Chazz. Jaden draws. It's his furry friend Winged Kuriboh! He plays Elemental Hero Clayman (2000) in Defense Mode, who as usual gets a picture redesign as shown at 10: 12 into the episode, although  its hard to see.

    Chazz draws and it's a rare card. He activates Magical Mallet, letting him return cards he doesn't want back into his deck, then he shuffles and redraws. He got to shuffle Magical Mallet too (the real card doesn't allow you to shuffle a card on the field) Since he drew it again he can play it once more and does. Oops! At 10:36 into the US episode, Clayman's been given given an orange background, although it's hard to see.

He then plays V-Tiger Jet (1600) in Attack Mode. Then he plays Frontline Base, letting him play another Monster so he summons W-Wing Catapult (1300) in Attack Mode and combines them for VW-Tiger Catapult (2000) in Attack Mode. He's not done for his Monster has a special ability. Is his turn going to ends some time this century? His Monster's effect allows it to change a Monster's mode to Attack Mode by discarding 1 card from his hand and he chooses Clayman. He attacks Clayman with VW-Tiger Catapult, destroying it and bring Jaden down to 2800. Crowler says that perhaps Jaden isn't as good as everyone thinks. Chazz finishes up with 1 card. Jaden tells Chazz to go ahead and finish up because he's just getting warmed up! He draws and plays Elemental Hero Sparkman (1400) in Defense Mode. Then he sets 1 card and ends his turn. Chazz draws and asks Jaden if he's ready. He plays X-Head Cannon (1800) and Z-Metal Tank (1500) in Attack Mode, then uses Call of the Haunted to bring back his Y-Dragon Head (1500) in Attack Mode, the card he discarded using VW-Tiger Catapult's effect. Next he combines X, Y, and Z to summon XYZ-Dragon Cannon (2800) in Attack Mode. (The real card removes the monsters from play to be summoned.) He tells Jaden there's still more, or actually less, for he disagrees with the saying 'two heads are better than one' and combines his two Monsters for VWXYZ-Dragon Catapult Cannon (3000) in Attack Mode. (The real card removes from play the monsters to be summoned.) Sparkman disappears. Didn't Chazz mention? V-Z has a special ability, allowing him to remove one card on Jaden's field once per turn.

He attacks but Jaden activates A Hero Emerges, forcing Chazz to randomly pick a card in Jaden's hand and if it's a Monster, Jaden gets to summon it. Chazz picks the far right so Jaden summons Elemental Hero Burstinatrix (800) in Defense Mode, or so he thinks for when his Catapult Cannon attacks, he gets to choose the Monster's mode and he chooses Attack Mode and attacks, putting Burstinatrix to Attack Mode, destroying her and reducing Jaden's LPs to 1000. Chazz asks Jaden if he's having test anxiety but Jaden says no and draws, it's one of the cards Jaden pulled in the pack. Jaden flashes back to earlier that day and the woman tells him that she knows that she said that they were out of cards but she hid a few packs away for good students like Jaden and hopes Jaden can put them to good use. Jaden summons Winged Kuriboh (200) in Defense Mode and the crowd squeals in delight at the appearance of him. Jaden sets one card as well and ends his turn. Alexis hopes that Jaden knows what he's doing. Chazz is glad that Jaden's done for he's going to cook that little fur ball and he likes his well done. Jaden says Chazz doesn't scare him.

Chazz responds that it's his Monster's job for that and attacks with Catapult Cannon but Jaden discards 2 cards and activates Transcendent Wings! Crowler asks where Jaden got it. Jaden explains that Transcendent Wings has evolved his Winged Kuriboh into Winged Kuriboh LV10 and by tributing himself, he destroys all Monsters in Attack Mode and their ATK is dealt to the opponent's LPs. Catapult Cannon is destroyed and Chazz's LPs drop to 1000. Chazz tells Jaden he was lucky. Jaden tells him he just has a soft spot for old ladies and says that with only 1000 LPs remaining and his turn coming up, all he needs is the right Monster and Chazz will be finished. He draws and it's Elemental Hero Avian, which he summons in Attack Mode. He attacks and wipes out the rest of Chazz's LPs. "Impossible!" Crowler exclaims. With all the rare cards Chazz had it couldn't be! Sheppard questions him about the rare cards. Crowler says it's nothing and walks off. The crowd cheers and Sheppard congratulates him, saying that never in the history has a Slifer Red dueled an Obelisk. He promotes Jaden to Ra Yellow. Bastion says to allow him to be the first to welcome Jaden to Ra Yellow. Back at the dorm, Chumley and Syrus are discussing about having a sign to have someone else be their roommate except Chazz. Syrus doesn't like the idea so Chumley says that if Syrus won't help them he should do something productive like make him a grilled cheese. Jaden bursts in and Syrus asks him why he's here. Jaden tells him it's just not his home without Syrus. Syrus races over with tears of joy in his eyes and hugs Jaden. Jaden's not happy with it and tries to push Syrus away yet Syrus asks him to give him a few more hugs but Jaden tells him it's not the hugs its the waterworks!
