Episode 185: Unwanted Guest (1)

The new season kicks off with a new intro, new faces and new monsters, then we find Joey, Tristan and Joey asleep in the trailer until Rebecca wakes them up. As Joey prepares to go back to sleep, Rebecca wonders where Yugi is and we find him walking through the edge of a forest to a lake, enjoying some peace and quiet. Yami is a bit uneasy, noting that there's always a greater evil following their victory. It also brings them a step closer to solving Yami's past. He brings out the 3 God Cards and hopes the cards will provide answers. Their train of thought is cut short as Rebecca calls out to them with Tea` following and ends up knocking Yugi to the ground, much to Tea`'s disgust.

They're brought to a table for lunch and Yugi says they should be getting back home soon but the others don't agree and Professor Hawkins gets a phone call that comes as a big shock when he answers it. Back outside, Yami states they should stay as he can wait another day or two.

However, things go a bit awry as no one made plans for a return trip as Pegasus flew them there in the first place and they can't afford the trip back home. Suddenly one of Kaiba's helicopters arrives and Mokuba (now with a new voice) offers a trip back home provided they enter Kaiba's new tournament and fills them in at the table, recalling how it all started. Joey protests that Kaiba should've come to see them himself but Mokuba explains that Kaiba is too busy to come or participate in his own tournament. Yugi, Joey and Rebecca agree to enter and Mokuba was asked to invite them anyway and hands them their passes, telling them that their flight is boarding now.

On a castle across the way, a man with a German accent gets word of this new tournament, revealing a relationship to Kaiba in the process. He warns Kaiba to be careful as the most delicate flowers can be dangerous and picks up a rose from his vase. He'd rather harm Kaiba himself and smashes the rose against the screen of his laptop. Meanwhile, the chopper approaches and Mokuba adds that tons of them are planned across the globe but all Rebecca wants is a tunnel of love. When they land, Joey has to use the bathroom but the path to it leads him to a Blue-Eyes White Dragon statue that scares him to thinking it's real. Now inside the theme park, the people there are special guests and rides are free for the day, prompting Joey and Tristan to ride the Tilt-A-Hurl until they feel sick to the stomach and Tea` realizes she needs some female friends.

Mokuba has saved the best for last as they arrive at the Kaiba Dome, the largest stadium in the world complete with a dueling arena called the Dueltech 760. The Dueltech, which has a female voice, is in the midst of a duel with his opponent and their Gagagigo destroy the Dueltech's Blade Knight. The Dueltech activates Scapegoat during its opponent's (whom I'll call Ben unless his name comes up) End Phase and few observing the move understand what's going on until Dueltech activates its face down card, DNA Surgery to make all monsters on the field Dragon-Type. Next it uses Polymerization to bring out Five-Headed Dragon (5000) in Attack Mode. Mokuba adds that the computer mimics the best duelists' decks and players can choose 1 of 5 levels.

Dueltech's attack destroys (now named) Luke's monster (and starting around 14:16, they're using a slightly updated LP graphic to separate numbers for LPs and numbers for a monster's ATK and/or DEF) to win the duel. One of the kids watching reminds Luke of the bet apparently made beforehand while another spots Yugi Muto and a crowd forms around him and Rebecca. One of them from earlier reveals himself as Leon and a big fan of Yugi's since Duelist Kingdom. Poor Joey isn't recognized from the crowd. Another boy wants Yugi to have a look at his deck because he can't seem to win and is told about the balance his deck needs for his Dragon cards. Yugi also gives him a Heart of the Underdog card, hinting at remanding him of Joey and the boy runs to try it out in a Level 2 duel. Back at the castle, the man's plan is now underway and he initiates something via mouse click and as the duel is about to get started, the power cuts out. The outage is short-lived but the doors close, leaving them all trapped and the Dueltech's voice is now male. Rebecca analyzes and finds the machine controlled by an outside party, concluding that the only way out is to duel.

The Dueltech plays Berserk Gorilla (2000) in Attack Mode and sets 1 card to end its turn. Worse still, Yugi finds its set to the highest level (and we find the boy facing it is named Rick). Yugi becomes Yami and offers to take over in Rick's place. Yami must make a move for forfeit the duel!
