Episode 94: A Duel with Destiny (2)

Still dueling, Both duelists have no doubt of what they think or say. As Ishizu's Millennium Necklace predicted, Kaiba activates his face down Virus Cannon to get rid of 10 Spell Cards in Ishizu's deck. (The real card does get rid of Spell Cards but it's for every tribute you make by the card's effect and the Spell Cards lost are up to your opponent.) However, Kaiba has played right into Ishizu's hands as she activates Exchange of the Spirit, which for 1000 of her LPs swaps the cards of each players' decks with the cards in their Graveyard, dropping Ishizu's score down to 1400, leaving Kaiba with a mere 6 card deck and Ishizu with everything she lost from Kaiba's card effects and the Spell Card from the turn before. Down below, Mokuba is close to completing the translation when a noise (the one used for displaying Life Points and a monsters' ATK and/or DEF) makes him realize Kaiba is in trouble and he darts off.

Dark Marik sees that Ishizu is stringing Kaiba along the same way she strung him along as a child. Ishizu draws and plays Kelbek (1500) in Attack Mode. (The real card is an Effect Monster that returns the monster it battles with to the hand after damage calculation.) She then sets 1 card to end her turn. This is Kaiba's tournament! If he loses, he'll be humiliated! Mokuba arrives from down below and wants to know what's going on but is told not to worry. Kaiba then draws and (illegally) activates Virus Cannon but Ishizu counters with  Muko, which sends the card to the Graveyard. (The real card's name is Null and Void and once both players see the card(s) drawn, they're put right into the Graveyard.) With that, Kaiba ends his turn, as Yami explains that Kaiba may be wanting to use Ishizu's monsters as tributes for Obelisk's summoning.

Ishizu summons Zorga (Zolga in the CG) (1700) in Attack Mode (and I'll note it's a Normal Monster here when earlier we saw it as an Effect Monster in the previous episode). Her attacks destroy Kaiba's Dark Gremlin/Des Feral Imp and leave Kaiba down to 1350. She also sets 1 card to end her turn. Kaiba draws but Ishizu activates another Muko to send Kaiba's card straight to the Graveyard. Mokuba convinces Kaiba that he must summon Obelisk the Tormentor (and at 9:05 into the US episode, you can see Kelbek and Sacrifices Blast in Kaiba's hand, which are both Ishizu cards). Ishizu sets 1 card before playing Agido (1500) in Attack Mode. (Much like Zorga, Agido is an Effect Monster that lets you Special Summon a Fairy-Type monster from your Grave whose Level equals the die result or a Level 6+ monster if you roll a 6.)

Ishizu mentally states that her face down card has already begun working and is inside Zorga and will transfter to Obelisk. Kaiba ponders whether using Soul Exchange would walk right into Ishizu's hands before making up his mind and using his face down Soul Exchange to tribute Ishizu's monsters for Obelisk the Tormentor (4000) in Attack Mode. (The real Soul Exchange can't be activated during the opponent's turn and also prevents you from conducting your Battle Phase.) Ishizu thinks Kaiba is mistaken, having already secretly activated her Trap Card Sacrifices Blast (Blast Held by a Tribute in the CG and activating a Trap Card is never a secret to anyone) that'll self-destruct once Kaiba attacks. Dark Mark decides to leave, figuring the duel will end soon but he discovers his Millennium Rod activating by itself just as Kaiba declares an attack.

Visions of the stone tablet tell Kaiba that he should bring out his Blue-Eyes. Even Ishizu is shocked when Kaiba uses Silent Doom to bring back Gadget Solder (2000) in Defense Mode. Next, in a move surprising everyone watching, Kaiba tributes his monsters for Blue-Eyes White Dragon (3000) in Attack Mode. His attack wins him the duel. Ishizu has learned a valuable lesson and knows Kaiba will help her save her brother. Kaiba declines, saying he's only in this tournament for himself and advises Yami to prepare for their duel as Yami will need all the luck he can get. When the time is right, Kaiba will accept destiny's role for him and both her brother and the world will be saved.
