Episode 62: A Greater Porpoise

While searching for Jaden, Syrus and Hassleberry talk about how they are each his friend separately. Alexis asks them if they've been searching. When they continue arguing, she asks them to take a breather. On the roof, Chazz chimes in that Jaden's stopped dueling and didn't "see the light". He laughs triumphantly then nearly falls off the dorm roof. In his lair. Sartorius ponders why Jaden alluded him. Only the cards have the answer. A card flies through the air and remains face down.

He picks up the card, stating that when upright, it signifies rebirth but when upside down it signifies destruction but it landed neither way. Back on the boat, Jaden wished he had packed snacks before he left. He yells into the sky, asking it whether he should duel again or give up. (What happened to your "never give up" speech, Jaden?) He sees what he thinks is a shooting star but it ends up being something else as it hurtles towards him. He's changed his mind, he doesn't want a sign! The "meteor" emits a strong light and Jaden sees his monsters from past duels, then his opponents from past duels.

He awakens on what looks to be a beach at first but then appears to be on another planet. He didn't pack his swimsuit! He hopes there is cable there. A voice tells him that TV rots the brain. It is revealed that what Jaden thought was only a dolphin was an advanced Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin. Aquos as the dolphin prefers to be called explains that within the universe is Neo Space a direct balance between light and darkness. Without one, the other cannot survive. Jaden tries to put it into better perspective with the comparison of fries and ketchup, (which isn't exactly a good example because one can have fries without ketchup.)

A UFO flies out of the air as Aquos explains they (the Society of Light) have found them. The UFO lands and a strange monster lands on the ground. Aquos says the monster is Jaden's next opponent. Jaden can't see his cards and he left his deck at home! Aquos points him to a cluster of parts, which has a capsule inside and a deck of cards.

We now see that the monster has a robot-like voice. Jaden's disappointed about not being able to see his cards. Aquos nods, giving the "you know what to do" look. Jaden looks again and a card appears. Jaden tells the robot he has to check on something. He says his card looks familiar. He flashes back to an earlier time. (Hey, Kaiba makes a debut here, although his attitude has changed it appears) Kaiba explains that he's hosting a contest and the winner gets their card made. He rushes back over as the robot threatens to start the process.

Jaden plays Chrysalis Dolphin (0600) in Defense Mode and ends his turn. Robot (as I will now call him until his name is mentioned) discards 2 cards in his hand for Candelato, the Beast of Light (0000) in Attack Mode. Jaden's disappointed, saying that Robot's monster is weak but Robot says that for every card in his hand, Candelato gains 1000 ATK and DEF for a total of 3000. (What they don't tell you is that Candelato reqires you to send 2 cards from your hand to the Graveyard to Summon it.)

Robot then explains that his monster cannot attack the turn it was summoned and ends his turn. Jaden plays Dandylion (0300) in Defense Mode and ends his turn. Robot says that his chances of victory are 99.6%. Jaden reminds him that Candelato prevents Robot from drawing cards. Robot then says that his chances of victory are 99.7% and destroys Dandelion, triggering its effect, letting Jaden play 2 Fluff Tokens (0000 x2) in Defense Mode.

Robot says the tokens are not found in the "monster database" (Well, they ARE monsters, actually, so your database is wrong, Robot) Jaden plays Pot of Greed. Next he uses Contact to tribute Chrysalis Dolphin for Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin (0600) in Attack Mode. Next, he tributes the fluff tokens for Elemental Hero Neos (2500) in Attack Mode. Then he uses Aqua Dolphin's effect 3 times to destroy the 3 monsters in Robot's hand and reduce Candelato's ATK to 0. He attacks and destroys Candelato with Neos, winning the duel.

So Jaden saved the world. Aquos  wishes it were that simple but many more battles are to come. Jaden returns to DA and awakens, thinking it was a dream. Dream or no dream, he needed it because it reminded him of why he started dueling and getting stranded without food is a bad idea. He looks at the deck, realizing it's real. (Well, Jaden, you can't hold something that isn't real, now can you?)
