Episode 176: Grappling with a Guardian (3)
On the roof, only Mokuba realizes that Underworld Circle is the reason Yami and Raphael are inside a shadowy sphere. However, Yami finds himself in a Graveyard and wonders if it's a vision from the Orichalcos but considers the possibility that he's been transported to the card Graveyard but he's not alone as Raphael states that it wasn't part of his plan. A man runs past them and it's Raphael's younger self and Raphael gives chase with Yami following suit. When they stop, they've arrived at two gravestones with the Orichalcos symbol on them and Raphael knows where he is, as Dartz took him there to expose him to the truth. We find Dartz telling young Raphael that his family has forgotten him and that his new family is with Dartz. Young Raphael digs in the ground and finds a duel disk with a deck and draws, activating the Seal of Orichalcos to complete his transformation. As a bonus, Guardian Eatos is replaced by Guardian Dreadscythe. They return to the duel and Guardian Dreadscythe has returned as Raphael explains that it comes back automatically by discarding 1 card and not even Raphael can get rid of it. Yami thinks that since GD was created to feed Raphael's internal darkness, destroying it might set Raphael free. He uses Underworld Circle's effect to bring back Dark Magician (2500) in Attack Mode, then sets 1 card to end his turn. As Raphael takes his turn, Yami uses UC's effect to bring back Jack's Knight (1900) in Attack Mode. Raphael attacks but Yami activates Zero Gravity to switch all monsters in Attack Mode to Defense Mode. However, Raphael activates Spirit Hunting to put GD back into Attack Mode and letting it resume its attack and destroy both of Yami's monsters (due to Spirit Hunting's effect but as usual, that's left out). Yami draws and uses UC's effect to bring back Dark Magician Girl (2000) in Attack Mode. Next he uses Altar of Restoration to send the top 2 cards of his deck to the Grave and bring back his Legendary Dragon. Then he sends DMG and his Legendary Dragon to the Grave for Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight (2600) in Attack Mode. He uses DMGtDK's effect to discard 1 card and destroy GD but it returns by its mandatory effect, leaving Kaiba to question why Yami would attack it (he didn't it was the monster's effect). Raphael draws, ready to finish Yami off but Yami uses UC's effect to bring back Queen's Knight (1500) in Attack Mode. Nevertheless, Raphael discards 1 card to activate Orichalcos Sword of Sealing, negating DMGtDK's effect. Then he attacks, destroying it but reducing Yami's score to 10 as Yami activated Reduction Barrier, reducing his LPs to 10 percent. Yami draws and uses UC's effect to bring back Big Shield Gardna (" ") in Defense Mode (if you could do that, why did you bring back all your previous monsters in Attack Mode?). Then he uses Pot of Greed to draw twice, getting exactly what he needs and uses Spider Web to activate Raphael's Monster Reborn and revive Guardian Eatos (2500) in Attack Mode. He then plays Joey's Legendary Dragon and sends it and Queen's Knight to the Grave to equip GE with Goddess Bow, doubling its ATK to 5000. With a monster out of Raphael's Graveyard, GD loses 500 ATK, brining its ATK down to 5000. He attacks and uses Goddess Bow's effect to let GE attack each time GD revives itself (and must prevent its destruction in battle or this wouldn't be possible). Raphael's hand empties and GD disappears for good. Raphael decides to continue the duel and uses UC's effect to bring back Guardian Grarl. Next he uses Soul Charge to bring back Backup Gardna, Guardian Elma and Guardian Kay'est from his Graveyard but taking 500 damage for each one, costing him the duel. The Seal shrinks around Raphael and Guardian Eatos and others appear as a result of what's inside his heart and they'll always be with him. Since Raphael was able to conquer the darkness in his heart, the Seal disappears without capturing a soul. The calm is short-lived as an event worse than an earthquake takes hold!
