Episode 178: A Duel with Dartz (2)

As the gang view the city of Atlantis 10 millennia ago, Dartz tells what happened during that time. Yami can't understand the relationship between Ironheart and Dartz but Kaiba wants the story to end. We find Ironheart, Chris and Sky encountering the Orichalcos Soldiers and choosing to race off and summon the Legendary Dragons to take part in the battle of Atlantis. As a result, Atlantis sank to the ocean depths with neither side victorious. Kaiba protests that Dartz should've lost thanks to their Master of Dragon Soldier but Dartz states that isn't true and the duel is brought back to the "Soul Room" as Dartz adds that his Orichalcos Kyutora absorbed all the damage. Dartz brings back Orichalcos Gigas now with 1400 ATK in Attack Mode and doesn't need anymore cards anyway. He adds to the Seal of Orichalcos with Orichalcos Deuteros and while the duo experience its power, a plane flies to the island and Raphael takes the ride down to the ground via motorcycle and rides up the spiral.

Dartz explains that thanks to Deuteros' effect, he gains 500 LPs for each of his monsters, raising his score by 1000 to 4500. His attack with OG destroys itself but it returns with 1900 ATK and Tristan concludes that Dartz is doing it to make Gigas stronger but Yami mentally adds that there must be more to it as Gigas would have to come back 7 more times and concludes that Kyutora must have another effect. Kaiba draws and sets 1 card before playing his Blade Knight (1600) in Attack Mode, gaining 400 ATK since Kaiba has only 1 card in his hand (well I think you don't have any but the effect still works anyway), putting its ATK at 2000.

Yami knows Kaiba is up to something and draws before Kaiba activates Reflect Energy by tributing his Blade Knight. It will let Yami attack directly with MoDS and theoretically win the duel. Yami performs the procedure but Gigas is destroyed instead as Dartz explains that due to Deutoros' other effect, since he was to take direct damage, he sacrifices a monster to make Yami's monster attack itself. However, Yami activates De-Fusion from his hand to convert MoDS to Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon (4500) and Black Luster Soldier (3000) in Attack Mode.

Dartz is about to make his move that has nothing to do with teamwork or friendship and activates Orichalcos Mirror to discard Timeater and summon Mirror Knight Calling (0000) in his back row in Attack Mode (and I note that at 16:33 into the US episode, it maintains the formatting other Orichalcos cards have but the text box is the wrong color), gaining 500 ATK from the Seal for a total of 500 ATK. As a bonus, MKC Special Summons 4 Mirror Knight Tokens. Furthermore, OD gives him 300 more LPs to bring his score up to 7500. Two of the nights focus on Yami and Kaiba respectively while the other two focus on their monsters, giving them 500, 500, 3000 and 4500 respectively. Their attacks destroy Yami and Kaibas' monsters and leave them down to 3500 LPs each and the knights sacrifice their shields to remain on the field and MKC lets them regain their shields each time they attack.

Kaiba draws and uses Card of Demise to draw 5 cards and must discard all cards in his hand after 5 turns. (At 18:04 into the US episode, Silent Doom has different artwork that changes when he plays it a few seconds later.) Then he uses Silent Doom to bring back Blade Knight in Defense Mode. (The real card only Special Summons Normal Monsters from the Graveyard.) Then he tributes it for Kaiser Glider (2400) in Attack Mode. He sets 1 card to end his turn and even Dartz is impressed. Yami knows they need to destroy the monsters not hide behind them and draws Mirror Force before summoning Big Shield Gardna (2600) in Defense Mode and setting 1 card to end his turn.

Dartz draws and gains another 3000 LPs to bring his score up to 10,500 before Kaiba activates Ring of Destruction to destroy MKC (which is a Monster Card not a Spell Card as he says from 19:23 to 19:27 into the US episode), leaving his score down to 3000 and Dartz's score down to 10,000.

In a new twist, the Mirror Knight Tokens' helmets fracture and fall off, revealing familiar faces. They can't defeat Dartz without destroying the knights. If they attack the knights, those people are gone forever!
