Episode 36: Duel Distractions (1)

Outside DA, Bastion stretches, then says that it's been too quiet after the duel with Camula and he might be next. Good thing he's well equipped! He takes out one of his decks and sifts through it. He stops at a card (It's White Magician Pikeru) Where on Earth did it come from? Silly distraction card. Nothing distracts Bastion! Inside their dorm, Jaden and the gang are sleeping while Bastion has a Barrel Dragon out. He orders it to fire three times, waking up all of them. He asks them to do some daybreak dueling exercises and that's what they do outside DA. Chumley stops Syrus to see his card (Thunder Nyan Nyan), saying that card crushes are totally lame, at least with that card and he compares that with his Dian Keto card. Oops, Dian Keto was left unedited for US at 1:58 into the episode.

Chumley bets Bastion doesn't even have a card crush. Of course he doesn't! Bastion finds card crushes irrational, illogical and ridiculous and says they should get back to their dueling exercises but Bastion refuses and insists they go back to the dueling exercise but Syrus wants to play solitaire with TNN in 15 minutes. They return to their dueling exercises. Back at class, Banner is amazed at how many absences there are. Maybe there's a bug going around. Bastion agrees, thinking there is something strange going on.

Someone enters, questioning Banner about a duffle bag and Banner says it's one of his student's. He and several students head out to find this person but they only find a coliseum. Bastion goes to check it out and the rest are shocked to see some of the students and Crowler inside. Crowler says he's doing man's work and the gang are chased by a monster (Amazoness Tiger) up a column. He says that she prefers the term Amazon. A women appears, saying she is now done with her arena for dueling. Who will she duel? Chazz, Jaden and Bastion agree to the duel but the woman, whom she now refers herself as Tanya, picks Bastion.

She doesn't want his soul, she wants him! The duel starts as she plays Amazoness Swords Woman (1500) in Attack Mode and sets 1 card face down to end her turn. Bastion plays Magnet Warrior Σ＋ (1800) in Attack Mode and attacks, destroying ASW but dropping his score to 3700 as Tanya explains that her effect deals the opponent all the damage she would've taken.

Tanya activates her face down card, Pride of Tribe, which allows her to bring out another ASW in Attack Mode since it was destroyed. Bastion sets a card and ends his turn. Tanya plays Amazoness Blowpiper (0800) in Attack Mode and Bastion activates Magnet Force Minus, which is equipped to a monster, turns it to a Minus monster and forces it to battle a Plus monster. Tanya then plays Amazoness Spellcaster, swapping the ATK of two monsters, putting MWSP to 800 and Blowpiper to 1800. She attacks with her monsters, destroying Sigma Plus and leaving Bastion with 1200.

Bastion plays Magnet Conductor Plus, letting him add his MWSP to his hand. Next he discards it and Magnet Warrior Omega Minus to the Grave for Conduction Linear Warrior ± (2700) in Attack Mode. He then uses its effect, giving it half the ATK of another Magnet Monster to its own ATK for 3100. He attacks, destroying Blowpiper and reducing Tanya's LPs to 1700. Tanya attacks with Swords Woman but Bastion activates Power Off, which brings back his MWSP and Magnet Warrior Omega Minus (1900) in Attack Mode.

Tanya plays Amazoness Paladin (1700) in Attack Mode and her effect gives all her monsters 100 ATK for every Amazoness monster for a total of 1900. (It also gives her ATK for Amazon Archer.) She sets 2 cards to end her turn. Bastion plays Magnet Warrior Σ＋ (1500) in Attack Mode. Next he activates his face down One Hundred Thousand Gauss, which since he has a Plus and a Minus monster, he can switch a monster to Attack Mode and drain its ATK by 800. (If this card were to arrive in the TCG, he wouldn't be able to do so because AP is already in Attack Mode.) AP's ATK drops to 1100.

Tanya activates Dramatic Rescue, letting her return a monster she controls to her hand and summon a different one and she chooses Amazoness Tiger (1100) in Attack Mode. She gains 400 ATK for every Amazoness monster out for a total of 1900 and it can be Bastion's only attack target. Bastion figures out how to win and attacks with Omega Minus but Tanya activates Amazoness Archers, forcing all monsters he has to Attack Mode and dropping their ATKs by 600.

(The real card only drains 500 ATK). His monsters' ATKs drop to 900, 1200 and 1300. Chazz questions whether Bastion was thinking but Banner doubts he was with all the love talk. All 3 of Bastion's monsters are destroyed and his score drops to 0 as Bastion says he's all hers. Jaden tries to rush over but Tanya has AT chase after them and while they escape, Bastion doesn't. "This isn't over!" Jaden yells from behind the gate.
