Episode 145: The Forbidden Ritual (2)

At the duel site, Echo continues marching towards the spot on the cave floor despite the others' pleas. Not even Adrian budges when Aster protests against his actions. The group watch in awe as one of Exodia's arms comes out and grabs Echo. Adrian says this isn't DA and the duel must continue until one of them is sent to the stars. He discards 2 Forbidden One cards to bring out Exodios, the Ultimate Forbidden Lord (Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord in the CG) (????) in Attack Mode. It can't be destroyed, nor targeted by card effects. His ATK becomes the number of Forbidden One cards in his Grave x 1000 and with 2 parts in Grave, Exodios' ATK becomes 2000. (The real card gains 1000 ATK for each Normal Monster in your Grave and is vulnerable to card effects.) He attacks Aster's Disk Commander but not before sending another Exodia piece to the Grave to put Exodios' ATK up to 3000 (The real card can send from the hand or deck to the Grave and isn't restricted on the monster you can send that way.), leaving Aster down to 1300 LPs.

Too bad for Adrian that he can't summon Exodia...or can he as Adrian says Exodios has another effect that grants him an instant victory if there are 5 Forbidden One cards in his Grave by Exodios' effect. (They have to be different, and they will be since the pieces are each restricted to 1 in the CG.) Aster aims to stop Exodia and sets 1 card,  then uses Dunker's effect to discard another Destiny Hero and leave Adrian 500 LPs weaker down to 1300. Next, he uses Diamond Dude's effect to let him remove from play a Destiny Hero in his Grave and bring back a Level 4 or below Destiny Hero from his Grave and he chooses Disk Commander. (It's actually the effect of his Doctor D Spell Card sent to the Grave by Diamond Dude's effect that is being activated.) Then, after Disk Commander's effect is triggered once more, Aster tributes his monsters for Destiny Hero - Dogma (3400) in Attack Mode, stronger than Exodios in an attack, which is declared, leaving Adrian at 900.

Adrian draws, and courtesy of Dogma's effect, his LPs are halved to 450. Next, he attacks, sending another Forbidden One part to the Grave to put Exodios' ATK at 4000, taking out Dogma and leaving Aster down to 700. Exodia is eager to break out of his prison and Echo is in more pain than ever before. After another speech about his plans for later, Aster draws and uses D - Mind to bring out Destiny Hero - Departed (1000) in Attack Mode since he controls no Destiny Heroes. Next, he removes from play his Malicious for another Destiny Hero Malicious (800) in Attack Mode. Then he Normal Summons D - Cubic (0000) in Attack Mode and tributes his monsters for Destiny Hero - Plasma (1900) in Attack Mode. To prevent Adrian from winning by Exodios' effect, he activates Drain Time and chooses the Battle Phase, preventing either player from entering that phase of the turn for the turn.

He sets 1 card to end his turn. Adrian draws and Aster activates Plasma Roar, which now gets a Plasma Counter and can be activated since DHP is in play. All Adrian does for his turn is set 1 card face down. For Aster's turn, his Departed's effect activates to Special Summon itself to Adrian's field. He attacks but Adrian activates Defense Seal Wall and with Exodios in play, the attack is cancelled and the Battle Phase ends. Still, Aster uses Plasma's effect to equip itself with Departed and gain half its ATK to 2400 (not Life Points as Aster says from 14:22 to 14:24 into the episode). He sets 1 card to end his turn, thinking he just has to last one more round. If he does, he can uses PR's effect to send itself to the Grave with 2 Plasma Counters on it, then destroy 1 monster and deal Adrian half its ATK as damage.

It can't work on Exodios but can on his own monster. Adrian attacks but Aster activates Plasma Discharger, ending the Battle Phase by destroying an Equip Card he has. While he hopes for Adrian to just end his turn now, Echo yells out in pain for the final time and her pendant drops to the ground. Her spirit talks to Aster about the mess before Adrian activates Rage of the Forbidden One, cancelling out all effects the opponent used this turn. He sends the final Exodia piece to win the duel with his attack and Aster's Duel Disk starts counting down his score by the single digits (strangely with the original SFX from the Japanese episode, possibly because they couldn't come up with a better one). The rest barely make it out and awaken to Exodia walking past commanded by Adrian. Jaden declares that Adrian will pay while Adrian mentally thinks that Echo's actions will not be in vain.
