Episode 15: Courting Alexis

At the tennis courts, Fonda Fontaine tells them to get their game on. Jaden doesn't understand what tennis has to do with dueling and one of the players tells him, staying on your feet, taking turns and the harder you play the better you do! Jaden leaps up and  really whacks the ball, sending it into Alexis but is bounced back by a mysteries person and curves a hard left into Dr. Crowler, whom falls to the ground. The mysterious tennis player partially kneels to Alexis.

Does she need to bring him to the nurse? The player says he's good and that he knows Alexis from Obelisk Blue. After a minor "love conversation", he backs away to continue his match. At the nurses office, Jaden apologizes but Crowler says it still wasn't good enough. Miss Fontaine says that technically Jaden wasn't at fault but Crowler says that Jaden started it, he saw it with his own two eyes, well actually one eye. Jaden makes fun of "one-eyed Crowler". Jaden suggests that his punishment should be to quit tennis since he doesn't like it but Crowler decides to make him play and the captain will whip Jaden into shape!

Inside the locker room, Alexis' friends tell Alexis they found out who the mysterious player is, Herrington Rosewood. Alexis didn't ask to find out who he was! Then Mindy goes on about that HR is on doors everywhere. "That's great" Alexis says sarcastically. Syrus races in and starts running around in circles. Mindy asks what's wrong and Syrus asks where the tennis team meets, which Alexis responds on the court. What on earth is wrong? Syrus tells them that Jaden's getting the most unfair punishment ever...the captain is going to be bossing Jaden around as punishment when it was the captain who hit Crowler with the ball!

On the court, Jaden and Herrington are playing tennis. Jaden thought they'd be playing tennis not running speed drills! Herrington is handed another ball and serves it. He just doesn't let up! Jaden advances backward but falls onto his back. After many sports clichés, Alexis' friends say Herrington is kind of obsessive. Alexis shows and totally ignores Herrington's hello. She walks over to Jaden, saying that she ran into Professor Banner. "No way, so where is he?" Jaden asks.

Herrington interferes, saying that Jaden shouldn't be talking to Alexis. He then proposes a duel in which the winner is Alexis' fiancée. Alexis doesn't like the idea of being a fiancée. Both activate their duel disks. Herrington starts with Service Ace, forcing Jaden to pick a card and guess whether it's a Spell, Trap or Monster. If he's right, nothing but if not, he takes 1500 damage. Jaden guesses Spell. Is he sure? He can still change his mind! Jaden switches to Trap but it's a monster, Mega Thunderball. Oops! At 9:48 into the episode, the Japanese MT has no star level!

Jaden takes 1500 damage, leaving him with 2500 LPs. Herrington sets a card and ends his turn. Jaden better make his turn count! Jaden draws and after some thinking, summons Elemental Hero Avian (1000) in Attack Mode. He attacks but Herrington activates Receive Ace, which negates Avian's attack and deals 1500 damage to Jaden, bringing him down to 1000.

Though, Herrington has to discard the top 3 cards of his deck to the Graveyard for using it. Jaden sets a card and ends his turn. Herrington plays Smash Ace, forcing him to flip the top card of his deck and if it's a monster, Jaden takes damage but Jaden activates Feather Wind, which negates SA since Avian is out. The two of them start laughing, seeing who can laugh the longest. With that done, Jaden draws and uses Poly to summon Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster (2000) in Attack Mode. He attacks directly with his monsters, leaving Herrington's score even with Jaden's.

Herrington draws and plays Deuce, which restricts both players to attacking with one monster and winning the duel by attacking twice in a row but only if both players have 1000 LPs. Next he summons The Big Server (300) in Attack Mode and his effect lets him attack directly, which he does so, putting Jaden's LPs to 700 and allowing Herrington to add Service Ace to his hand and Jaden to draw 1 card. Then he plays his Service Ace, which again forces Jaden to choose the type of the card Herrington selects from his hand.

Jaden guesses correctly. He then activates Giant Racket, an Equip Spell for Big Server that reduces Battle Damage to 0 once. Jaden plays De-Fusion, bringing back Elemental Hero Clayman (800) and Elemental Hero Burstinatrix (1200) in Attack Mode. Then he uses Feather Shot, letting Avian attack once for every monster he controls. He attacks, wiping out the rest of Herrington's LPs, causing Herrington to run away sobbing. Jaden decides to go through with the deal then asks what a fiancée is and Alexis tells him it means friend, for now. Up on a hill, Herrington, still sobbing calls out for Alexis.
