Episode 97: Sinister Shadows
At the duel, Vector taunts Yuma some more before Yuma's friends wonder why they weren't informed that Ray was a Barian sooner but Tori figures Yuma had a good reason for it. With that, Yuma sets 1 card to end his turn, taking 500 damage by Sargasso the D.D. Battlefield's effect, bringing him down to 1100 LPs. Yuma continues to sink deeper into anger and now Astral seems to be slowly being infected by dark matter. Regardless, Vector resumes the duel by drawing and activating Glorious Numbers to Special Summon Number 104: Masquerade (2700) in Attack Mode from his Graveyard, then draw 1 card since he controls no monsters. Next he uses Masquerade's effect to send the top card of Yuma's Deck to the Graveyard but prevent Masquerade from attacking that turn. (The real card can attack the turn its effect is used.)
Vector enjoys Yuma's facial expression and sets 1 card to end his turn so Dumon draws and uses Star Seraph Sentry's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself, negate the effects of Shark's Number 32: Shark Drake and halve Shark Drake's ATK to 1400. His attack takes out Shark Drake to leave Shark down to 1900 LPs. Worse still, Mizar takes out Kite's Starliege Galaxion to leave Kite down to 2000 LPs. Shark draws and activates Shark Splash to revive Number 32: Shark Drake (2800) in Attack Mode with 1000 less ATK and deal Dumon damage equal to its current ATK, bringing its ATK down to 1800 and Dumon down to 2200 LPs. However, since Shark Summoned an Xyz Monster, he takes 500 damage, bringing him down to 1400 LPs.
Bronk is worried but Rio assures it's all part of Shark's strategy as he uses Shark Drake as Xyz Material for Chaos Number 32: Shark Drake Veiss (Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss in the CG) (2800) in Attack Mode, bringing him down to 900 LPs by Sargasso's effect as Veiss is destroyed if its owner has more than 1000 LPs. (The real card isn't.) Dumon applauds Shark's maneuver and wishes for a duel under better conditions but it won't happen and Shark isn't here to chat. Meanwhile, Kite draws and uses Triangle Evolution to treat Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon as 3 Xyz Materials for an Xyz Summon. With that, he uses GEPD as Xyz Material for Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon (4500) in Attack Mode, costing him 500 LPs by Sargasso's effect, bringing him down to 1500 LPs. However, due to TE's other effect, NGEPD loses 1000 ATK, bringing it down to 3500 LPs.
With the stage set, Mizar activates Neutrino Dowsing to detach an Xyz Material from Tachyon Dragon, discard Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force and activate Barian's Force' effect, letting him use Number 107 as Xyz Material for Chaos Number 107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon (Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon in the CG) (4500) in Attack Mode. As a result, he takes 500 damage by Sargasso's effect, bringing him down to 2500 LPs. Worse still, Yuma's friends in the airship are being sucked into the black hole and Vector is willing to help out if Yuma gives Vector all his Number cards. Yuma struggles to decide and won't listen to Astral but Tori chimes in to note how easy the decision is.
Yuma agrees to protect Astral while Tori gets everyone to operate or observe various systems on board. Furthermore, Orbital 7 arrives as ordered by Kite and helps out as he can. Regardless of the airship's stresses, Tori orders for full power and they manage to escape the black hole. Yuma gets teary eyed but Shark keeps him focused as he chose to come here as did Kite. Astral was right all along and Yuma apologizes before they use Zexal to combine. However, midway through, Vector brings up the lies Yuma has told thus far and the other force inside. The spot of doubt has grown and will now consume Astral, forcing the Zexal transformation to abort. As a result, darkness consumes Astral and when it's complete, Astral is quite different. Nevertheless, Astral re-ignites Zexal and Yuma has even taken an evil smile!
