Episode 63: Signs of Doom (2)
Just outside the duel, Angela is reporting on the events unfolding but is unable to get a better view but they do know it's a big event going down. At the duel, Crow sets 2 cards as the slime monster approaches. Akiza knows that they can only stop Goodwin by winning so Jack draws and sets 1 card before playing Magic Hole Golem (2000) in Defense Mode. Next, he uses MHG's effect to halve his Mad Archfiend's ATK to 900 and attack directly with it, bringing Goodwin down to 7900 LPs. Furthermore, Crow activates Shadow Dance to deal Goodwin an additional 1000 damage since a monster attacked directly this turn, leaving Goodwin's score down to 6900.
Yusei then activates Rising Rush to Special Summon Junk Synchron (1300) in Attack Mode since Goodwin took effect damage. Next, he draws and uses his monsters as Synchro Material for Junk Archer (2300) in Attack Mode.
After successfully using JA's effect to remove Moon Dragon Quilla from play, Yusei attacks directly with JA but Goodwin activates Offering to the Immortals to negate the attack and Special Summon 2 Stone Monument Tokens since he controls no monsters and is being attacked directly. (The real card can only be activated if you have 3000 or less Life Points but can be used if you still have monsters and are being attacked directly and Special Summons Ceremonial Tokens.) Worse still, Goodwin also gets an Earthbound Immortal monster from his Deck to his hand, leaving the others to believe the duel is harder than they thought it'd be. Yusei sets 2 cards to end his turn, returning MDQ back to the field in Defense Mode.
Goodwin draws and tributes his tokens for Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca (0001) in Attack Mode. (The real card's ATK and DEF are 100.) As a result, more souls, including Angela's are absorbed. Down below, the group find themselves surrounded by phantom birds. However, just when Yusei appears to be taking the next hit, Akiza's Black Rose Dragon and Luna's Ancient Fairy Dragon fight back and take them out. Nevertheless, Goodwin is about to use EIWR's effect to make their LPs 1 by skipping his Battle Phase. (The real card returns up to 3 cards you control to the Deck to send an equal number of random cards in your opponent's hand to the Graveyard and give it 1000 ATK per card discarded from your opponent's hand by its effect.)

After taking a hit from one of Goodwin's phantom birds, Crow becomes angry and in response to Goodwin using EIWR's effect to make Yusei's LPs 1, he activates Life Exchange to take the hit himself and destroy 1 monster on the field. He chooses to destroy MDQ (which he calls Moon Shadow Dragon at around 11:36 to 11:38 into the US episode). As a result, Sun Dragon Inti is revived (3000) in Attack Mode. As a last hurrah, Crow tributes Blackwing Armor Master to activate Blackwing - Anchor (Blackwing - Bombardment in the CG) to give another Synchro ATK equal to his Tributed monster's ATK (but they don't tell you that). Crow flies off the Daedalus Bridge and manages to land on the ground but is out of the duel.
Jack draws and summons Sinister Sprocket (400) in Attack Mode and since it's a Tuner, he uses his monsters as Synchro Material for Red Dragon Archfiend (3000) in Attack Mode. Knowing full well what'll happen, Jack activates Half Straight to halve RDA's ATK to 1500 and attack directly with it but Goodwin uses SDI's other effect to make its ATK 0. (The real card doesn't have this effect.) Since RDA would be destroyed as it must now attack SDI, Yusei activates Scrubbed Raid and urges Jack to pick a card to send to the Grave and end the Battle Phase.
However, Jack gets enough convincing from Goodwin to resume his attack and take out SDI to leave Goodwin down to 5400 LPs.They had Goodwin but now they have Moon Dragon Quilla again, in Attack Mode and Jack is down 1500 LPs to 2500 by SDI's effect.Jack doesn't stay convinced by Goodwin for long as he realizes that his friends have done much for him and being a champ is meaningless if you're the only one enjoying it.Goodwin draws and activates Destruct Potion to destroy MDQ and raise his LPs by 2500 to 7900, which in turn revives SDI. The signers' time has run out and they failed!
