Episode 98: A Virtual Nightmare

We open with Season 3's new intro but still with the same awesome music from Season 2. There are more monsters appearing and we get a glimpse of the Big Five, plus a subtitle "Enter the Shadow Realm". Down below, a voice asks the whereabouts of the Kaiba Corp airship and when told it's 1.4 miles away, the fortress thing gets moving as the voice claims to finally get what Seto Kaiba stole from him. As sunrise arrives, the airship has the Battle City Finals location in sight. Inside, Yugi is already up, having gotten no sleep the night before and has concluded that Dark Marik will stop at nothing to get the Millennium Puzzle. He's not going to sit around and wait, Dark Marik must be stopped but the airship's sudden vibrations break his train of thought.

The gang slowly awaken and demand to know what's going on but all Kaiba's suits can do is attempt in vain to keep the airship on course. Worse still, they discover that the airship's controls have been hacked into and the coordinates changed. The airship falls rapidly from the sky into the water, grazing the surface before lifting back up. A green-haired male person comes on board, matching up with the voice from earlier and, after Kaiba's demands, identifying himself as Noah. The fortress rises to the surface and the full scale of their situation literally takes hold, dragging the airship towards it. All the while, Dark Marik is enjoying every minute of it but Kaiba is the one deciding to take on Noah alone.

However, Noah insists and the gang forge out of the airship and down a corridor, leaving Dark Marik and Kaiba's suits behind. (Strange how Marik doesn't follow, given not only the gang is going to where the chaos is but that's where the items he desires are.) The group reach the end of the hallway into a large room where the Big Five appear and Mokuba identifies each member by name, explaining that they were the ones that trapped Kaiba but they're back for revenge and invite the group to participate in their virtual Duel Monsters tournament as they've lost their bodies from being in the Virtual World for so long. If they defeat Kaiba's group in a duel, they obtain access to the real world in their bodies. The gang are dragged into their special dueling world and end up in a jungle where a virtual dinosaur attacks Kaiba without success. Suddenly, there's a second Kaiba in his Duelist Kingdom outfit and he's joined by Total Defense Shogun as the Big Five use the two in a duel to demonstrate their Deck Master System. Virtual Kaiba has Blue-Eyes White Dragon as his Deck Master and Total Defense Shogun is his Deck Master.

VK begins by playing Lord of Dragons (Lord of D. in the CG) (1200) and plays Flute of Summoning Dragon to in turn bring out 2 Blue-Eyes White Dragons (3000 x2) in Attack Mode. Next he moves his Deck Master to the field and uses Polymerization to bring out Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon (4500) in Attack Mode. Due to VK's Deck Master ability, his monster can attack right away and does so but thanks to TDS' Deck Master ability, VK's attack is reflected back on his own monster destroying it and making VK disappear as the Big Five explain that if one's Deck Master is destroyed, they lose automatically, regardless of Life Points. However, they never left the room and to make the suffering equal, the Big Five will duel all of them. It's time for them to enter the Virtual World where their minds will be trapped forever!
