Episode 34: Shark Bait
At the duel site where Caswell and Bronk lost, Shark is ready to make Quattro pay for setting him up in getting him disqualified from the nationals. However, Trey intercepts and forces Shark to duel him instead. Quattro doesn't like it but walks away, requesting Shark to make it to the finals, having already obtained five Heart Pieces. Tori and Bronk decide to escort Caswell away and Yuma wants to help but Bronk and Astral convince him to stay and support Shark. After duel preparations take place, Trey draws and plays Sunken Kingdom, a Field Spell that gives all WATER monsters 300 ATK (which'll be included when WATER monsters are played).
While Yuma struggles to realize the water isn't real, Trey summons Chronomaly Mayan Machine (1500) in Attack Mode. Next, he sets 1 card to end his turn. Yuma learns about Mayan artifacts before Shark draws and summons Hammer Shark (2000) in Attack Mode. Due to SK's other effect, Level 4 or lower monsters cannot attack Chronomaly monsters. Nevertheless, Shark uses Falling Current to make HS a Level 3 monster. Since he played a Spell Card, Shark Special Summons Big Jaws (2100) in Attack Mode. (The real card doesn't have this effect.) Since it's not enough, Shark uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Black Ray Lancer (2100) in Attack Mode. His attack takes out CMM to leave Trey down to 3400 LPs.
However, Trey is ready with Stonehenge Methods to Special Summon a Rock-Type Chronomaly monster (from his Deck, though he doesn't say so) like Chronomaly Colossal Head (1600) in Defense Mode. (The real SM Special Summons any Level 4 or lower Chronomaly monster from your Deck.) Shark sets 1 card to end his turn so Trey draws and summons Chronomaly Golden Jet (1300) in Attack Mode. Next he plays Orichalcum Chain, letting him Xyz Summon with one less Xyz Material than needed but if it's destroyed, Shark gains control of the Xyz Monster. Using OC's effect, Trey uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Number 32: Shark Drake (3100) in Attack Mode. His attack takes out BRL to leave Shark down to 3000 LPs.
Next, Trey uses Shark Drake's effect to detach an Xyz Material from itself, Special Summon BRL with 1000 less ATK to 1100 and attack it again. As a result, BRL is destroyed again and Shark is on the ground and down to 1000 LPs. Trey sets 1 card to end his turn and Shark and Astral know that Shark must take Shark Drake. Shark draws and summons Skill Kraken (600) in Attack Mode. Due to SK's effect, Shark destroys OC and gains control of Shark Drake just as Trey wants. Shark refuses to be controlled by the Number card and breaks free. His attack prompts Trey to activate Antikythira Gear to gain control of SK and put it in Defense Mode but Shark is ready with Extreme Pressure Power to destroy his weaker monster and draw 1 card.
Shark's attack continues, leaving Trey on the ground and down to 300 LPs. Finally, Shark sets 2 cards to end his turn. Recalling his mission and the loophole within it, Trey draws and plays Chronomaly Technology to remove from play a Chronomaly monster in his Graveyard to draw 2 cards and send 1 card from his hand to the Graveyard. (The real card forces to look at your Deck's next 2 cards and pick one of them to add to your hand, then send the other one to the Graveyard. Next he plays Chronomal;y Crystal Bones (1300) in Attack Mode since Shark is the only duelist with monsters out. Furthermore, he can now Special Summon Chronomaly Crystal Skull (900) in Attack Mode from the Graveyard (discarded earlier).
With that done, he uses his monsters as Xyz Material for Chronomaly Crystal Chrononaut (2100) in Attack Mode. Due to CCC's effect, Trey detaches an Xyz Material from itself to prevent its destruction in battle and deal Shark the damage he himself would've taken. (The real card already can't be destroyed in battle once per turn and using an Xyz Material also prevents its destruction from card effects in addition to dealing your opponent your own Battle Damage.) However, Shark activates Plate Salvage to negate SK's effects for 2 turns, returning Shark Drake's attack to normal and leaving his score down to 300. Trey isn't about to let Shark just win the duel and sets 1 card to end his turn. Shark draws and attacks but Trey uses CCH's effect from the Graveyard to remove itself from play to put CCC in Defense Mode. As a result, CCC is destroyed in the attack.
Shark didn't forget about Shark Drake's effect and uses it to revive Chronomaly Crystal Chrononaut with 1100 ATK and attack it again but Trey is ready with Chronomaly Ley Line Power to switch the ATK and DEF of the battling monsters, putting Shark Drake at 1100 and CCC at 2800. Regardless, Shark knew this was coming and activates Sea King's Verdict to negate CLLP's effect since it was activated during the Battle Phase. (Trap Jammer has this effect.) Shark's attack continues and takes out CCC to win the duel. In a twist, Trey already made it to the finals but hands over Shark Drake anyway and Yuma learns the good news about Caswell. Shark heads out, warning Yuma to keep his distance because Shark still has a score to settle with Quattro!
