Episode 17: Surprise, Surprise | |||
Just before Yusei's match with Shira, Yusei asks Tanner about his opponent and Tanner explains that Shira is one to never remove his robes but Yusei plans to save Stardust Dragon for his rematch with Jack. Hunter Pace gazes upon seeing Jack's image on the screen, surprised he wasn't invited but is going to have fun crashing the event and blazes past security before ducking in a narrow corridor to hide from Shira and Lazar and learns about Yusei's victory over Jack. The MC makes his intros of Yusei and Shira but out comes Hunter Pace in Shira's clothing and as before, the crowd disapproves of Yusei. Duel preparations get underway and when the duelists take off, so does the clothing hiding Hunter Pace and we see the aftermath of his run-in with the real Shira.
Nevertheless, Goodwin approves of the duel and Hunter Pace draws, playing Burning Skull Head (1000) in Attack Mode and setting 3 cards for his turn. Yusei draws and summons Speed Warrior (900) in Attack Mode and after its ATK doubles by its effect, Yusei attacks with it, prompting Hunter to activate Zero Guard to make BSH's ATK 0 and unable to be destroyed in battle, bringing his score down to 2200. Hunter's Speed Counters should drop but don't as Hunter activates Doom Accelerator to give him 1 Speed Counter for every 500 damage he takes, bringing his SC counter to 4. All Yusei can do is set 2 cards and end his turn. Hunter draws and uses Speed Spell - Summon Speeder to let him Special Summon a monster since he has 4 Speed Counters (he actually has 5 so this is a script error) and chooses Skull Base (800) in Attack Mode. Next he tributes his monsters for Skull Flame (2600) in Attack Mode. Drawing another card (by Skull Base's effect but they don't tell you that), Hunter attacks, destroying SW and leaving Yusei down to 2300 LPs. Furthermore, Hunter activates Speed Booster to deal Yusei damage equal to the difference in their Speed Counters x 100, leaving Yusei to take 400 damage and leave his score down to 1900. As Hunter gloats, Yusei has quickly caught up thanks to his Slip Stream card, giving him the same number of SCs as Hunter since Hunter activated a Speed Spell last round and Yusei has less SCs. However, Hunter activates Acceleration Zone, giving him 5 SCs since Yusei gained SCs himself. Yusei activates his own Speed Spell - Summon Speeder to bring out Quillbolt Hedgehog (800) in Defense Mode, then Normal Summons Junk Synchron (1300) in Attack Mode, bringing back SW by JS' effect. Next he uses JS and SW as Synchro Material for Junk Warrior (2300) in Attack Mode. Since QH is Level 2, JW gains 800 ATK to put it up to 3100 but its attack is stopped thanks to Speed Booster's other effect. Yusei sets 2 cards to end his turn. Hunter draws and uses Speed Spell - Accelerate Draw to draw 2 cards (since he has 12 SCs and Yusei has 5 or less SCs but they don't tell you that). Next he uses Speed Spell - End of Storm to destroy all monsters on the field and deal 300 damage to each player for each of their destroyed monsters, bringing Hunter down to 1900 and Yusei down to 1300. (Once again, it's actually called "Speed Spell - End of the Storm".) Since SF is in his Grave, Hunter removes it from play to summon Speed King Skull Flame (Supersonic Skull Flame in the CG) (3000) in Attack Mode. (The real card's ATK is 2600.) His attack prompts Yusei to activate Scrap-Iron Scarecrow to negate the attack but Hunter uses SB's first effect to deal Yusei 500 damage, then SKSF/SSF's effect to deal him another 400 damage for each BSH in his own Grave, leaving Yusei down to just 400 LPs. Yusei draws and activates Speed Spell - Shift Down to lower his SCs by 6 to 4 and draw 2 cards. Next he summons Nitro Synchron (300) in Attack Mode and brings back QH by its effect. Then he uses Give and Take to Special Summon JS to Hunter's field and give one of his monsters 3 more stars in their Level. Next he uses QH and NS as Synchro Material for Nitro Warrior (2800 in Attack Mode, letting him draw 1 card by NS' effect. Then he uses Speed Spell - Gap Storm to destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field since the difference in SCs is 10 or more. Next he attacks with NW after it gains 1000 ATK to 3800 by its effect, destroying SKSF/SSF and (by its effect) Junk Synchron to win Yusei the duel. and leave Hunter on the ground in hysteria. No energy was detected from the D-tector and just what is Goodwin's plan for Yusei anyway? Jack will find out all in due time! |
