Episode 128: The Darkness Returns (4)

At the duel, Dark Marik attacks, and Ra's fury engulfs Joey and despite Mokuba's protest to stop the duel, Kaiba isn't going to as he wants to see Ra's power first hand. At last, Dark Marik calls back his monster, confident that Joey is no longer able to duel but when the smoke clears, Joey is standing and hallucinates seeing Yami in their match of the Battle City Finals and is told of what to do next, beat Dark Marik and save the world. Joey draws, struggling to see what he drew and Dark Marik is now the one with fear that he'll lose the duel and his God Card. His draw yields him Gearfried the Iron Knight, which he plays (1800) in Attack Mode and has trouble declaring his attack. As the gang watch, Joey falls to the platform floor and his monster self-destructs. Kaiba refuses to get a doctor as Joey has 30 seconds to get up. Joey fails this and Dark Marik is declared the winner and the gang rush to Joey's aid.

Kaiba is impressed at Joey's ability to withstand Ra's attack but try as they might, Joey doesn't awaken and Dark Marik is one duel away from world domination. Kaiba then protests that he'll be the one to face Dark Marik in the finals. Dark Marik advises Kaiba to focus on his next duel and adds that Joey will never awaken. Roland announces that the next duel starts in an hour with Yami and Kaiba facing off and once Yami finds that Joey is alright, he'll deal with Kaiba. Inside the hospital, the doctor's words are not comforting and Joey dreams of another tournament in progress that he's late to. Worse still, Mokuba arrives with bad news in that Kaiba doesn't want to land to take Joey to a real hospital on the basis that their own doctors are good enough.

Nevertheless, Mokuba agrees to send a chopper provided Kaiba isn't informed. Inside Yami, Yugi remains emotional and the duo head outside to have a conversation. While they continue their conversation, Joey's dream has Joey play Flame Swordsman (1800) in Attack Mode and attacking, destroying his opponent's Holograph and winning the duel. Back in reality, Joey's spirit appears to Yugi and Yami, reminding them of the Millennium Necklace Ishizu gave them but remembers that last time it was wrong yet decides to take look at what it offers and finds that Joey may be alright after all. Just then, Roland announces the next duel and Yami decides to believe what the MN has to say but Mokuba isn't having any luck getting a helicopter on the way. Yami enters Joey's hospital room, putting Joey's Duel Disk on Joey's arm, saying he'll need it for is toughest fight. Yami will return after the duel ASAP but Tea` has doubts yet is convinced of what Yami must do. Yami heads out, knowing that defeating Kaiba won't be easy but the fate of the world is counting on Yami's victory!
