Episode 18: Arena of Lost Souls (2) | |||
At the graveyard arena, Joey brings out Garoozis (1800) in Attack Mode and attacks, taking out CC but dealing nod damage to Bonz and bringing CC back once more. Bonz has to explain that his Clown Zombie (rather Crass Clown) gets an additional 10% boost since it came back via Call of the Haunted, putting its ATK at 1890. It takes out Garoozis, leaving Joey's score down from 1620 from earlier to 1530 now. Deep inside the cave, the group have ran off without Bakura but they soon find him with a skeleton on his back and Tristan promptly destroys its head. They come across a split path but before they can make a choice, Bakura steps on some kind of switch that triggers a boulder that follows their downhill escape into a dead end after the boulder runs over Bakura. Tristan tries his strength and they discover it's not real, just a balloon with a speaker inside. Yugi figures Pegasus spared no expense to scare them. Back at the duel, Joey talks himself back into the duel and draws Time Wizard, remembering its life-saving events of duels past. He plays said Time Wizard (500) in Attack Mode and uses its effect, which worries Bonz. Bandit Keith explains that TW is a game of chance but that doesn't settle Bonz's nerves. Unfortunately for Joey, TW lands on a skull, taking his monsters away and leaving his score down to 630 after taking half his destroyed monsters' ATKs as damage. Bonz gives Joey a free turn and Joey takes that by setting a monster.
Bonz then goes to attack but BK wants him to strengthen his Zombies so Joey will get defeated in a few turns (don't know how because you can't attack a player directly) and orders Bonz to play Pumpking the King of Ghosts (1800) in Attack Mode to 1950 by the FPB. Bonz explains that his Pumpking gives his Zombies 10% more ATK each turn. (The real card only gives itself 100 ATK and DEF for the next 4 turns if Castle of Dark Illusions is face up on the field.) With CD, Zanki and CC's new ATKs up to 2025, 2240 and 2100 respectively, Bonz attacks with CD, destroying Joey's face down Kojikocy (1200) in Defense Mode (although it isn't stated). Joey plays Armored Lizard (1200) in Defense Mode and it gets taken out by CD's attack. Bonz is loving this as Joey can barely defend himself with more than another monster. Bonz takes out Joey's next hidden monster (named Glass Man in the Manga) (1000). Joey sets another monster (Masaki the Legendary Swordsman) (1100) in Defense Mode and it gets destroyed by CD's attack. There must be some way to defeat them. Yugi would know and with that, Yugi and his friends arrive. However, BK's friends get the better of Tristan and they all learn about Bandit Keith himself. Joey sets what we find out is Tiger Axe (1100) in Defense Mode and it too is taken out. Bonz sets a card, claiming that whatever monster Joey sets will activate it (He calls it a Trap Card but because of a similar error with Call of the Haunted, I won't mention where it is). Joey brings out Red-Eyes Black Dragon (2400) in Attack Mode and takes out Pumpking, leaving Bonz down to 855 LPs. Nevertheless, REBD isn't enough and is destroyed in battle by CD's attack, leaving Joey down to 150 and all but done for. Defense gives Yugi an idea and he tells Joey there's a way, given that Joey has a Spell Card that can turn the entire duel around. Sure enough, Joey draws it, Shield and Sword. He plays the only monster left in his hand, Battle Warrior (700) in Attack Mode. Next he plays the Shield & Sword card he drew, swapping the ATK of all face up monsters, leaving Bonz's monsters with 0 ATK and Joey's monster with 1000 ATK. Joey's attack takes out CD and wins the duel. BK heads out, leaving his friends behind and only stops when Joey suggests facing him one-on-one but BK only laughs, saying it's about winning not how you go about it and heads off with his friends. Yugi and crew see the light at the end and race for it but BK and his friends shove a real boulder in front of the entrance before they have a talk, adding their star chips to his own, leaving them behind as he heads for Pegasus' castle. Still inside. try as they might, the boulder won't budge. Are they really trapped in there? |
