Episode 60: The Master of Magicians (1)

Somewhere in Battle City, a duelist isn't satisfied with his winnings of one rare card and demands two. Mokuba calls him out but the bully isn't fearful until Kaiba arrives, challenging the bully to a duel, provided he uses the cards in his own briefcase (not that they'll help unless there are more underneath). Confident that he'll win, the bully draws but Kaiba smirks, saying he just needs to play a single card to teach a lesson and plays Obelisk the Tormentor (4000) in Attack Mode and attacks to win the duel (apparently skipping turns because it WAS the bully's turn after all). The duo head off, leaving the bully trembling on the ground, hoping to find Yugi to use his God Card on.

Meanwhile, Marik is informed by one of his associates of Obelisk's new owner Seto Kaiba but it doesn't surprise him because Ishizu has been trying to stand in his way ever since he decided to take what should've been his, remembering the time he was caught after taking The Winged Dragon of Ra card. Instead of having his Rare Hunters pay Kaiba a visit, Marik orders them to send Arkana to take down Yugi Muto. In the hospital, Tristan is about to head out and see how Yugi and Joey are doing when Serenity wants him to promise to take him to Battle City the day her bandages can be removed. He willingly agrees. Elsewhere, Joey, Tea` and Solomon briefly discuss Joey's recent victory over Espa Roba before splitting up and Yami discusses with Yugi about Joey and now holding his Red-Eyes (which should have little impact on any duel, given its horrible stats).

A harlequin appears, stating that his master and himself have been looking for Yami and urges him inside a tent. Tea` and Solomon catch Yami as he walks and follow. Once inside, they watch in horror as Yami disappears into a Mystic Box. His disappearance doesn't go unnoticed as Mokuba informs Kaiba of the situation and is told to check the satellite link. Kaiba figures Yami's signal is just being blocked and is determined to find him. In another room of the tent, Yami comes out of the Mystic Box there and finds a computer showing his Battle City profile, apparently having hacked into it and his Dark Magician appears in holographic form but with a different color scheme and facial expression but Yami isn't falling for it and is introduced to Arkana, whom appears from the shadows, having summoned his own Dark Magician (with the artwork we still don't and likely will never have). He challenges Yami to a duel and Yami accepts, sharing his knowledge on card choosing before being escorted to a larger dueling ring.

Once inside, the duel gets setup and Yami discovers Dark Energy Disks, designed to send the player touching them to the Shadow Realm and a key box displaying their opponent's Life Points (well that has a flaw if the player runs Life Point Gain because I'm sure the highest the boxes could reach is 9999). The duel is finally ready to begin and as Arkana planned, his Dark Magician is in his opening hand, having trimmed the edges of his Dark Magician cards. Yami begins the duel by setting 1 card and playing Alpha The Magnet Warrior (1700) in Defense Mode. Arkana opens his turn with Legion the Fiend Jester (1500) in Defense Mode, already planning to tribute it later for his Dark Magician. Oops! At 17:52 into the US episode, barely visible between the separator for his face to his hand and his Dark Magician card is a copy of The Winged Dragon of Ra card!

Yami thinks he'll have to think like a trickster to win and activates Card Destruction, forcing both players to discard all cards in their hand and redraw the same amount and Arkana isn't happy about it. Oops again! As Arkana looks at his hand in disgust, we can see several cards he clearly doesn't have at 18:28 into the US episode! Next, he uses his face down Brain Control card (which costs 800 LPs to activate in the CG) to take LtFJ and tributes it for his Dark Magician (2500) in Attack Mode. His direct attack leaves Arkana down to 1500 LPs but he has no idea of the tricks up Arkana's sleeve! It was just the opening act and soon Yami's mind will be trapped in the Shadow Realm forever!
