Episode 149: Déjà Duel (1)

Inside their car, Joey notes that they aren't anyplace like back home and is reminded that they're in San Francisco but Tea` needs to remind both of them that this isn't a vacation. Meanwhile, Kaiba and Mokuba are approaching Duelist Kingdom and neither one of them wants to spend a lengthy amount of time due to the bad memories from before. They land and enter to find none of Pegasus' former goons, which means less people to get on Kaiba's nerves. Elsewhere, Rex and Weevil, still in their bag, are being transported by truck and Weevil has forgotten his own name. Back in the car, Joey loves the steep roads but doesn't see the "golden" part of the bridge's name. Yugi takes a bit to respond as his mind still has all the events of the week swirling around in his head. Inside Pegasus' castle, Kaiba and Mokuba arrive where the finals took place but with no conveyor belt bridge like before, leaving them on the brink of falling 200 feet and Kaiba's patience has just about run out so he yells for Pegasus to show himself.

Laughter breaks the silence as Pegasus appears, asking what he did to make Kaiba so unfriendly towards him. Kaiba is short on time but notes of his recent event with his company and isn't believing Pegasus' next statements. At last, the duel preparations get underway as the arena slides down from above and connects with the bridge, putting both Kaiba and Pegasus exactly where they were back during the Duelist Kingdom tournament. This time, however, Kaiba wants Mokuba at a save distance so Mokuba retreats to the balcony.

At last, the duel gets underway as Pegasus summons Toon Alligator (1600) in Defense Mode, a move Kaiba knows to well but Pegasus then sets 1 card to end his turn. Kaiba draws and summons Spear Dragon (1900) in Attack Mode and takes out Pegasus' TA, leaving Pegasus down to 3700 LPs by SD's effect. With that, SD goes to Defense Mode and Kaiba sets 2 cards to end his turn. Back inside the truck, Weevil and Rex's squirming causes the bag to tumble out onto a street where gangs roam and the gang isn't happy to see Rex or Weevil so Rex tries yelling for help.

Back at the duel, Pegasus uses Toon Table of Contents to pick-up Toon World (not draw as he says from 10:31 to 10:35 into the US episode) and pays the 1000 Life Point activation fee, bringing his score down to 2700. Next he summons Toon Masked Sorcerer (900) in Attack Mode, prompting Kaiba to activate Cloning to get his own copy of TMS. Pegasus finds it pointless to attack and ends his turn. Kaiba tributes his SD and TMS copy for Blue-Eyes White Dragon (3000) in Attack Mode but Pegasus activates Toon Mask to trade in his TMS for a Toon version of Kaiba's monster, brining out Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon (3000) in Attack Mode. (The real card must first be Special Summoned by Tributing the necessary monsters.) Nevertheless, Kaiba uses Shrink to halve BETD's ATK to 1500 and attacks, dealing no Battle Damage to Pegasus and making (by Pegasus' opinion) BETD more lovable. Furthermore, Kaiba uses Charm of Lamentation (name is revealed shortly after activation) to let him draw 1 card each time his monster fails to destroy a monster in battle, drawing 1 card.

Pegasus draws and pays 500 LPs, bringing his score down to 2200 and letting BETD attack directly but Kaiba activates Negate Attack to stop the attack and end the Battle Phase. (At 15:03 into the Japanese episode, the card is a Quick-Play Spell.) However, Pegasus uses Toon Rollback, letting him attack again but first tributes BETD for Toon Dark Magician Girl (2000) in Attack Mode and attacks directly, leaving Kaiba down to 2000 LPs. Kaiba draws and attack TDMG, causing TDMG to absorb the attack with her hat and letting Kaiba draw 1 card by CoL's effect. It's what he needs and he uses A Wingbeat of Giant Dragon to return BEWD to his hand and destroy all Spells and Traps on Pegasus' field. (The real card destroys all Spell and Trap Cards on the field.) He ends his turn by summoning Versago the Destroyer (900) in Defense Mode but Pegasus has become silent.

At last Pegasus speaks but he literally hasn't been himself and removes the mask and outfit, revealing himself as Alister. Alister draws, using the Seal of Orichalcos, where the loser will be sealed away for all eternity but this time he won't be set free!
