Episode 95: Tough Love

At a dueling site, Syrus uses Submarineroid's effect to attack directly and beat his opponent: an Obelisk Blue, who questions what happened as last time, Syrus was hiding in dumpsters and now he's kicking but. Nothing changed according to Syrus but Jaden says now he's taking names and GX medals. Hassleberry calls down from the cliff, saying Zane and Aster have met and it's about to get ugly. When they arrive, Aster explains that Zane just wants victory. Zane says they're all the same: a bunch of worthless maggots! Jaden says it's time for Syrus to duel Zane and Syrus chooses to but he has to do it under Zane's rules!

The duel gets underway as Zane plays Infernal Dragon (0000) in Defense Mode and sets 1 card to end his turn. Syrus plays Truckroid (1000) in Attack Mode and Zane makes a remark about it. Syrus attacks, destroying ID and uses Truckroid's effect to get ID, raising its own ATK to 3000. He sets 1 card to end his turn. Zane plays Exploder Dragon (1000) in Attack Mode and attacks, destroying both monsters by ED's effect.

Next he plays Quick Summon, letting him play Cyberdark Horn (0800) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to equip it with ID. (The real card can only equip with Level 3 or lower Dragon-Type monsters.) CH's ATK rises to 2800 and Zane attacks Syrus directly but Syrus activates Life Force, letting him reduce damage to 0 by paying 400 Life Points and he does, leaving his score at 3600 and resulting in a shock through his body.

Syrus plays Submarineroid (0800) in Attack Mode and attacks Zane directly with its effect but Zane doesn't yell in pain as he's gotten used to the shocks yet his score drops to 3200. Syrus switches Submarineroid to Defense Mode and sets 1 card to end his turn. Zane now thinks they're the feeling of victory and draws, playing Cyberdark Edge (0800) in Attack Mode and equips it with Exploder Dragon from his Grave, raising its ATK to 1800. Next, he attacks Syrus' Submarineroid but Syrus activates Cyber Repairer, making Submarineroid invincible in battle but Zane reminds Syrus of CH's effect of Piercing Damage yet Syrus again uses Life Force's effect, leaving him with 3200. Zane attacks directly with CE, lowering it's ATK to 900 but Syrus again uses Life Force's effect, leaving him with 2800.

This isn't a duel, it's sick! Zane tells about how he used to think the same way as Syrus but then he saw that duels aren't all fun and games; they hurt! Syrus plays Pot of Greed. Next he summons Cycroid (0800) in Attack Mode and equips it with Training Wheels, letting Cycroid attack directly. Next he switches Submarineroid to Attack Mode and attacks directly with both monsters, leaving Zane with 1600. Syrus sets 1 card face down, switches Submarineroid to Defense Mode, then Cycroid gets removed from play by TW's effect. Zane draws and also plays Pot of Greed. Then he plays Cyberdark Keel (0800) in Attack Mode. Next he attacks with his monsters but Syrus uses Life Force's effect on all 3 monsters, leaving his score at 1600. Zane sets 1 card face down to end his turn.

Syrus doesn't know who Zane is anymore but decides not to respect him anymore. It takes another of Jaden's "Don't Give Up" speeches before Syrus gets back in the duel. Syrus draws and brings back his Cycroid that was RFG last turn. Next he uses Power Bond to bring out Pair Cycroid (1600) in Attack Mode and due to PB's effect, PC's ATK doubles to 3200. Then he uses PC's effect, letting it attack directly by reducing its ATK by 500, leaving its ATK at 2700. Zane activates Power Wall, which lets him send cards from his deck to the Grave to deal Syrus 100 damage for each card sent. (Actually it reduces the Battle Damage done to Zane by 100 points for each card sent). He chooses to send 27 cards to the Grave.

Zane reminds Syrus that his turn isn't over until Power Bond's effect activates but Syrus activates Mirror Damage to inflict the damage to Zane instead but Zane activates Fusion Guard, negating the damage and letting Zane send Cyber End Dragon to his Grave. Zane draws his last card and plays Warp Beam, letting him send 2 monsters to the Grave and lets his CH and CK attack directly by reducing their ATKs to 600 and he also chooses to let CE attack directly by its effect, reducing its ATK to 400 but Syrus again uses the effect of Life Force, leaving his score at 400.(this wouldn't be legal if the card were to exist in the CG because the monsters Zane chose to send to the Grave weren't actually monsters since they were equipped.)

Zane activates his face down card, Rebirth Judgment, letting Zane make all monsters in the Grave a type of monster and he chooses Dragons. Then he plays the final card in his hand Instant Fusion, letting him send his 3 Cyberdark monsters to his Grave for Cyberdark Dragon (1000) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to equip it with Cyber End Dragon, raising its ATK to 5000 and it gets 100 ATK for every  Dragon-Type monster in Zane's Grave (The real card only gets 100 ATK for every monster in your Grave. The real Instant Fusion costs 1000 Life Points to use and can only bring out Level 5 or lower Fusion Monsters and doesn't require sending materials to the Grave.), raising its ATK to 8800 and the gang know it's over even if Syrus uses Life Force's effect.

(In the real game you can't use the card if your LPs are exactly or less than the amount needed to activate the card's effect.) Zane attacks but Syrus uses Emergency Provisions to send Mirror Damage to the Grave and give himself 1000 Life Points, raising his score to 1400, then to 1000 as he uses Life Force's effect. Unfortunately for Syrus, Zane has activated De-Fusion on his Cyberdark Dragon to bring back his Cyberdark Horn, Cyberdark Edge and Cyberdark Keel. Zane attacks directly with them to win the duel, then walks away. The gang rush to Syrus' aid and Jaden requests for a doctor to arrive quickly!
