Episode 79: Doom in Bloom
At school, we find Shark in a hurry only to be stopped by Yuma and friends and orders them to stay quiet. A girl appears and everyone is head over heals over her. It's Rio, Shark's sister, and she scolds him for leaving her behind. However, Yuma and friends great her with kindness and she feels much better, though Bronk shows how much more he is into her. Elsewhere, Girag instructs a woman to get Shark and Yumas' numbers by using Rio's sister as bait and the woman agrees in the name of Barian World. At lunch, Rio explains that she had to get better quickly because Shark wasn't so bright on his own as she stopped him from wearing his pajamas to school. Shark notes that he's seen her diary but Rio gets Shark to retract his previous statement.
However, she doesn't prove to be good with names and mistakes Yuma for Kite, believing that Yuma wins by accident but Yuma protests otherwise and corrects her on his catchphrase. The captain of the soccer team and his group interrupt them to ask Rio to join them and Rio agrees to see each team and weigh how she fits in. That evening, she stays true to her word and beats all the teams in spite of the overwhelming odds of her losing. Not everyone appreciates her but Rio ignores people like that anyway. Shortly after, a trio of girls arrive to invite Rio to meet their club's president. Yuma, his friends and Rio all stop by and we find their leader snipping away at flowers, revealing herself as Lotus Henazoe.
Despite Tori's protest on the flowers, Lotus knows how far to go and ends up putting everyone but Yuma and Astral to sleep. Lotus is impressed that Yuma and Astral didn't fall asleep and decides to duel Yuma for the numbers instead but Rio gets up, having faked falling for the trap in the first place and decides to take Yuma's place in the duel. Once outside, duel preparations get underway before Lotus draws and plays Fire Lily (800) in Attack Mode. Next she plays Zen Garden, a Field Spell that prevents WATER monsters from attacking and lets her play Ferocious Flora (1000) in Attack Mode since she already controls a Plant-Type monster. Furthermore, since she controls 2 Plant-Type monsters, she plays Cosmos (600) in Attack Mode by its effect.
With that done, Lotus uses her monsters as Xyz Material for Battlecrusiser Dianthus (2100) in Attack Mode. Due to ZG's third effect, BD gains 100 ATK times its Rank, giving it 300 ATK to 2400. Worse still, Lotus activates BD's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and deal Rio 300 damage per card in her hand, leaving her down by 1500 to 2500. (The real card only deals 200 damage per card in the opponent's hand.) Finally, she sets 1 card to end her turn so Rio draws and plays Blizzard Falcon (1500) in Attack Mode. Next, she activates Blizzard Jet to give her monster 1500 ATK this turn, raising its ATK to 3000. Lotus ridicules the move as BF can't attack but Rio never planned on attacking and activates BF's effect to deal Lotus 1500 damage since it gained that amount of ATK. (The real card deals 1500 damage regardless of how much ATK it gains.)
With that, Lotus is down by 1500 to bring her score even with Rio's and Rio sets 3 cards to end his turn. Girag arrives just in time to watch Lotus draw and play Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force to use BD as Xyz Material for Chaos Xyz Battleship Cherry Blossom (CXyz Battleship Cherry Blossom in the CG) (2400) in Attack Mode. Due to ZG's effect, BCB gets 100 ATK times its Rank, bringing its ATK up to 2800. Furthermore, Lotus uses BCB's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and deal Rio 400 damage per card on the field, leaving her to take 2800 damage but Rio is ready with Diamond Dust to destroy her BF and take only 2000 damage, leaving her down to 500 LPs. (The real BCB deals 300 damage per card on the field.) Due to DD's effect, Lotus takes 500 damage for each monster destroyed, leaving her down to 2000 LPs.
Angry that Rio survived, Lotus attacks Rio directly but Rio is ready with Ice Chain to Special Summon Aurora Wing (1600) in Defense Mode, which gets taken out in battle. As a result, Rio Special Summons Aurora Wing again in Defense Mode. (The real card Special Summons itself in Attack Position.) Lotus taunts Rio by asking how much longer she'll last, then sets 1 card to end her turn. Rio draws and activates her hidden Monster Reborn to revive Blizzard Falcon in Attack Mode from her Graveyard. It's what Lotus was waiting for as she activates Rose Marker to deal Rio 300 damage since she activated a card, bringing her down to 200 LPs. Rio isn't giving up yet and uses her monsters as Xyz Material for Ice Beast Zerofyne (2000) in Attack Mode.
It still gains 400 ATK by ZG's effect, raising its ATK to 2400. Next, Rio uses Zerofyne's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself and negate the effects of all other face-up cards on the field and lower BCB's ATK by 300 per card negated, leaving it down by 900 to 1900. (The real card gains 300 ATK for each card negated.) Furthermore since ZG's effect is negated, the boost it offered is removed, lowering BCB's ATK to 1500 and IBZ's ATK to 2000. Rio's attack forces Lotus to activate Flower Judgment to send BCB's Xyz Materials to the Graveyard and give it 800 ATK for each one sent, giving it 1600 ATK to 3100. Just when Lotus is confident she'll win, Rio activates Freezing Point to make BCB's ATK 0 since it has no Xyz Materials.
Her attack takes out BCB to win the duel and free Lotus from Barrian World. Girag has no idea when his losing streak will end but hopes no one in Barian World hears about it. Yuma's friends come to but have no idea what happened. Shark stops by to comment on Rio's duel but Rio doesn't need his help. Yuma tries to tell Shark that Rio is tougher than she looks but a cat proves to be too much for Rio to handle and Bronk remains in love all the same.
