Episode 67: Mime Control (3)

At the duel, Kaiba continues urging Yami to take down Slifer if he has what it takes. Yami assures Kaiba he will, telling Strings/Marik it's over but S/M protests that his God Card is unstoppable and that Kaiba is next. Kaiba isn't afraid of his threat but is told he will in time. Yami has no idea how to take down Slifer when all of his monsters in his hand are well below its 10K ATK strength. His draw adds Monster Reborn to his hand, which he sets face down before playing Big Shield Gardna (2600) in Defense Mode (The real Big Shield Gardna is an Effect Monster.) Since it's a new monster, Slifer drains it of 2000 DEF to leave it with just 600. Yami better last long enough for Kaiba to defeat it later and add it to his collection.

After some taunting, S/M draws, raising his God Card's ATK to 11K. Mokuba and Kaiba discuss the situation until Kaiba figures out its weakness relying on the number of cards in S/M's deck. He waits to see if Yami can figure it out himself. S/M attacks and takes out BSG, telling Yami it's his last turn. Yami draws and gets what he needs but Kaiba thinks it's only half the battle. Yami activates his face down Monster Reborn card to bring back his Buster Blader in Attack Mode, a thoughtless move by S/M's standards, given that his God Card will destroy BB and win the duel. Not only that, but BB loses 2000 ATK to leave it down to 1100 and S/M draws another three cards to give his Slifer 14K ATK.

Next, Yami attacks with BB but as before, Revival Jam blocks the attack and S/M draws another three cards. Oops again! S/M's Slifer and Revival Jam cards weren't edited at 9:10 into the US episode! S/M still sees victory in sight but Yami isn't done as he activates Brain Control. S/M protests that Slifer isn't affected by Spell Cards but Yami's target with Brain Control is Revival Jam, causing S/M to draw another three cards. Oops once more! At 13:04 into the US episode, S/M's Slifer card is The Winged Dragon of Ra instead! They've also didn't take into account of Slifer's additional 3K ATK boost from when Yami attacked Revival Jam with Buster Blader because it should have 20K and instead has only 17K.

S/M becomes trapped in a never-ending cycle and will lose once he runs out of cards. When it's finally over, Mokuba runs down to talk some sense into the now lifeless Strings before handing over Slifer and Strings' Locator Card to Yami. However, after he gets a congratulations from Kaiba, he's challenged to a duel but Marik regains control of Strings, stating that he's headed to Battle City and always looks for new Rare Hunter members, asking Yami which one of his friends would make a good Rare Hunter. Yami is in no mood to play games and warns about any harm dealt to his friends. Once Strings' control is released, Yami darts off, saying their duel must wait. Kaiba protests that it's against tournament rules to run from a challenge (well then you broke that rule when Joey challenged you, Kaiba). As Marik arrives in Battle City and rides through town, Yami continues searching. Once Marik has the Millennium Puzzle, he'll be pharaoh and the world will cower at his feet!
