Episode 221: The Final Duel (1)

In the desert, Joey is getting impatient but the group finally arrives at the Shrine of the Millennium Stone. Once inside, Joey and Tristan are excited for the pending duel but Tea` isn't, questioning why it's being rushed so soon. Ishizu and Yugi explain that it must be done as Atem doesn't belong here and the window of opportunity will close if too much time passes. Kaiba threatens to leave if they start holding hands but Joey adds that Kaiba might not be so bitter if he had friends. They resume their walk and arrive at the Millennium Stone where Yugi places the Millennium Items in place to separate himself from Atem. As the Eye of Ouija gazes into Yugi, Yugi activates his Duel Disk and everyone watches in amazement as Atem and Yugi are revealed side-by-side before taking their places for the duel. Even though not connected with Atem, Yugi still feels as though he can hear his thoughts and feels the same way.

The duel preparations get underway before Atem begins by discarding 1 card to Special Summon The Tricky (2000) in Attack Mode and sets 1 card to end his turn. Yugi draws and activates Swords of Revealing Light to keep Atem's monsters at bay for 3 turns. Next he summons Green Gadget (1400) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to pick up Red Gadget. Finally he sets 1 card to end his turn. Atem draws and activates Rebellion to make Yugi's monster attack Yugi but Yugi is ready with Stronghold the Moving Fortress, a Trap Card that is also a Monster Card with 2000 DEF but his LPs drop by 600 to 3400 since GG was Yugi's monster and it attacked a monster with higher DEF. (In the CG, it'd be Atem that takes the damage.)

Yugi draws and activates Ties of Brethren to pay 1000 Life Points and bring out 2 monsters from his Deck, bringing his score down to 2400 and Summoning Red Gadget (1500) and Yellow Gadget (1200) in Defense Mode. Furthermore, since they're all on the field, Stronghold's ATK becomes 3000. He attacks but Atem activates Bounce to move Swords of Revealing Light to Yugi's side and keep Yugi's monsters at bay for 3 turns. Yugi puts Green Gadget in Defense Mode and ends his turn and Atem doesn't plan on going easy on him. Yami draws and uses Tricky Spell 4 to send his Tricky to the Grave to get a Tricky Token for each of Yugi's monsters, giving him 4. It may seem like an even field but Atem tributes 3 of the tokens for Obelisk the Tormentor (4000) in Attack Mode. His attack destroys Stronghold and leaves its Gadgets on the ground and Yugi down to 1400 LPs. He sets 1 card to end his turn.

Yugi draws and sets 3 cards before summoning Silent Swordsman (" ") (1000) in Attack Mode. Atem draws and sets 1 card before activating Card of Sanctity to force both players to draw cards until they have six cards in their hands. (The real card forces the player to remove from play all cards they control and in their hand to draw cards until they have 2 in their hand.)  Next Atem attacks but Yugi is ready with Ground Erosion and Turn Jump, weakening Obelisk by 500 points with each passing turn and Turn Jump caused 3 turns to pass, weakening Obelisk by 1500 to 2500. Furthermore, Yugi's SS is now Level 3 with 2500 ATK.

However, Atem activates Summoning Clock, letting him Special Summon 1 monster with each turn passed, letting him play King's Knight (1600), Queen's Knight (1500), Jack's Knight (by King's Knight's effect) (1900) and Slifer the Sky Dragon (X000) in Attack Mode and with 3 cards in Atem's hand, it has 3000 ATK and DEF. Yugi counters with Ambush Shield to tribute RG and add its DEF to SSLV3, raising its ATK by 1500 to 4000. Atem isn't quite done as he tributes his 3 knights for The Winged Dragon of Ra (????) in Attack Mode, whose ATK becomes the tributed monsters, making its ATK 5000 and its DEF 4000. The true test is about to begin!
