Episode 48: Mark of the Monkey (2)

At the duel, Leo rises to his feet a bit worn out but Yusei and Trudge are confident he can handle the stress. Leo draws and summons Morphtronic Magnen Bar (100) in Defense Mode and sets 1 card, perhaps deciding to let Devak take his monsters. In the Spirit World, Luna has much to do but first is to find Regulus. A city looms in front of her and she finds it's not as abandoned as it looked but the occupants, Duel Spirits, don't like her company and run away. Kuribon leads her to a set of stairs where a ball bounces up them before Luna realizes that things are moving in reverse. The Duel Spirits warn of 'The Collectors" and order Luna to follow but Luna doesn't understand what all this means and doesn't want to find out.

She finds an alley to hide in and sees the Duel Spirits in her Deck are just as scared but her hideout is quickly found and she loses the three spirits that try to run away. She's now their next target and finds a passageway that leads to a dead end but the villagers show her a new path underground. Meanwhile, Devak draws and uses Magician Ape/Ape Magician's' effect to discard 1 Monster Card and gain control of Morphtronic Magnen Bar as Leo wanted for now Devak cannot attack. However, Devak tributes the newly acquired monster for Fighter Ape (Ape Fighter in the CG and it's a Level 4 monster) (1900) in Attack Mode, which gains 400 ATK each time it destroys an opponent's monster. (The real card gains only 300 ATK.) He attacks but Leo activates Remake Puzzle to destroy Devak's other acquired Morphtronic monster, negate the attack and Special Summon Morphtronic Magnen Bar in Defense Mode from his Graveyard.

Elsewhere, Mina, Jack and Akiza know a Shadow Duel is underway but neither Jack nor Akiza's marks are glowing. Back in the Spirit World, Luna learns of a legend she's taking part in and that his friend, dressed as Dark Sage, is named Torunka has no idea why the Duel Spirits are being captured. No one knows how it all started, just that one day the dark shadows appeared and Torunka shares what he knows of the story (and there's a bit of inconsistency here with the stone cards as earlier we saw Kuribon's stone card formatted as regular cards are but in the shots from Torunka's story, they're not formatted at all, not to mention without their Star Level). He also explains that Regulus is not only difficult to find but it's believed he's under the Minus Curse as he's taken on a new behavior. At first, Torunka wants to stay but decides to join in but The Collectors spot them but Luna uses their own staff against them (literally) by causing bottles to roll towards them. They stop on a hill before Luna decides to carry Torunka and shares about herself.

Leo takes his turn by summoning Morphtronic Celfon (100) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to pick up 3 cards and Special Summon Morphtronic Remoten (300) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Level Mirroring to make Morphtronic Magnen Bar's Level the same as MA/AM's, making it Level 3. Then he uses all his monsters as Synchro Material for Power Tool Dragon (2300) in Attack Mode. Now he uses PTD's effect to add a random Equip Spell from his deck to his hand and gets Break! Draw!, which he equips to PTD, letting him draw 1 card each time PTD destroys an opponent's monster in battle. (The real PTD lets you pick 3 Equip Spells and make your opponent choose one of them to add to your hand and return the rest to the Deck.) His attack destroys MA and leaves Devak down to 2500 LPs while Leo draws a card by BD's effect. Luna and Torunka discuss what could be up with Zeman the Ape King's use of the Duel Spirits and Zeman still cannot take Ancient Fairy Dragon's power while Regulus is free.

Devak figures Luna is in the Spirit World and takes his turn as ordered by Leo, Summoning Dark Tuner Dark Ape (0000) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Dark Wave to make FA's Level negative. Then he uses his two monsters as Dark Synchro Material for Zeman the Ape King (2500) in Attack Mode. (The real card is a regular Synchro Monster that needs a DARK Tuner and non-Tuner Beast-Type monsters. In case you're wondering, Dark Ape's effect lets its owner draw 1 card when used for a Dark Synchro Summon but they don't tell you that.) However, Leo points out that PTD is stronger (when it's not) before Devak plays Closed Forest. While Leo takes in what's happening, Luna and Torunka see where Regulus used to live and Luna decides to call Regulus out but when Regulus appears, they may be his next meal!
