Episode 4: Into the Hornet's Nest

On board the ship, Joey realizes that Duelist Kingdom may be a big place and finding Yugi's grandpa won't be easy but they have to start somewhere. Once the boat drops anchor, the duelists leave and Tristan is caught for suspicion but only to be told that he's a guest and he walks off. Joey unfortunately caught a cold from being in the water and he wouldn't have if it weren't for Weevil. (No, if you hadn't been so careless as to give Weevil the cards, you'd still have them so it's your fault, Yugi.) One of Pegasus' men orders them to follow the castle stairs to meet Pegasus. On the way up, Tea` sees Bakura again but when the others look, he's gone but reappears seconds later. At the top, while waiting for Pegasus' arrival one duelist identifies Weevil, Rex, and another duelist not yet seen until now, Mako Tsunami.

Pegasus arrives and gives a speech and Yugi figures they'll just have to win their way in.It isn't long after the fireworks that Yugi finds Weevil and gives chase. They find him after Yugi figures out what Weevil is running for. Becoming Yu-Gi-Oh, he then declares the start of the duel and the ground begins to shake. An arena emerges, along with a few spectators. Weevil begins the duel with Killer Needle (1200) in Attack Mode and Yugi begins with an equally strong Mammoth Graveyard (1200) in Attack Mode and attacks but it's destroyed as Weevil explains it was due to the Field Power Bonus his monster got, raising its ATK to 1560. However, Weevil's own monster is also destroyed as Yu-Gi-Oh's MG got the same Field Power Bonus from the Wasteland to make its ATK also equal. Yu-Gi-Oh now understands why they were brought here to duel. Every type of field imaginable is there. Weevil protests that one rule understood isn't enough. He knows all the surprises hidden about and plays Hercules Beetle (1500) in Attack Mode, whose ATK goes to 1950 by the FPB (Field Power Bonus for short).

Oops! At 14:59 into the episode, before HB is played, you can see its ATK is shown at 1200 on the card and it's the wrong attribute! Yugi figures a combo attack could work and plays Feral Imp (1300) and equips it with Horn of the Unicorn, giving it 700 ATK to 2000. However, his attack destroys itself and leaves himself down to 1350 as Weevil explains that monsters with the FPB aren't affected by magic attacks. Yu-Gi-Oh decides to defend and Weevil plays Basic Insect (500) in Attack Mode and powered up to 650 with the FPB and Weevil's Level 3 Laser Cannon (Laser Cannon Armor in the CG) and Level 2 Power Boost (apparently giving BI 1200 ATK and 200 DEF, according to the Yu-Gi-Oh Wiki, which I generally trust as long as it's not getting incorrect info). Weevil attacks, taking out Yu-Gi-Oh's hidden monster (named Griffore as it turns out).

Turns pass and Weevil continues summoning monsters like Gokibore (1200) Big Ant (1200) and Kamakiriman (1150) all in Attack Mode, exactly as Yu-Gi-Oh wants and attacks Yu-Gi-Oh's Dark Magician (2100) in Defense Mode with Basic Insect. Oops! At 19:24 into the episode, Saggi the Dark Clown is shown on Weevil's side of the arena instead of Kamakriman! The attack activates Yu-Gi-Oh's face down Mirror Force Trap Card, set while Weevil was bragging and reflecting the attack on all of Weevil's monsters, destroying them and leaving Weevil down to 555 LPs. (I think what happened here is BI's attack is literally directed on Weevil's other monsters and damage was calculated for each of them but for the real card, it just destroys all of your opponent's Attack Position monsters.) Weevil has one more monster waiting in the wings that'll swat Yu-Gi-Oh down once and for all!
