Episode 55: A Score to Settle (2) | |||
At the duel, Kalin is ready to have his Infernity Archfiend finish off Max
Warrior but its ATK drops to 800 (and it's in a Life Point graphic from 3:05 to
3:06 into the US episode) as Yusei explains that Ghost Gardna's effect lowered
Archfiend's ATK by 1000. Kalin has nothing more to do so he ends his turn. Yusei
draws and plays Junk Synchron (1300) in Attack
Mode and uses it and Speed Warrior as Synchro Material for Junk Warrior (2300) in Attack Mode. Next he equips
it with his face down Synchro Striker Unit to give
it 1000 ATK this turn to 3300 (and in turn calling it Max Warrior from 3:58 to
4:07 into the US episode). Next, he attacks IA with Max Warrior, raising MW's
ATK by 400 to 2200 but Kalin activates Infernity Force
to destroy MW and Special Summon Infernity Necromancer
(2000) from his Graveyard in Defense Mode since he has no cards in his hand. Yusei takes out One-Hundred Eyed Dragon with JW's attack, leaving Kalin down to 3700 LPs. However, OHED's other effect lets Kalin add any card from his Deck to his hand, just as Yusei feared. (The real card specifically lets you add an Earthbound Immortal monster from your Deck to your hand, which is what Kalin picks.) Worse still, SSU's effect wears off, returning JW's ATK to normal. Crow mentally urges Yusei to remember why he's in the duel, recalling more events from their past where Kalin duels a Sector Security Guard by playing Vorse Raider (1900) in Attack Mode. The SSG summons Montage Dragon to take it out and force Kalin through a wall. The impact sends the duo and the Duel Runner to the ground and right before Kalin can take a swing at the SSG, Yusei tackles him to the ground before approaching Sector Security to take the blame for the events. However, the guards aren't fooled and take Kalin away, leading to an argument over what happened as we see Kalin's moments leading up to becoming a Dark Signer. Yusei then sets 2 cards to end his turn. Kalin then draws and tributes his monsters for Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu (3000) in Attack Mode, leading to more innocent souls being absorbed. He attacks but Yusei activates Baton of the Hero to make Junk Warrior (not Speed Warrior as Yusei says from 14:08 to 14:15 into the US episode) the target of Kalin's attack, destroying it and leaving Yusei down to 2400. Worse still, Ccapac Apu's other effect deals Yusei damage equal to his destroyed monster's ATK but Yusei counters with Burst Synchro Summon to reduce the damage to 0 and Special Summon a monster whose ATK equals the damage he would've taken like Stardust Dragon (2500) in Attack Mode (as Junk Warrior lost 800 ATK during the previous End Phase to bring its ATK down to 2500 but they don't tell you that). Kalin isn't convinced of Yusei's strategy and sets 1 card to end his turn. Yusei draws, letting Kalin activate Brilliant Shrine Art to force any and all of Yusei's attacks to the Earthbound Immortal. Nevertheless, Yusei uses Speed Spell - Angel Baton to draw 2 cards, then discard 1 and he discards Stardust Xiaolong, which he Special Summons (100) in Attack Mode by its effect, then sets 1 card to end his turn. (The real Stardust Xiaolong can only be Special Summoned by its effect when you Synchro Summon Stardust Dragon.) Kalin draws and Yusei activates Superior Protector, reducing Battle Damage to 0 unless Stardust Dragon, the card he chooses with the effect, battles. Kalin attacks anyway so Yusei sends SP to the Graveyard to save Stardust. Since Yusei is still taking Battle Damage, Kalin activates Wicked Trample to double any Battle Damage dealt to a player that isn't from a direct attack. Yusei takes 1000 damage, bringing his score down to 1400 but the road they're on starts fracturing and it's up to Yusei to save Kalin. Their marks glow as Kalin begins to realize that Yusei was right but there's nothing he can do as Kalin begins sliding out of reach.The marks fade to join up with Yusei and his deck's next card glows. Yusei finds out what it is and plays it, Majestic Dragon (0000) in Attack Mode before using his monsters as Synchro Material for Majestic Star Dragon (3800) in Attack Mode. MSD can negate the other monster's effects and gain them so Yusei does so with it, then attacks, destroying EICA and winning the duel. Before he goes, Kalin admits to what happened before and learns that Yusei isn't about to let the Dark Signers win before fading away. Yusei won't let the Dark Signers win! They'll pay for this! |
