Episode 35: Dark Signs (4)

As the helicopter flies overhead and Crow watches, Yusei's Satellite friends arrive and discover where Yusei is. At the duel, since Yusei has no monsters and Kalin does, Yusei Special Summons Level Warrior (300) in Attack Mode as a Level 4 monster. Then he plays Hyper Synchron (1600) in Attack Mode and uses his monsters as Synchro Material for Stardust Dragon (2500) in Attack Mode. Kalin is somewhat flattered but Yusei's SD gains 800 ATK and cannot be destroyed in battle since HS was used to Synchro Summon a Dragon-Type monster, putting SD's ATK up to 3300. (The real Hyper Synchron removes the Synchro Monster from play during the End Phase if the Synchro Monster it's used for is a Dragon-Type.) His attack doesn't destroy Hundred-Eyes Dragon as it's using Infernalty Guardian's effect to make it invincible in battle but he still takes Battle Damage, bringing his score down to 3700.

Since SD dealt Kalin Battle Damage, Yusei's Shard of Hope's effect activates, letting Yusei draw 1 card and if it's a Trap Card, he can destroy SoH and activate the drawn Trap Card. He draws Miracle Locus and activates it to force Kalin to draw 1 card and give SD 1000 ATK and the ability to attack again, raising SD's ATK to 4300 and leaving HED vulnerable. His attack destroys HED and leaves Kalin down to 2400 and down one Speed Counter. (The real Miracle Locus reduces Battle Damage to your opponent from the attacks to 0.) However, Kalin can now add a card from his deck to his hand (an Earthbound Immortal monster but they don't tell you that) but Yusei counters with Synchro Destructor, dealing half the ATK of the destroyed monster, then an additional half the ATK as damage if the destroyed monster was a Synchro Monster.

Nevertheless, Kalin activates Damage Translation to halve the damage from Synchro Deflector's effect, leaving his score down to 900. Since Yusei can't do anything else this turn, Kalin's DT card also gives Kalin a Ghost Token each time he took damage and since he took damage twice, he gets two Ghost Tokens (0000 x2) in Attack Mode and Yusei knows it cannot be a good thing. Yusei is proven right as hundreds of people appear in the purple must as Kalin explains he's offering them up with his two Ghost Tokens for Earthbound Immortal Ccpac Apu (3000) in Attack Mode. His attack prompts Yusei to counterattack with Stardust to no avail (as the EI's attack was direct but they don't tell you that) and activate Scrap-Iron Scarecrow but since Ccpac Apu isn't affected by Spells or Traps (which they also don't tell you properly), it doesn't work either and Yusei wipes out on the pavement, causing the Signer marks to stop glowing. Since the duel has been cut off, Kalin returns his EI back to the card and leaves Yusei where he lies.

Crow and friends rush to Yusei's aid and Crow decides to take Yusei to Martha's house and while Jack wants to go after Kalin, Mina says there's nothing that can be done. Back on the ground, Nervin and crew start to head out before Rally reminds them of Yusei's Duel Runner still being there and what they did to create it. As they move out, the thugs start appearing and take a liking to the Duel Runner but Nervin and friends instead throw their decks into the air and bolt. Just when it looks like they'll be safe, the thugs return so Nervin and friends give up much of their clothing and run further away. Meanwhile, Crow arrives and gets Martha to come out and see Yusei's condition. Nervin and friends reach a dead end after regaining confidence to continue and an old man shows them where to go next and helps push the Duel Runner along. Along their path, they run into Blister and explain their situation before arriving inside Martha's house. Once inside, they wait for results as Martha and a doctor assess the damage. Yusei must stay strong as his health is restored!
