Episode 28: The Night Before

At a banquet hall (or something like it), the group is eating, with Joey and Tristan eating most. Croquet explains what's ahead and the cards they'll need to partake in both the final match with Pegasus and to claim the three million in prize money respectively. Joey and Bandit Keith don't have either one. The results from the computer's duelist pairing puts Joey against BK and an Mai against Yugi. Pegasus now knows that the finals have begun and Yugi gives Joey his Glory of the King's Hand card, saying that both cards aren't needed to compete. Afterwards, the group heads off to bed, or at least to their rooms as Yugi, Mai, Bakura, Tea` and Tristan are still awake with Tristan and Bakura telling Tea` about Pegasus' supposed cheating. They must do it by themselves, despite the guards.

While Yugi's sleep is interrupted (or perhaps it could be a dream/nightmare), the group still up search the dueling platform to find nothing except a window with moonlight entering and a tower not far away. Tristan figures it'd be cake for Pegasus' goons to spy on Kaiba's hand and relay it back to Pegasus. They head out to the tower while Yugi continues trying to find his Grandpa. Down below, Tristan finds a grappling hook hanging on the wall and it gives him an idea. BK decides that now's the time to get one of the two entry cards. Yugi finds his Grandpa in card form but has more questions than answers.

Shortly after, the card leaves Yugi's hand and joins the other two on monoliths. Above, Tea` loses her footing but is caught before the guards below can see anything. They get inside while Yugi remains in his dream where the monoliths are set ablaze. Pegasus turns on the lights and punishes them by taking them to ancient dueling times.Making matter's worse, the people chanting hear them and they discover Pegasus is part of it and wants to send them to the Shadow Realm. However, Bakura's dark half intervenes and uses his Ring's magic to return everything to normal, except with the group struggling to remember exactly what they just went through. Speaking of which, Yugi awoke from his, realizing it wasn't an ordinary dream. He has no idea how to control his Millennium Puzzle and he's running out of time!
