Episode 163: Self Destruction | |
We find the train sitting in a river as Dartz has lost contact with the Pharaoh so Raphael agrees to find him. Meanwhile, Yami awakens after recalling his duel in his dream but is unsure where he is and awakens Tea` in time to have a wolf pounce on her but is gentle like a dog and licks her face, then Yami's face. We learn her name is Sky and a little girl named Chris explains that Sky found the two of them. They are brought outside to see the bearded man looking through Yami's deck and being puzzled at the Eye of Timaeus card. He introduces himself as Ironheart and hands Yami his deck back, relieved to see Yami's strength has returned. However, Yami feels he doesn't deserve to keep the Eye of Timaeus card and hands it to Ironheart, whom agrees to hold onto it until Yami is ready. Nevertheless, in all his travels, he's never seen anyone like Yami and didn't find anyone else near the crash site and learns of Yami's trouble without Yugi. Ironheart might be able to help and orders the duo to follow him. Along the way, the route is treacherous as Tea` nearly loses her footing as rocks tumble away. Ironheart says their destination is a place where the spirits dwell and Yugi might be there but so will the evil spirits. Meanwhile, Raphael arrives at the crash site and wonders how he could've escaped but is determined to find him. They arrive and Yami is to enter alone as anyone else will be detected by the spirits. As Yami proceeds, a storm gathers and so do all the evil spirits, which start swirling around him. The spirits combine and Yugi's spirit appears and Yugi is surprised that Yami came just to see him. Both share apologies before Yami adds that he maybe thinking that Raphael's words were true. Yugi decides that there's only one way to settle things and orders Yami to duel him. Yami reluctantly agrees and Yugi sets a monster to end his turn. Yami draws and summons Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts (1500) in Attack Mode and attacks, destroying Yugi's own face down Gazelle (1200) in Defense Mode and both Yami and Ironheart conclude that their hands are identical. Yugi isn't so convinced and sets another monster so Yami uses Polymerization to bring out Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast (2100) in Attack Mode (and at 12:48 into the US episode, they've switched the ordering of Polymerization and Berfomet as well as given Polymerization the other artwork). Then he plays Alpha The Magnet Warrior (1400) in Attack Mode and attacks, destroying Yugi's face down Sangan (600) in Defense Mode, then dealing Yugi 2100 damage from Chimera's attack, leaving Yugi down to 1900 LPs. Since Sangan was destroyed, Yugi moves Alpha The Magnet Warrior in his Deck to his hand. (In the CG, this would've been known as missing the timing as Sangan's effect must be resolved the moment it goes to the Graveyard.) Yugi draws, then sets 1 card and uses Card Destruction to force both players to send all cards in their hands to the Graveyard and draw an equal amount of cards from their decks and keep Yami from cheating anymore. (How is it cheating just because you two had the same hands? It's just a coincidence, especially given that this is the only time it's ever happened.) Next Yugi plays the one card that will make Yami see the darkness, the Seal of Orichalcos (Where did he get a copy of the card? He couldn't have taken it from Yami's deck because Yami wasn't anywhere near him after their duel and he certainly wouldn't have found Dartz's lair on his own, nor would he want to.). He angrily demands Yami to replace his hand by Card Destruction's effect, then uses his face down Monster Reborn to bring back his discarded-by-Card-Destruction Dark Magician Girl (2000) in Attack Mode. Next he summons Obnoxious Celtic Guardian (" ") (1400) in Attack Mode and both get the 500 ATK boost to 2500 and 1900 respectively (which is automatically included on all of Yugi's Summoned monsters in Attack Position). His attacks destroy Yami's monsters and leave Yami down to 3100 but this triggers Chimera's effect to let Yami bring back Berfomet (1800) in Defense Mode. For his turn, Yami draws and summons Big Shield Gardna (an Effect Monster in the CG) (2600) in Defense Mode. Yugi summons Queen's Knight (2000) in Attack Mode, then equips DMG with Magic Formula, raising her ATK by 500 to 3000. (It raises the equipped monster's ATK by 700 in the CG and must be equipped to either DMG or DM.) Yugi's attacks leave Yami defenseless and down to 1200 LPs. Yami sets 1 card and plays Giant Soldier of Stone (2000) in Defense Mode. He finishes his turn by activating Swords of Revealing Light, which doesn't phase Yugi at all. Yugi tributes OCG for Catapult Turtle (1500) in Attack Mode and as Yugi applies its effect by tributing QK, he utters Yami's exact words and leaves Yami down to just 200 LPs. Yugi ignores Yami's pleas and tributes DMG for CT's effect but Yami activates Divine Wind to negate the effect damage and inflict twice the amount to Yugi, winning the duel. Yami runs to Yugi's side and learns it was Yugi's plan all along and was able to defeat the darkness within his heart. Yugi dissipates, telling Yami to stay strong and that he's always with him. Yami will find Yugi no matter what it takes! |
