Episode 5: The Ultimate Great Moth

(What awful editing they did here. Instead of using the scene featuring Weevil's great moth gloating, they used the scene where Weevil's score dropped to 555 and cut-off Weevil's line about luring them into his trap for the 2nd time!) At the duel site, Mai shows up, not impressed with Yu-Gi-Oh's move, reminding them that Weevil is regional champion and isn't about to miss the duel. Weevil decides to play wimp and sets a monster in Defense Mode for his turn. Yu-Gi-Oh knows Weevil's Trap Card will destroy all of his monsters the minute he attacks so he uses Monster Recovery to return all his monsters to his deck and redraw.

The card, shown at 5:21 into the episode, gets a redesign for US. (The real card only returns 1 monster you control and all cards in your hand to the Deck.) Next he plays Kuriboh (300) in Attack Mode and attacks, triggering Weevil's Trap Card to destroy Kuriboh (and apparently deduct the monster's ATK out of Yu-Gi-Oh's score to leave him down to 1050). Weevil didn't care about the Trap Card at all and flips his face down Larvae Moth (500) in Attack Mode, strengthened to 650 by FPB. (The real card can't be Special Summoned except first when it's been 2 turns since Petit Moth was equipped with Cocoon of Evolution.) Next he plays Cocoon of Evolution (2000) in Defense Mode and equips it to LM, explaining that in 5 turns he'll summon out Great Moth. (The real CoE can only be equipped to Petit Moth and brings out  Great Moth at the 4th turn or Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth at the 5th turn) With FPB, CoE's DEF goes up to 2600, preventing most of Yu-Gi-Oh's monsters from taking it out.

Yu-Gi-Oh brings out Gaia the Fierce Knight (2300) in Attack Mode and stupidly attacks, not destroying CoE and leaving his score down to 750. Turns pass and Yu-Gi-Oh sets a monster. Mai snickers at their cheerleading, not believing they actually still think Yu-Gi-Oh can win, leaving Tea` fuming until the group learns that all who've faced CoE lost. (Well they're a bunch of sorry wimps because it's hardly a threat, even at either of its strongest forms.) Yu-Gi-Oh plays Curse of Dragon (2000) in Attack Mode and activates Burning Land before attacking with CoD, destroying the field surroundings and returning CoE's DEF to 2000.

(The real Burning Land card just destroys all Field Spell Cards out and inflicts 500 damage to both players during their respective Standby Phases.). His next attack doesn't destroy the Cocoon as Joey figures it evolved enough to survive (None of this nonsense is possible in the real game.) and Weevil brings out Great Moth (2600) in Attack Mode, gloating about his monster more. Oops! At 13:33 into the episode, Great Moth's DEF was shown at 2300 when we saw it at the correct DEF when it was summoned. Weevil attacks as Yu-Gi-Oh uses Polymerization for Gaia the Dragon Champion (2600) in Attack Mode (Although he doesn't say this is the card's name and the real Polymerization doesn't alter anything on any card in the CG, not to mention this is an illegal move in the CG), destroying Yu-Gi-Oh's Beaver Warrior (1500) in Defense Mode.

Suddenly, GDC starts losing ATK thanks to GM's attack (The real card doesn't have this effect but it's not like that'd make it any better of a card to use anyway). Yu-Gi-Oh counters with Makiu the Magical Mist to get rid of the poison. (The real card needs Summoned Skull or another Thunder-Type monster on your field to even be activated and it'd get rid of all your opponent's monsters with DEF equal to or less than your selected monster's ATK.) Nevertheless, Weevil takes out GDC to leave Yu-Gi-Oh down to just 50 LPs. Yu-Gi-Oh is smiling and laughs, surprising Mai and plays Summoned Skull (2500) in Attack Mode. MMM is still dampening the field and boosts Summoned Skull's ATK by 1000 to 3500. (The real card doesn't do either of these.) His attack destroys GM and wins the duel. Joey relieves Weevil of his dueling glove and Yu-Gi-Oh does the same to his star chips, adding them to his own. (For whatever odd reason, they show Weevil as a card, then put an x through his image.) He still must win 7 more and he'll defeat Pegasus once and for all!
