Episode 96: It's All Relative | |
Just outside the White Dorm, Bastion is whining about how his career as a duelist is practically over and Jaden wins his duels on luck. He figures that maybe dueling isn't about logic but a mysterious old man tells him he's wrong. He introduces himself as Eisenstein, whom Bastion has been a fan of since he could hold a duel disk. Eisenstein wouldn't be where he is now without logic. Bastion sees that Eisenstein has disappeared, or so he thinks and figures that he had a vision. Meanwhile, Prince Ojin, is talking with Sartorius about whether or not Eisenstein is on the island and doesn't seem to care when Sartorius corrects him on pronunciation. Ojin says Jaden won't be a match for the most gifted mind. (A gifted mind with a photo of him sticking his tongue out?) Sartorius says their plan to lure Jaden is already taken care of so all they need to do now is wait. At the hospital, Jaden talks with Syrus about his previous match with Zane. Syrus asks where Zane went but Jaden hasn't a clue. Suddenly Crowler's voice crackles over the PA system, saying that Jaden has a pop-quiz to take. However, it's not Crowler speaking, it's Ojin. Hassleberry and a few other Slifer Reds escort Jaden to his quiz as Jaden had thought they were on his side. Eisenstein appears, saying they're going to duel. The two of them have an argument over Jaden's dueling (and I must admit Eisenstein is right about Jaden's deck, it IS just paper and ink). Hassleberry and the group discuss about the possibility of Jaden needing to cheat when Crowler shows up, completely denying that he told Jaden to take a Physics pop-quiz. The group discover that the doors now lead to an empty space (no pun intended). With the duel finally underway, Eisenstein plays Relativity Field and ends his turn. Jaden is surprised that Eisenstein did nothing else. Bastion knows that it's all Eisenstein needs and once its effects activate, Jaden's luck will finally run out. Jaden naturally draws and uses Polymerization to summon out Elemental Hero Flame Wingman (2100) in Attack Mode. Eisenstein activates the effect of his Singularity Fiend, forcing him to discard it and a Spell Card to destroy Jaden's monster. Jaden sets 2 cards to end his turn. Eisenstein plays Schrödinger's Cat, letting him re-shuffle any cards drawn outside the Draw Phase and redraw and he also activates Pot of Greed. Bastion is amazed that Eisenstein converted drawing cards from luck into science. (Though it is still luck since you still won't know what you're going to draw so it could be better or worse than the cards you shuffled back into the deck.) Then he plays 2 cards face down and Laplace, the Fiend Mathematician (1000) in Attack Mode. He attacks but Jaden activates A Hero Emerges, letting him bring out Elemental Hero Neos (2500) in Attack Mode since it's the only card in Jaden's hand. Eisenstein sets 1 card and plays Dimensionhole, removing his Laplace from play until his next Standby Phase. This triggers Laplace's effect, dealing Jaden 300 damage per card on the field for a total of 1800, leaving Jaden with 2200. Next, due to the effect of RF, Neos loses ATK equal to the damage Jaden took, leaving it with 700 ATK. Then he plays Dark Hole to destroy Neos. Finally, he activates Draw Paradox as Jaden starts his turn, forcing both players to switch Draw Phases so Jaden draws in Eisenstein's Draw Phase and vice-versa. Eisenstein gets his monster back, then informs Jaden of the 3 elements of dueling (which I knew) Monsters, Spells and Traps. Next he activates Battle Constant, forcing him to remove from play a Monster, Spell and Trap he controls to bring out Brain Dragon (2800) in Attack Mode. Due to Laplace's effect, Jaden takes 1200 damage for the 4 cards that were out when it left the field, leaving Jaden with 1000. Eisenstein attacks directly with Brain Dragon but Jaden activates Flute of Summoning Kuriboh (The Flute of Summoning Kuriboh in the TCG), letting him bring out Winged Kuriboh (200) in Defense Mode, which gets destroyed. Jaden thanks his monster but Eisenstein says Duel Monsters can't talk. (I'd have to disagree because it seems you, Eisenstein, have missed the lecture where not only in this series but in the past series where Dark Magician Girl literally spoke.) Jaden draws and plays Elemental Hero Bubbleman (800) in Attack Mode and equips it with Bubble Blaster, raising is ATK to 1600. Then he plays Hero Dice, letting him roll a die and Bubbleman gets a bonus depending on the result. Since it was 6, Bubbleman can attack directly, leaving Eisenstein with 2400 and lowering Brain Dragon's ATK to 1200 by RF's effect. Eisenstein uses his Brain Dragon's effect to draw 2 cards, then put any 2 back on the top of his deck in any order. Then he plays Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Bubble Blaster, returning Bubbleman's ATK to 800. He attack and destroys Bubbleman with BD, leaving Jaden with 600. Jaden plays Neo-Spacian Glow Moss (300) in Attack Mode and uses O - Oversoul to resurrect Neos. Finally he Contact Fuses his two monsters for Elemental Hero Glow Neos (2500) and uses its effect to destroy RF, then attacks directly with it by its own effect, winning the duel. Eisenstein requests Jaden to teach an old man new tricks, then Jaden races back out, saying he passed Crowler's test but Crowler says he'll be giving tests once the Gx tournament is over and Jaden wouldn't have passed any test Crowler gave him. Meanwhile, Bastion figures he must be like a butterfly and takes off almost all of his clothing. (WTF happened to not showing people's bare chests, 4Kids????? I thought you didn't want us to see this.) In any case, Bastion wants to continue where Eisenstein left off but Eisenstein says he's getting too old for this and his days of dueling science are over. Nevertheless, Bastion still wants to be like Eisenstein, who has disappeared, or really fell down once more. |
