Episode 92: An Imperfect Couple (1)
As a wedding wraps up, Anna Kaboom gets a bouquet with an included Devoted Love Spell Card and is uncertain why it's included in the first place but considers it useless overall. Her (presumably) sister Brooke comes over to note that it may one day be useful (though cards that make your own Life Points 0 are indeed useless). At school, a festival is taking place as Tori and Cathy are waitresses at Monster Cafe when Anna Kaboom makes her own entrance before ridiculing Yuma's Temtempo costume. While Cathy adores Yuma's outfit, Ray enters dressed as Dandylion with news of a Couples Tournament to face Brook Walker and Mayday.
Bringing up that this is Brooke's last duel puts Anna over the edge and she lets Ray know it but can't understand why Brooke would quit dueling when she loves it. As a result, Anna wants to be Yuma's partner but learns that since she's not a student, she cannot be Yuma's partner. Meanwhile, Shark is not happy sitting through one of Rio's plays (can't blame him there because I find just about any romance play to be dull and boring. Bronk gives Shark a scare by dressing up as Gogogo Golem but Shark finds it worse than Rio's acting and get a scolding and thump on the head from Rio. Elsewhere, Lotus Henazoe compliments Caswel's Gagaga Magician costume while Flip has imitated his latest scam that gets the student council president interested. While Flip deals with potential consequences, Yuma and Ray meet in the bathroom to discuss how to deal with potential Barians using the card Ray gave Yuma.
Anna finds Tori's uniform and decides to wear it as she feels it's the only way she'll get the answers she needs. Shark is finding himself in a band playing the Zexal dub theme song with Girag's idol singer. Meanwhile, Yuma eats more than the fill of the average human and doesn't really seem interested in more important matters. However, Anna arrives in Tori's outfit, claiming to be just enrolled at the school and ready to be Yuma's partner. Facing a threatening consequence, Yuma accepts to duel with Anna. An entity appears to Brooke and uses Barian's Force to corrupt her. Tori and Cathy find out and are determined not to let Anna get away with it. Regardless, Yuma and Anna arrive just as things are about to be wrapped up in the tournament and Anna wants answers not excuses.
Duel preparations take place before Mayday draws and plays Iceberg Ocean, a Field Spell that makes the DEF of all Defense Position monsters 0. Next he plays Balloon Party to Special Summon 2 Balloon Tokens (0000 x2) in Attack Mode. Then he tributes the tokens for Indestructible Airship Hindenkraft (2900) in Attack Mode before setting 1 card to end his turn. Yuma draws and plays Gogogo Golem (1800) in Attack Mode, then sets 2 cards to end his turn. Brooke draws and uses Raft Party to Special Summon 2 Raft Tokens (0000 x2) in Attack Mode, then Tributes them for Unsinkable Titanica (2800) in Attack Mode. Due to IAH's effect, since Brooke played a Level 10 monster, Yuma's GG switches to Defense Mode, making its DEF 0 by IO's effect.
Worse still, Brooke uses UT's effect to destroy GG and deal half its ATK to Yuma since its DEF is 0, leaving Yuma down to 3100 LPs. However, Yuma is prepared and activates Puzzle Reborn to revive Gogogo Golem in Attack Mode since it was destroyed by a card effect. With that, Brooke sets 1 card to end her turn. Anna draws and Normal Summons Night Express Knight (3000) in Attack Mode without Tributes, making its ATK 0. Next she plays Southern Stars to make GG a Level 10 monster, then uses it and NEK as Xyz Material for Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max (3000) in Attack Mode.
Then she uses Gustav Max's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and deal Brooke 2000 damage but Mayday is ready and activates Engagement Destiny to halve the damage Brooke takes and take half for himself, bringing both their scores down to 3000. Finally, Anna sets 1 card to end her turn so Mayday draws and uses his and Brooke's monsters as Xyz Material for Skypalace Gangaridai (3400) in Attack Mode. Yuma and Anna stare in shock at the massive monster as Mayday uses SG's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself, destroy Anna's Gustav Max and halve her LPs to 2000.  (The real card only deals 1000 damage.) Worse still, Mayday proceeds to attack Yuma directly but will Yuma be finished? (The real card also cannot attack the turn its effect is used.)
