Episode 145: A New Evil (1)

First off, they're using the Season 1 theme but this time new clips emerge as we see Yami as Pharaoh and new monsters. When it ends, we find the logo has a "Waking the Dragons" subtitle. Out in the ocean, we find a ship revealed to be named Poseidon 3 sailing along and a submersible diving to apparently 35,000 feet and is manned by Professor Hawkins, whom insists on continuing despite protesting from his men. Hawkins' sub arrives to a more shallow area of water inside some temple and aims to have a closer look. To his shock, he finds what resemble Duel Monsters and has no explanation.

In Domino City, his findings are broadcast on TV and Rex and Weevil bump into one another, wondering what the other is doing there, then unknowingly both head down the road to find Yami to win the God Cards. Partway down, they spot a man and are moving too quickly to avoid running into him. The man speaks some (unknown to me) words and all Weevil can conclude is they got the man angry but the man orders them to their feet to duel and activates a different kind of Duel Disk. Meanwhile, just outside school, Tea` wonders where Yugi went as it's not like him to ditch class. Joey and Tristan exit the school and learn why Yugi wasn't at his locker.

We find Yami crossing the street and learn that they switched places in class (which certainly is different than simply ditching class altogether in which neither of them are there).  He reaches the Domino Museum steps when the rest of the gang arrive to help. Elsewhere, we find a white cloaked man, calling upon the great deities to locate the Pharaoh. The gang enter the museum and Joey and Tristan see the tablet for the first time. As Yami looks at his God Cards, the white cloaked man's voice convinces Yami to hold them up to the tablet, triggering energy but the white cloaked man instead causes the tablet to be sealed off and drains the God Cards of their strength. A scream draws the gang outside and they see Duel Monsters flying through the air everywhere.

They decide to pay a visit to Kaiba but at Kaiba Corp, they're already getting numerous calls. Along the way, they find Rex and Weevil, looking dazed and speaking of the gang's souls being offered to the great beast. Back at Kaiba Corp, a crowd has gathered and Roland states that Kaiba Corp isn't to blame and a press conference is scheduled later that day. That night, at home, Solomon is admiring the God Cards after cleaning them as news rages on his TV, which the gang are watching and Kaiba's press conference repeats what Roland said earlier. Tristan doesn't buy it but Yami and Tea` figure it might be actual Duel Monsters not holograms and perhaps they came from the power felt earlier in the museum.

A crash switches their focus and they find Solomon on the ground and learn that the God Cards are gone so Joey goes out to find them but is out just in time to see them Summoned. A biker gang arrives, stating that the God Cards have a new master and to win them back, the gang must duel them. They head off, leading Yugi and his friends to follow them to a run-down rooftop of a building where the man from before is waiting and agrees to move to ground level. He's full aware of their ancient powers and orders Yami to duel for them. Yami accepts and summons Beta The Magnet Warrior (1600) in Defense Mode, then sets 1 card to end his turn.

The rest of the biker gang arrive, stating that Yami took their bait and their boss will be thrilled. Bearded Man (whom at this point has been revealed as "Gurimo" in Japanese and what I'll be using here unless his US name appears) summons Marauding Captain (1200) in Attack Mode and uses its effect to bring out Shadow Tamer (800) in Attack Mode. He adds that the worst is yet to come and activates a card stronger than all 3 God Cards, the Seal of Orichalcos! A green ring with some form of written text inside appears and floats to the dueling site and forms a unicursal hexagram in its center, throwing the rest of the gang back as Gurimo says both duelists are locked inside and everyone else is prevented from entering inside with only the winner allowed to exit and the loser sealed away. (The real card destroys all your Special Summoned monsters when activated.)

Yami is no stranger to ancient magic and activates his Millennium Puzzle but it fizzles out as Yami learns TSO existed long before the Millennium Items and furthermore, its power gives all of Gurimo's monsters 500 ATK, leaving ST with 1300 and MC with 1700 (and this boost will be added to the monster's ATK when Summoned).  His attack with MC destroys BTMW and activates Yami's Soul Rope card, letting Yami pay 1000 Life Points and bring out Gamma The Magnet Warrior (1800) in Defense Mode, bringing his score down to 3000. Gurimo sets 1 card to end his turn. Yami summons Alpha The Magnet Warrior (1400) in Attack Mode, which activates Gurimo's Hidden Soldiers card to let him bring out Makyura the Destructor (2100) in Attack Mode.

Yami also has a card to play and uses Shallow Grave (The Shallow Grave in the CG), letting each player Special Summon a monster from their Graves and he chooses Beta The Magnet Warrior but Gurimo has nothing to choose from (and in the CG, it's required for both players to Special Summon their monsters face down or the card cannot be activated). Next, Yami sends his Magnet Warriors to the Grave for Valkyrion the Magna Warrior (3500) in Attack Mode and one of the biker gang members, whom we learn is Valon notes that Gurimo better do something soon or Yami will win. His attack destroys MC and leaves Gurimo down to 2200 LPs. The only thing that could take down Valkyrion is a God Card (well not true because with the Seal, anything with over 3000 ATK or more could beat it) but that's what Gurimo wants to do and uses Monster Reborn on his Marauding Captain, then tributes his monsters for Obelisk the Tormentor (4500) in Attack Mode. Yami is trapped in the circle of doom and before long his seal with be trapped for all eternity!
