Episode 28: Grave Risk (2)

At the duel, Alexis knows Jaden can win the duel and Chumley says he knows he wants out of the sarcophagus. Jaden plays Winged Kuriboh (0200) in Defense Mode and ends his turn. Chief attacks WK but Jaden activates Transcendent Wings, which by sending 2 cards in his hand and WK he controls, he can play Winged Kuriboh LV10. Transcendent Wings, when shown around 3:42 into the episode, is slightly modified for US. He tosses out Silent Doom and Bubbleman, which have also been altered for US as shown at around 3:44 into the episode.

However, Chief discards Gravekeeper's Watcher, negating the effect of Transcendent Wings. Next, he attacks and destroys WK with Assailant then sets a card to end his turn.

Jaden plays Pot of Greed, adding the top 2 cards of his deck to his hand. Dark Catapulter (left card) has been slightly changed for US as shown at 5:26 into the episode. He plays Dark Catapulter (1500) in Defense Mode. The direction of Dark Catapulter's card has been reversed for US as shown at 5:28 into the episode. Next, he plays Mirage of Nightmare and sets 3 cards to end his turn. Chief draws and Jaden activates Mirage's effect, giving him cards until his hand holds 4.Cheif tributes GC for himself, Gravekeeper's Chief (1900) in Attack Mode and with Necrovalley out, his ATK rises to 2400.

Next, while he's out, Chief's Graveyard isn't affected by Necrovalley and he can play a Gravekeeper's monster from his Graveyard, so he plays Gravekeeper's Spear Soldier (1500) in Attack Mode. Then, he activates Rite of Spirit, letting him bring back yet another Gravekeeper's monster and he chooses Curse in Attack Mode. Since Curse was summoned, Jaden takes 500 damage, leaving him with 500. He attacks with Assailant on Dark Catapulter, changing it to Attack Mode but Jaden activates Emergency Provisions, which by sending 2 Spell/Trap Cards to his Grave, he gains 2000 LPs raising his score to 2500 but the attack still goes through, destroying DC and dropping his score to 1500.

Chief then attacks with himself but Jaden activates Draining Shield, giving him LPs equal to the attacking monster's ATK, boosting his score to 3900. However, Chief still has more monsters and attacks with them, dropping Jaden's score to 600. Jaden laughs, saying he's having a blast but Chief tells him he won't as he plays Royal Tribute, which discards all monsters in both players' hands to the Graveyard if Necrovalley is out. Oops! At 10:48 into the episode, Clayman and Sparkman are effect monsters in the US! Jaden draws and smiles but its a shame that he has nothing to tribute for it...or does he even need any? He has Elemental Hero Necroshade in the Graveyard, which can't be negated by Necrovalley so he plays Elemental Hero Bladedge (2600) in Attack Mode and attacks GC, destroying it. Oops! As Chief shields his eyes from the attack at 13:46 into the episode, his duel disk in the dubbed version shows Dark Magician of Chaos on his duel disk!

Chief's score drops to 0.The others as well as Jaden rush over. The remaining Gravekeeper's hold back Jaden but Chief says he was a formidable opponent and hands Jaden a medallion. Some gift, it's only half of a medallion. Chief explains that the other person to beat his challenge holds the other half. He hopes the medallion will pull him through someday. So how do they get home? Chief explains that they have to get to the tome before the three suns combine into one but as they start to leave an army of GG and SS block their way.

Chief tells them that Jaden has passed the test and earned his freedom. The army continues to step forward but GA blocks them, basically repeating Chief's words. The army backs off and the gang race off with Winged Kuriboh leading the way. She tells Jaden to let her "boyfriend" know that she is still here. The gang race off and reach about halfway when Chumley stumbles. Chumley tells them to go on without him but Jaden refuses to go without Chumley. A Des Koala emerges from Chumley's deck and carries him the rest of the way. They are transported back to their own world.
